Beanie level: Water maid

I LOVE the entire subplot about Gwi-nam actually being a super miser and Ji-ah somehow stumbling her way into the truth hahaha. It adds on to the world building that I thought the webtoon lacked and is also super fun! Secretary Yang and Bo-ra are also really nice touches. The webtoon seems to focus mainly on the Young-joon/Mi-so couple, which isn’t too bad as well, but its world is considerably smaller as compared to the drama’s. So yeah, definitely looking forward to seeing Gwi-nam and Ji-ah in action more often!

Have you been watching Rich Man, Poor Woman…? That show does things to the brain.

Ahh Gwi-nam might be my favorite character now ~ I was totally expecting Ji-ah to be a manipulative maknae, but it seems like she’s the only normal one at the company.

Dowoon, nuna loves you so much.

Ahhhh I still remember watching pre-debut you and now you’re a full-fledged musician who’s also super cute

Rewatching ep 4 of WWWSK because it’s on constant replay makes me appreciate how good the use of silence is during the bit where Young-joon sees Mi-so walk home happily after the huge fight with hyung

So good. He didn’t even really need to come in, he saw her and just relaxed. The silence amplified the whole scene.

He doesn’t realize it but he’s doing exactly what Mi-so said she wanted in a relationship – coming home to that one person that instantly makes everything better after a hard day.

I think I can now consider “hearing the people next door getting it on” as one of the weirdest things that has ever happened to me. Seriously tho they were SO loud I think the whole hanok heard them

Could be worse. You could’ve been in the same room.

Oh god I know your pain, I had a flatmate like this. And then the next day around 1PM they start arguing cause she can’t find her bra and is late and WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT’S NOT HERE. I felt like the master of petty revenge – I knew they had left it behind the fridge. Didn’t tell them, moved out a week later.

The culture shock for the Japanese trainees/idols and Korean trainers on Produce 48 seems to be very great

The difference in the dance/vocal abilities is a little too great to say that most of the Korean trainees don’t have an added advantage. Some of the Japanese girls are very charismatic though, which is something I find that the Koreans can lack in quite a bit sometimes

Being in Korea now means getting to watch consecutive re-runs of WWWSK and I am not in the least annoyed at all because guess why

Everyone seems to be nervous about the childhood acquaintances trope but I do truly think it was pretty well used in the WWWSK webtoon. Not that contrived, and I feel like it explains a lot about

how Young-joon became Young-joon (seriously, he becomes Young-joon) and the difference between he and Sung-yeon the hyung. It’s quite heartbreaking actually, because when the truth it revealed it turns on its head EVERYTHING that people have believed about the brothers previously.

Like what the writer said, there are truly no run-of-the-mill evil characters in this drama. But hopefully the drama does show how people can do hurtful things when they only consider their own feelings.

I’m sorry, I know someone posted where we could read the webtoon, but I can’t find it. Would you have the link?

I think you can read the English version at Tappytoon! The one I read is in Chinese (and is quite a bit more ahead of the English one) here.

Seems like they’re expanding Ji-ah’s story which is always awesome heh. Also: CHANSUNG LOL they really dialled down his character here but I appreciate the new (?) aspects they gave him as well??

Knowing the backstory between the bros: Park Seo-joon is so good at the internally hurting thing, Lee Tae-hwan doesn’t yet have the same bite. But omg! So happy the conflict is playing out on TV

I feel like they either conflated certain things into the library scenes or they were added in to further develop the relationship. Either way, I LYKE EET

It is SO weird to hear Lee Tae-hwan refer to Park Seo-joon as his younger brother LOL

I almost thought that he’s Young Joon’s dongsaeng when he called his mother until he called Young Joon by name. What is wrong with casting director? Haha

The boy is 7 years! younger!!! At least he doesn’t look his age. Not sure if he necessarily looks older than PSJ, but in the story they are supposed to be only 2 years apart, so he’s what, playing mid thirties? I love kdrama logic…

      4
      1

Let me do the math. Mi So is 29 y/o and Young Joon is 4 years older than her and Young Joon’s brother is two years older than him. So Lee Tae Hwan is supposed to be 35 in this drama and he’s 23 in real life. LOL

        1
        1

I’m just going to pretend I don’t know anything and assume he was blessed with youthful genes that allow a 35 year old character to look like he’s still in his 20s. lol.

Aaaaaanyway it feels like Park Byung-eun’s cameo has been given the info-finding role that Mi-so’s friend played in the webtoon, so I’m hoping we’ll see him soon again haha!

@spicykimchi it’s alright!! The pictures are quite easy to tell context in and I can help if you wanna! In any case the webtoon takes an old trope and really uses it super well for our main couple. LOVE IT

@kumoiwa– Consider my jaw floored. I saw some of the plot points coming, even the fact that YJ is more aware of things than what he’s letting on but OMG wtf is with the hyung? and can’t his parents set him straight? I mean, HOW is this ok fair to their other son? Also – what an awful thing to deal with as a child. I feel so bad for the poor kid.

            0
            0

@tspmasala yeah it’s a horrific thing for anybody, let alone a child, to go through. I wouldn’t blame his parents though—the main reason why he decided to feign amnesia was because he’d overheard his parents discussing how the psychiatrist had suggested sending Sung-yeon to the mental hospital for treatment if his condition didn’t improve. But still SO SAD

What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim is so wacky and funny! Really enjoying it and kinda hoping it’ll turn out to be like the CEO/secretary Taiwanese romance novels I secretly love reading so much hehehe
