Beanie level: Errand boy

Hide and Seek ep 12. We found out how Soo A became Yeon Joo and have been living with her current mom. Current Mom is a good person at heart but at the time she was desperate to save her daughter. To me, she felt guilty for being an accomplice of a kidnapping and at the end couldn’t let the little girl go after seeing how much she clinged onto her.

If you love watching people doing crazy horrible things, then yes it’s good. It sounds not that compelling at first but since the plot and characters are crazy from the start it’s easier to go along.

Hide and Seek ep 11. Mom asked Yeon Joo to disguise as Soo A without knowing they’re real mother and daughter. For Yeon Joo, she’s seeking revenge on Chae Rin for “stealing” her love Eun Hyuk. Chae Rin discovers this and Yeon Joo is playing innocent. Does the psycho gene runs in the family ?

Hide and Seek ep 9. It wasn’t right for Eun Hyuk to kiss Chae Rin 1) on his wedding day 2) without her consent. And Yeon Joo/Soo A caught them. What could be worse ? Yeon Joo running away and attempting suicide. Was there a worse wedding day in dramaland ?

In this episode we saw Yoon in action. Unlike what he told Hwa Pyung, he has experience in exorcism and had been helping the late Priest Han. I have the bad feeling he might end up like him at the end of the drama which I don\’t hope for. His exorcism on the possessed dad in the hospital room was intense. One thing I love during exorcism scenes is seeing the spirit trying to disturb the priest and eat his soul. It makes a great psychological fight. I thought all along that the spirit was \”Sohn/Park Do Il\” but it was an inferior spirit with the same power (?). Still strong but not the real deal. So, Park Do Il controls multiple inferior spirits and he makes them possess people or are they free spirited (no pun intended) and are of the same kind as him, like a water spirit/demon. Young Hwa Pyung \”controlled\” many spirits as we know, much like Park Do Il. Therefore, I think there must be an explanation for their connection.

I like the Gil Young and Hwa Pyung dynamic. I would\’ve been sceptic if I were in her shoes but she could at least suspend her disbelief, well as much as possible, to rescue the daughter. She still has to digest everything that\’s happening before acepting Hwa Pyung\’s help.

To me it seems like park il do is the superior spirit who controlled the spirit in this episode. Since this guy was thirsty all the time, I assume both the spirits are from the east sea.
I don’t think HP controlled multiple spirits did he? He was possessed by park ildo. And if what I guess is right, he’s still possessing the priest who murdered his family in the 1st ep. Both HP and yoon seem to be searching for him.

    1
    1

Yeah I think you’re right about both spirits being from the east sea.
I don’t remember who said it, maybe the shaman(?), someone said Young Hwa pyung controlled weak spirits. I assumed it was him but he/she must have been talking about Park Do Il.

So, to stop Park Il Do they have to find the young priest. I wonder how they’re going to take him/it down.

That’s what I’m guessing. Both of them inquired about priest choi (that’s the name I think). Also Yoon is technically his brother. Will be interesting to see what they do with it.

        2

Can Yoon’s brother be saved at this point ? Possessing a family member is the best way to make the plot all the more fun !

          1

I don’t think so. Do you? It’s been so many years since he was possessed. Also judging by the no of cases, he’s already done too much damage. It’ll definitely be fun to see the reunion of the brothers ( but we sound like sadists LOL)

I want to have hope for the brother but this outcome doesn’t seem plausible.
It’s okay to be sadists with this kind of show XD

Thoughts on The Guest\’s first episode.

First of all, Coffe Prince reunion yeah ! Even if Kim Jae Wook and Kim Dong Woo still haven\’t shared screentime. I liked Jung Eun Chae\’s performance in Return, so it\’s good to see how she will do as a cop.

The opening was nice. Explaining what \”Sohn/the Guest\” is and seeing how horrible this spirit is helped getting easily into the story. The shaman practices were wonderfully shot, colors, sounds, acting were perfect and enchanting. Well, until death happened. All of possessions and death/murdering scenes were really good. As expected of ocn, it has lots of blood. The atmosphere just before someone became a victim of the spirit was thrilling. Nice job for the young priest house\’s and Hwa Pyung\’s household sequence ! It was beautifully creepy.
I didn\’t expect the main trio to be connected during childhood and in such a twisted way. I thought it was not necessary but it will bring more complexity to their future teamwork. So good job to the writer for laying this background for the trio AND the spirit. There will be lots of personal conflicts, especially on Hwa Pyung and Yoon\’s side. Kil Young doesn\’t believe in paranormal phenomons and I can already see her disbelief discovering what really happened to her mother. I can\’t wait for the three of them to get together.

The case that is bringing Kil Young and Hwa Pyung (for now) in present days was an interesting one. My question is, how will Kil Young explain that the culprit was possessed by a spirit and killed his wife and boss ?

I didn\’t quite understand how \”the Guest\” possessed the young priest. Young Hwa Pyung whispered to his ears and that\’s how he was possessed ? And where did the spirit go after all these years ? Killing and possessing people, yes. But how does it choose its victims ? Does it only target random weak people ? And how can the trio stop it ? It seems like it has been living forever. Also, I hope we\’re getting our trio chasing after other spirits or even fake spirits for other cases beside the main plot.

When the possessed Hwa-pyung whispered into the young priest’s ear, I got this thought in my head that the possession was contagious, like the flu. I do not think that that is how the possession actually works, but I just got that feeling. I do think that the spirit preys on human weakness and dark thoughts (resentment, etc.), but I hope that we get a better explanation of how things work. ‘Cause if it were that simple, then everyone is a potential host for this spirit.

    1
    1

I thought of it like passing like a sickness too but like you said possession doesn’t happen this way. We clearly need more details about the spirit, the possession and how it chooses its preys like you said.
For example, why didn’t the spirit possess Dad or Grandpa ? Was it because they were strong in a way ? Dad had strong belief in the dead shaman’s words and Grandpa just belived in Hwa Pyung ? The senior priest (Ahn Nae Sang) obviously has strong belief and the young one didn’t have enough. Also, did the spirit went back to the East Sea after this or directly jumped on another victim ? So many questions..

      1

Seems like HP is following the priest to different cities. Presumably, by tracking similar cases which are stuck on his wall. Maybe the spirit continued his killing spree by possessing the same guy.

        2
        1

The spirit possessed the man in wheelchair so we follow your reasoning it means it possesses the priest and some else. Maybe it just jumped from the priest to a random person and then come back to the priest.
