Hang in there @mary – Maybe you could get through it by singing “Spamalot” while wiping them out!

I’ve noticed a recurring colorful avatar. Hwaiting!!! Does it make you feel better or worse that I always think of you when I see a spam post?

They need to up their name choice game. I haven’t seen many that I like as much as Damian Knitter.

Sorry Mary there is a troll on the drama news thread about Vagabond.(Many foul acronyms are being used)
I admit I should not have fed the troll but in my defense I thought reasoning would work. I should have known better. 😞

I wanted to tag you but I can’t find the right “Mary”. Sorry about this and to give you more work.
    Thanks as always.

After going through the fanwalls for a spam sweep and drowning in gifs, my thirsty self wants to start WWW just for that Lee Da-hee ship.

20

You should because that’s exactly what I did and don’t regret anything at all. But I also ONLY watched their scenes so that’s why I wasn’t frustrated by anything else.

    6
    1

I’ve considered that. The main ship irritates me so much I couldn’t get through the show itself, but if someone made a cut of JUST LDH’s scenes…

Maybe it’s time I should learn how to make compilation videos……

You should! I’m actually enjoying all of the characters. I love shows with strong women.

You should! The Lee Da-hee ship is amazing but Jeon Hye-Jin’s divorce from her mother-in-law (sorry, husband of course) is great too.

Are you watching or tried I Wanna Hear Your Song? So much sexy Song Jae-rim, I was surprised(and pleased) and of course after having been on drama beans for awhile I immediately thought of you!

@bebeswtz spammers can do anything normal users can do. Not all of them are bots. Some are actual people registering with non-shady emails and manually posting stuff.

Don’t ask how or why I know this, but there’s a huge difference in cuteness between google search results for “crocodile butt” and “cat butt”

27

But, I really, really want to ask.

Sometimes an answer just leads to more questions. Like this: “it’s for a program”.

You made me google crocodile butt in the middle of the grocery store.

This brings back memories of apple butt.

I just googled crocodile butt and I wish I didn’t. Thanks Mary!!!! 🙃

Oh how I laughed! thank you @mary – now watch crocodile butt and cat butt become top search words!
I’m with you RenOlshi and now wish I hadn’t searched crocodile butt.
Of course I had to search cat butt and that was even worse.
thank you for a big giggle!

Are you watching WWW? Don’t you want to hack? 😈

I haven’t started it yet! Huhu it’s ironic that after being an IT Bean, I got even less time to watch shows and write code and hang out in comments section :’(

      1

That stinks! But you are the one who keeps us going, so we’re very grateful.

I hope you’ll have time for WWW especially since it’s all about IT.

Netflix picked up Oh Jak-doo hihi

11

I watched this movie, Arrival (2016) on Netflix and it opens with Max Richter’s On the Nature of Daylight… the same music that plays during crucial parts of Light in Your Eyes. I’M NOT OKAY.

4
4

Apparently it was used in Shutter Island too.

So I won’t trust any show/movie that uses it from now on. T_______T

    4
    0

@mary, I don’t recall how I stumbled across this piece of music, but it really speaks to me. So do other pieces by Max Richter.

Thanks for the news that ARRIVAL is available on Netflix. It is on my to-watch list. I haven’t seen SHUTTER ISLAND, which is another film that used this in its soundtrack.

LIGHT IN YOUR EYES, like DEAR MY FRIENDS, is the kind of drama I need to be in the right mood to watch. The subject matter hits close to home. If it uses this music, then I already know my goose is cooked. On the other hand, it has a great cast. Kim Hye-ja got a Daesang for her performance, and Lee Jung-eun Best Supporting Actress.

Hiiiiiiii! I knew you’d eventually find this post since it’s about background music. :’)

Re: Arrival, I watched it not knowing that it received so many accolades along with the source novel (I honestly was just looking for my next alien/end-of-the-world fix). What a surprise gem. :O

      1
      1

Oooh! If ARRIVAL gets the IT Goddess Seal Of Approval, then I have even more reason to watch it. 😉

Ryu Deok-hwan is such a hot little sh*t. When will he join Jang-poong’s team?

7
5

Ikr. After last week’s eps I thought he’d be on team JangPoong in this week’s eps but it didn’t happen. I think greed is starting to consume him. He already tried to frame JangPoong twice.

But yay for DuKgu and MalSok! I was ready to cry for him after she had his revenge on him lol They are just so cute and adorable together.

    3
    1

I don’t think Lawyer Do Ha will go over to Jang Poong without a fight. He obviously wants the company… he’ll probably face Congressman Yang soon, which should be an interesting conflict.

And LOL that I’m not the only one shipping Do Ha with the Prosecutor. Jo Jang Poong ships them too 😂

Deok Gu and Mal Sok ❤️

    @mary,

I totally agree! Did you see RDH in GOD’S QUIZ: REBOOT? I loved it, and thought that Kim Jae-won did a fantastic job as the antihero.

I didn’t realize that SPECIAL LABOR INSPECTOR JO has Ryu Deok-hwan AND Oh Dae-hwan in addition to Kim Dong-wook… three of my all-time faves. I couldn’t have juggled any more shows anyway, although it’s been on my to-watch list since it was announced. CROWNED CLOWN, HAECHI, and NOKDU FLOWER have been hogging my emotional bandwidth — and giving me Cast Of Thousandsitis. 😉

    1
    1

God’s Quiz is in my to-watch list but tiiiiime :((

I’m weirdly attached to Oh Dae-hwan too haha even if he usually plays villains or annoying sidekicks, there’s always something about his portrayal that I end up liking.

      1
      1

Oh Dae-hwan caught my eye as the leader of the trio of thugs who did the fake princess’s dirty deeds in THE KING’S DAUGHTER, SOO BAEK HYANG. He’s also played a couple of memorable cops in LIFE ON MARS and ROOM NO. 9. I can’t quite put my finger on why I enjoy his acting so much. Maybe because he goes for broke. He’s a dandy supporting actor.

Added incentive for GOD’S QUIZ: REBOOT — Kim Jae-wook’s cameo. You read that right. Heh heh heh. 😉

About the weird notifications, can you describe it more? Or send me a sample notification link you’re getting? Thank you~

    1
    1

      @mary, @lordcobol,

I’ve been clicking on the usual notifications, which frequently (but not always) dump me in the midst of a comment thread, often nowhere near one of my own posts, so I cannot tell which comment the notification is pointing to. It makes it difficult to respond.

We discussed this issue within the last year or so. I think you said that it was some kind of timing issue. It had been pretty okay since then, with occasional incompleted pointers. My sense is that it has become noticeably more frequent lately. Mr. P. pointed out that a lot of HTML may have to load when the system brings up the page in the browser. I only have 4 gigs of RAM, and with a bunch of tabs open, that may force the CPU to swap to disk, slowing down the the page loading so it times out before the pointer gets to its target. (At least that’s what I think he said.) This may not be a DB issue at all. Maybe I just need to have fewer tabs open when I’m posting and reading replies. 😉

Ah ha. If I hover on a notification before clicking it, I can see my permalink number that it references, so that’s one way to see where it is supposed to point. I wonder if the URLs are getting too long because of my long username?

In other news, I looked at my notification settings, and was mystified to see that EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS were set to DAILY. I’m surprised, because I’m almost positive that I hadn’t set it to that. I rarely check my email, and only use the web notifications, which I have assumed are displayed when I log in to DB.

Has there been a recent change to DB’s notification system / software, perhaps with a different default than previously? Just wondering — as a reality check. 😉

I use FireFox on Win7, and for the heck of it, logged in on Mr. P’s Win7 box via Chrome and FF — both of which displayed my stats. So then I followed @lordcobol‘s clue about ad blockers. I whitelisted DB, and voila! The stats appear again, and I’m glad to be able to allow ads but block the doggone trackers that I detest.

Thanks for your help, Chingus! I bring these technical issues up only because other Beanies may be having similar challenges — or I might be the canary in the coalmine, and want to alert you to changes in system performance before it gets out of hand. You guys are zzang!

FWIW, I can make her comment count, post count, etc, appear or disappear by toggling ad-blocker filters.

Others have noted in the past that ad-blockers can make things like the “Follow” button disappear. I have in fact found that with more than one ad-blocker program, BUT, within my current blocker, all is well with the default filter list and most of the optional ones, but the filters that talk about “social media buttons” or “social media and related widgets” will disrupt DB’s display.

Hopefully you get some good rest soon, Mary!😀
