Beanie level: The Goblin’s underpants

I was having a pretty rough day today and got home to see all the lovely comments by Beanies. It made my day, so thank you all for being so kind. :’)

I put lots of love into drawing him (that involved staring at a lot of photos of Tae-woon… not that I minded.) ♥♥ Thank you!

No idea why I was so hesitant to start this show previously… o.m.g. the way he looks at her… T_T I just can’t.

How much do I love that a random gesture while shooting led to such a cute scene in one of the later episodes? So. Cute.

Just picked up on this drama and I hope it melts my hard, cynical, grown-up heart! I definitely don’t recall my schooltimes being this… hot…

Enjoy the ride! It’s truly worth it, every single second. 😉

Lol! I love how hard she’s staring and even when their eyes meet, she doesn’t look away, but just keeps on looking.

Omo. Haha, I was like, “How’d you know my name?” I forgot we talked about it before. Hazel! 😄 Hi~! 👋🏼 It has been awhile! I think I see you around, but I guess we haven’t talked in awhile, huh? How have you been? Enjoying School 2017? I’m actually not watching it… 😅

Me too, honestly, but more discreetly. Haha. I love that it seems like she’d still continue to look even after he yelled “YAH!!!”

Yeah I’ve been around, but not really participating that much in recaps any more because it’s a new school semester for me which means not a lot of time/energy.. How’ve you been doing? ^^

I only juusssst picked up School 2017 because people kept recommending it even though I haven’t been a fan of schooltime dramas for a long time. 2 episodes in only and it’s better than I’d expected!

            Aw, school. What’re you studying?
I’ve been slacking on discussion posts like the recap threads on the main site, too, tbh. Also, I’m so behind on all my shows.

I’ve been well, thanks. Busy with work, but trying to still be an active Beanie again. Heh. No time for anything nowadays!

Have fun watching School! So many Beanies love it, so I hope you do, too, because that’s always a nice feeling.

I’m in Accountancy and Banking! So all numbers, very boring stuff, hah! I’ve been busy and not really in the mood to participate much in discussions either. But I try my best hehe and I do like to write for the theme of the month.

Yesss it’s such a nice feeling to watch a drama that everyone loves! So far, I’m really liking it more than I’d thought I would so that’s always good. ^^

          1
          1

Boring, but stable! Haha. It’s a good field, that accounting. Good for you. Was that your first choice?

Will you be participating in this month’s writing theme?

Mhm! It’s an even better feeling when a show surprises you and you end up liking it more than you thought you would, so yay!

            1
            0

It was my first choice by method of elimination, I guess. Just a practical, good thing to study.

I’m thinking of participating in this month’s theme, though I feel like I participate every month that people must be sick of reading what I write 😅 But I do looooove music-related dramas…

          1
          1

You’re right about that! Good luck with your studies!

Nah, it’s always cool to read everyone’s submissions and all the different takes on the writing prompt, so write away! I look forward to reading yours. 🙂 Doooooo iiiiiiittttt!

Yes! I noticed it too while making the gif. I chalked it off to maybeeee lighting issues, but maybe Goblin underpants are magical and change colour too? LOL.

That is so embarrassing! I still can’t keep my hands from covering my eyes whenever Mr. Chef do something(or anything embarrassing), and in front of the girl he likes! *Yikes*
But I can’t keep myself from laughing, though LOL

Been a while since I’ve been around but I’m finally on my summer break, which means… Recaps here I come! Meanwhile, here’s a little something I drew for a show that I’m really enjoying right now ^^

#BrideoftheWaterGod E3: "I told you I'm a god." This scene is after Soah gets pushed off a building and Habaek suddenly regains his powers. He manages to leap through the glass, and encircles the falling Soah in the body of a water dragon. They land in a large splash of water, and he reminds her that he told her he was a god. I think the concept is interesting because Soah is a psychiatrist, and she has patients who claim all sorts of "nonsensical things". Naturally when she meets Habaek, she chalks him off as someone with a similar condition to her patients, especially with his "I am king of the gods" monologue. I remember a scene where Habaek asks Soah if she knows how amazing it feels to actually have someone believe in what a person says when nobody else does, and Soah is quiet for a moment. I think it's interesting because it's 100% normal for Soah to not have believed Habaek. And yet what Habaek says made sense to me too – I think Soah (and myself) learnt to sympathize with her patients more at that moment. By the way, I'm a sucker for fantasy, so it takes very little to satisfy me. The best thing about this show is watching Habaek slowly understand more about being human, Soah becoming happier, and the two of them just realizing how they each make the other party a better person. They're just going with the flow with how they feel and there's so little angst, which I love. What I don't love is the slow pace and how every episode presents me with more questions. But I'm still enjoying the show quite a bit, so I'm tuning in every week to see how it'll play out.

Probably my favourite scene, and also a monologue on what worked for me and what didn’t in this show. “You’re pretty even when you cry.” Kyaaaa! 😍

#FightMyWay E8: "You're pretty even when you cry." I drew this scene because I was almost going to stop actively watching this show, but this scene made me stay because finally the plot was moving somewhere. Dongman was getting into MMA, and he finally made a move to tell Aera about his feelings. I liked this show, and the chemistry between the leads was insane but I felt like I didn't get the 4-person friendship the show promoted itself to be. Most of the time I was frustrated with Seolhee's doormat behavior and Jooman's inability to stop leading the intern on. When AR and DM got together, they somehow became a lot less interesting, especially with AR constantly telling DM not to fight Taksu. I understood her POV, but I wanted to root for DM to fight Taksu and win. In the end, the fact that AR didn't become an announcer felt like the show had built it up and then I was left hanging. I think it's realistic because not everybody gets to live their dreams, but I personally can't understand why she gave up the KBC announcer interview for the MMA one, especially since she's always expressed her dislike for fighting for sport. It felt like she did it because DM would be fighting in the MMA. Beyond that, Hyeran/creepy Kyunggoo's redemptions felt too rose-tinted for me, especially since HR's been exceptionally nasty and seems like she has a horrible personality. Overall, I enjoyed the show, but insane chemistry can't sell a show completely for me, so I can't deny that there were many points when I skipped this show over for other ones. Still a pretty decent watch though!

Wish I had time to join the recaps but 1) Is this where E16 of SWDBS was shot? 2) I really want to be Shin Se Kyung right about now. (Because she looks so pretty, get your minds outta the gutter ;))

Really wouldn’t mind a hug! I loved E9 and my fingers are itching to draw Yeok as well even though I might really have second lead syndrome…

Revealing an Instagram that I’ve never talked about here… Because I had so much to say about Yung and not enough word limit here. Hope you guys like the drawing, it’s my first time drawing a sageuk!

#SevenDayQueen E5: When Chaekyung first meets Yeonsangun again after 5 years. (Just a note on the drawing, but I used artistic license with the clothing patterns, and did little roses on his sleeve hems because I really loved how he painted the China roses red.) I loved the lightheartedness of this scene with the music and the slow motion running through the marketplace. I loved how she was so ready to protect him, standing with her arms spread wide to hide him from the chasing women, how she beamed at him so brightly afterward, and how he tried his best not to look so pleased when he realized it was her. When Yeonsangun told her to stop calling him "hyungnim" (presumably because it reminded him of Yeok), she switched to "orabeoni" so easily, and I love Yeonsangun's semi-flustered expression at that. It's actually really endearing to see all the fleeting tenderness on his face when he interacts with Chaekyung. I started this show with the intention to dislike Yeonsangun. It made sense: he was a tyrannical king, he was horrible toward his younger brother… He was set up to be the villain. But what I did not expect was for SDQ to paint such a compelling character that would make me like him so much. Perhaps the insecure child in me can relate to Yeonsangun, told at a young age by his father that he would ruin the country – what a way to crush a young boy's ambitions and create a self-fulfilling prophecy. I imagined Yeonsangun, torn from his mother at a young age, mocked by his father, and then later discovering that his mother had actually been killed, in addition to the fact that he loved Yeok so much that he tried so hard to tamp down on his insecurities and spare Yeok's life, and my heart went out to him completely.
