POSSESSED: when is Detective Kang Pil Seong NOT wearing a winter coat?? He’s aaaalways got one on, be it indoors or outdoors!

I find most kdrama people wearing coats even when indoors or in a restaurant.

for some absurd reason, he stands out more (to me) because he has one of those puffy ones.

Currently watching OBSESSED and while I really really like it, I find there seems to have been a writing problem around ep 8,9 and 10. It’s as if everything was going so well and now the writers realized the plot moved a liiiiittle too fast, and they’re now sidetracking with all sorts of needless plot lines. 1st there was the zombie plotline, which fell flat, in spite of the great set up. I mean, the used one of the protesters as their guinea pig for the zombie water, and this should have been the start of a great debate in the inherent goodness in people… but no…
Then there was the video of the father who met the bully of his dead son on the rooftop. Again, this seemed to lead to something but nope. Not even a follow up on what happened to the unfortunate father-turned-murderer.
The murder-a-week plot was also dropped…
And noooow we have our Main Man being possessed by the Old Cop and the Bad Guy slowly but surely seducing the Old Cop’s daughter.
But no wait: 1st, let’s add another evil spirit to fight.
Point: it’s clear to me that Writer-nim was a little to engrossed in the Main Leads’ awesome character & love line development to notice that the rest of the plot was going forward at lightning.
And now we’re stalled…😩
[Thank you for reading. I needed to vent. ]

I’ve only watched till ep 7, but I agree that the drug plot and the bullied victim’s story was rushed through with no proper conclusion. The manufacturer was demanding more money, so he killed him? He’s smart enough. He should’ve been more creative in threatening him or made someone his assistant so that they could take over. Also the hero didn’t follow up on the rooftop victim. If he did. maybe he could’ve prevented the girl’s death on the stairs. Didn’t the ghost warn him that the victims will be a clue to the next one? Instead he was moping around heartbroken. The romance is sweet, but it’s supposed to be balanced. The show was doing a good job of balancing the horror, comedy and romance initially. Hopefully it will become all right.

We’re hoping to tie the knot in April 2020 in some place warm, outside of Canada. Which destination, you ask? we have no clue. thus the frustration. Factor in family values and traditions from our African families, and … bye bye my “small” wedding. lol

Remember to do things for yourself and your other half… Don’t do things for the sake of pretty or for the sake of having it so that people will like it or whatever– do it for yourself and because you like it…. It’s your special day and it should be planned so that YOU have a good time, and should not be planned with the mindset that you want to be a people-pleaser or have an Instagramm-able or Pin-able (Pinterest) wedding

dear @bebeswtz the “Instagram-able and Pinterest-able” advice is indeed a reality. thanks for that. In an age where you’re bombarded with snippets of excellence, comparison is more than common place. What should simply be used for “inspiration” has now turned into “goals” and “must have”.

I have successfully scrolled from today all the way to December 31st, 2018.
I think I\’m all caught up on the DB universe now, wouldn\’t you say.

I paused binge-watching Matrimonial Chaos in order to start & catch up on Sky Castle, but I’m really glad I didn’t completely forget it. I watched the last 2 eps of Matrimonial Chaos and it was soooo lovely! And messy and heartfelt and relatable.
And it’s at the very end that I realize that actor Son Seok-Koo (the flakey cheating husband Lee Jang-Hyun) is in fact the Handsome Detective to Doona Bae’s sass in Sense8!!! No wonder I loved his very very flawed character! His character was so quirky here that in as much as I hated him for cheating AND for using his weird past as an excuse, his strange starry-eyed responses to real life were so endearing. It’s like you just want to fix him, even though we all know that it is not a person’s job to fix another!
I’m glad it worked out and that he got married. Here’s to hoping he’ll be good to his gorgeous wife till the end of their lives together!

Is there a discussion group/thread for SKY Castle on DB?
I just finished ep 6 and I loooooove this show and NEEEED to talk about it with someone!

Wow thats a very long list 👏👏👏

(i used to list mine in Myanimelist.net my handle name is ryunami these days i dont watch anime anymore but im still read tge manga )

    1
    2

      Good idea!
It’s while going through this listing exercise that I realized just how little anime I watch now. I went from live-watching a show on almost every day of the week in any given season, to watching 1 show per year!!

Adulthood, how you have ruined my anime spirit!

      1
      1

Enjoy it while you still have the time 👏👏👏

Im still in love with animes but these days i dont have the time to watch streaming episodes ~coz im too poor to buy the original dvds.. i used to collect original manga too but these days i cant waste too much money but thanks to the online reading i never left behind.. recently i add chinese manhua into my reading because i found their arts are pretty

I just checked out your anime list and wow!!! What a great list!

      1
      0

On your list Kaichou wa maid sama, Akatsuki no Yona, Kamisama Hajimemashita, Chihayafuru belong to my favourite animes.

Other favourites of mine which your list doesn’t include are: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Watashi ga Motete Dousunda, Amnesia, Hakushaku to Yousei, Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club, Kobato, Ao Haru Ride, Gokukoku no Brynhildr, Fukigen na Mononokean, Net-juu no Susume.

Wow! My anime list is long, too. I still love rewatching them despite the fact that I’m getting older.

    2
    2

thanks for adding to my list, Bernadett. As it turns out, that was the list of memorable ones that elicited fond memories as I scrolled through years of anime previews/reviews this morning. There are tons more that I watched but probably didn’t enjoy as much. As it turns out, one of them is Ao Haru Ride; I enjoyed the manga more than the anime, for some absurd reason. Hakushaku to Yousei and Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun were fun but I didn’t cherish and obsess about them as much as some of the ones I listed there.

I WILL, however, check out the other titles: Net-juu no Susume and Fukigen na Mononokean ! YAY!! I now have shows to occupy myself with!

I loved her posts about the show, also check the what we’re watching posts, still thinking this show is too underrated and ppl were too harsh comparing it to its hyung Forest of Secrets, but well that’s life ^^’

I mean….it was never going to be Forest of Secrets. It was always going to be Forest of Secrets-Hospital Edition. ;).

      @kudoran @larelle79

before watching the show, I somehow knew that it would not be as enthralling and tightly-written as Forest of Secrets. It took weeeeeeks before I finally gave in and clicked on Cho Seung-woo’s smirky poster on Netflix, to watch the 1st episode. lol. But the minute he appeared on my screen and spoke: I was doomed to love it. Cho Seung-woo is such a great actor! He brought such nuance to a character that would otherwise have been straight up cold-and-mean in another less-experienced actor’s hands!!
and there was a great supporting cast too!
The hints of romance with Dr. Lee No-Eul made me so giddy!
Dr. Oh Se-Hwa was the badass I hadn’t even known I needed in my life!
Secretary Kang was the perfectly efficient and competent comic relief with a heart of gold!
Dr. Joo Kyung-Moon was so good at being an affable pacifist!
and wheelchair-bound Ye Sun-Woo… Lee Kyu-Hyung is top-notch at what he does.

overall… I am just glad @gadis page is there to take me back to the show’s best moments.
      (I’ll stop gushing right now)

      4
      2

I did say this at the end of the series, Lee Dong-wook was the weakest link and he was one of the leads. With that cast his shortcomings were a bit apparent as I really liked him in Goblin.

        5
        3

you’re absolutely right, @larelle79 . the contrast was so clear, it surprised me! I mean, I looooved the Grim Reaper and the Goblin’s reluctant bromance, and found myself at odds when I couldn’t like Lee Dong-Wook very much in LIFE.

          2
          0

I have seen some shows of his, he is a limited actor. He is good at what he does. But I can see him stick out if you have too many good actors around him.

I thought he did well though. 🙂

I was President Gu’s fan <3 maybe since early ep when people were still seeing him as the bad guy but the fact with Life is there are all grey characters, neither 100% good guy nor 100% bad guy (well except that ceo guy *sigh*)
        Secretary Kang was Jjang ^^
I was so happy with President Gu &No Eul last scene, my little ship has sailed <3

also check the behind the scenes on youtube if you can , they were gold ^^

        2

I was a fan of Gu from the beginning as well. The doctor’s painted him as the villain because…. he was smarter then they thought, not a pushover and he came in and did his job well.

Dear Fox Bride Star (Where Stars Land) Beanies: I suffered myself through watching the last episode (while multitasking during my work lunch) and… 😑
I’m not mad. Just disappointed. The ending was just blah. Meh. Worst than lukewarm. My heart did flutter a little when the main couple kissed (high five to Yeo Reum taking the lead! I loved it!), as well as the cute Security couple moment, but that’s it.
Too many missed opportunities and wasted potential. I was really rooting for a positive message about the less-able-bodied and how the OTP’s love would overcome even physical obstacles!! My fellow Beanies have done a fantastic job summing up just how not-great-or-even-good this ending was. And I am 10000% behind all Beanies who HATED that Soo Yeon’s face is hidden at the end. Shame on you, Show! Shaaaame,
As for the dreaded KDrama Time Skips. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Can someone please explain the completely unreasonable inability for ANY kdrama OTP to stay in touch while they’re apart. What happened to the Internet? Skype? Facetime? Texting ? Whatsapp ? What happened to trying to make a relationship work across oceans because you love each other? What’s 1 year, one measly little year??! And it’s the same in e v e r y Kdrama that uses this stupid plot device! “1 year later…”😒😒😒
And who has the audacity to get jealous after keeping their crush on the hook for a WHOLE YEAR? Who does that? Really, Security Couple ? 😕😕

Any way… on to the next show 😬

The smile sure has left everyone’s eyes now… 💔

Now that the K-version finale is behind us, I’ve finally given in and read the Japanese version. I must say, the K-version was much easier to assimilate and process in my mind. I would have needed weeks of recovery from the emotional scars that the J-version would have given me, had I watched that one😨!

In the end, like most kdramas, it truly all boils down to “proper, honest and straightforward communication with no noble-idiocy-secret-keeping”🤔😑. If only Jin Kang had known more and EARLIER… *sigh*… Both men in her life turned out to be well-intentioned but over-protective and incapable of seeing how strong-minded & solid Jin Kang truly was — and that led to where we are today: morose, with cute montages and joyless somber hearts over a tragedy that could have been avoided, had Jin Gook and Moo Young just trusted Jin Kang’s amazing love and patient determination😔.

Great cast. Awesome cinematography.
Good melo. 💔💔💔

    may contain spoiler
for me, it’s easier to invest in MY-JK romance compare to Ryo-Yuko romance. I like complexity of jversion, that i ended up to hate basically all main characters, lol. but the one that i hate the most is how Ryo died under stupid misunderstanding of Yuko. Seriously, Yuko was so dumb in that final scene. I really wanted to bite my pillow. thanks God, writer is smarter in this kversion. when I saw JK started looking for MY, I was afraid it would end up as jversion was, where Yuko thought the real reason he approached her was because he wanted to kill her beloved brother (i know, dumb right?). Like, really, Yuko ? After spending so much times with him, saying you trusted him and ignoring other people who said otherwise, suddenly drew conclusion without even checking it ??? gaaahh…That’s why i love JK. She’s able to see thru MY lies, and smart enough to know MY should have reason to pull the trigger first.

I think, there’s no noble idiocy here, except that JG ego to keep away thinking it was for her best, when it’s actually for his best. I also don’t see why MY should tell JK. JG and MY problem is their problem, that needs to resolve between them, in their own way, their own pace. letting JK knew earlier or later, the result would still be the same. JG would have reached out to WZ’s sister and the damage still happened.

aww, still heartbreak…guess i will re-run all episodes this weekend.

    2
    1

Moo Young’s father killed Jin Kang’s parents. Then Jin Gook killed Moo Young’s dad. It’s all very much interrelated, like a bad chain reaction and so very much Jin Kang’s business, i.e. She should have been told about all this aaaages by either her brother (who spent all that time warning her with 0 explanation) or her boyfriend (who also pushed her away with 0 closure or explanation).

And noble idiocy is truly all about ego — thinking you’re sacrificing yourself for your true love, keeping them from a bigger hurt, yadee yadee ya. Remember when Moo Young asked Jin Gook to watch over his sister and make sure she knows nothing? Flawed noble idiocy, in my opinion.

Overall, I’m glad I watched the k-version only. Jin Kang is a real soldier of love, smart & discerning, even as she fell in love w the Worst Case of Bad Boy out there.

When you Google the words Tilda Dramabeans to understand who in the hell this Tilda person is that every Beanie makes reference to.

Hehehe – I even google Tilda Dramabeans after reading your post. I watched INAR but had forgotten Tilda’s name (but once I saw a reference to Johnny I remember who she was and what she did). Bad Tilda.

    1

Or when you binge-watch INAR after it finished airing, having read most of the fanwall posts about Tilda, and you scratch your head wondering how the hell such a fleeting character made such a huge impact on the beanies. I still don’t get it. She felt so unimportant and forgetable while binge-watching.

I kept hearing it too. But never bothered to google! Now I know.

Most times, I just watch KDramas without thinking too much on minor plot holes and inconsistencies. I just enjoy the flow of a good story with good actors and believable characters who behave like real organic human beings.
All this to say, I’m ready for your last episodes this week, Fox Bride Star and The Smile Has Left Your Eyes.

Happy Monday!
I finally watched the movie On your wedding day with Park Bo-Young and Kim Young Kwan. Cute, easy watch. It made me realize
1) just how much I\’d love to meet the eety beety teenie PBY in person. I started re-watching Strong Woman Do Bong Soon last week and she\’s soooo damn cute! Teenie pocket-size person!
2) how handsome, funny and cool KYK is, and how I\’d love to see MORE good shows with him as the lead guy. The Lookout was so good, but I need MORE!

I really enjoyed this as well! They were adorable together and KYK being over a foot taller! He’s really a great actor and he does need to do more! I haven’t heard how he’s doing in Room #9, have you?

      hi @ally-le !
no, I haven’t heard how he’s doing on Room 9… or maybe I haven’t been paying close attention? The fact is Room 9 isn’t getting very much Beanie love, so it truly hasn’t piqued my interest… *sigh*
On the up side, I started the movie Hot Young Blood during my lunch break at work and it’s looking promising !! Best of all: it has both Park Bo-Young and Kim Young Kwan in it too !!!

I am here to share my embarrassing gym experience.

Today, I walked into a 55min cardio-strength class at the gym. Within 2mins of the workout, I was reminded exactly WHY I don\’t do group gym classes (except yoga): it was a STEP ROUTINE class and I have ZERO coordination. I mean zilch, nada, niet. I suck at fast foot work routines so much, I don\’t even do zumba. LoL.

I spent the 1st 5mins trying to keep up with the fast instructions and the foot rhythm on – off – around – next to this godforsaken step. By minute # 6, I pasted a fake smile on my face, trying my best to fight the urge to run out of class in frustration. By minute # 7, I was literally doing my own thing. This lasted an excruciating 40mins, when we thankfully moved on to upper body work with weights.

I have never felt so ridiculous in my liiiiiife and unfortunately, the whole class saw me… *sigh*

I washed this embarrassing moment down with a light 15min jog and a 40-min slow yoga session (with a client).

All this to say: I should have stuck to today\’s recommended 6-wk HIIT home video workout 😅😅😅😅

Namaste 🙏🏾

TGIF, dear Beanies!

What’s in store for this weekend?
Now that I have given my final thoughts on the brilliant horror flick that was The Guest and also had my heart wrenched at the impending doom in the beautiful melo 100 Millions Stars from the Sky, I feel a little drained.

I do have a few hours of dramas to catch up on Fox Bride Star and The Beauty Inside . Any recommendations on other shows?

[The following have been dropped, because there are too many good KDramas out there to be wasting time on mediocre ones that don’t engage me after either 3+ eps or even hitting the ½-way mark:
Ghost Detective
Terrius Behind Me
100 Days My Prince]

3

Feel Good to Die!! The premiere this week was real good!

100MSFTS has all my attention now. I watched episode 13&14 of Terius while thinking about 100MSFTS. I guess I won’t be able to watch anything else until it ends.

Besides 100MSFTS My Ahjussi and Life on Mars were the only dramas that I liked from the start to the end. I don’t know how many shows I dropped and there were around 5 shows I finished but with like 40% of the initial interest.
