When you are on vacation and the weather is not cooperating…..

13
12

This is the type of weather I want on my vacations!

    4
    1

Haha. The attractions are mostly outdoor and I am going around by public transportation, so this kinda weather is not good. ☔

      3
      2

Okay why did the poem ‘Weather the weather be fine cross my mind?’ Weird.

        2
        1

I know, mostly people enjoy rain only when they’re indoors but I just love rain, my favorite thing to do when it rains is go to the beach, so yeah, it’s just me, I’m weird, LOL!

        4
        2

Nope don’t think you are weird I myself prefer rainy over sunny. I just find it beautiful. And peaceful when I am indoors. But I love being out in the rain.

          2
          2

Now at the beach that would be interesting. But no beach where I live.

            1
            0

Yes, and the smell of rain is EVERYTHING!
All we have where I live is beaches, so yeah, the minute it starts raining I run to the beach!

            3
            0

You are not weird. I love walking on the rain too, but not when I have to squeeze in a train/bus later. I don’t think other people will appreciate that. 😋

          3
          1

Yes, I see how that could be annoying a little!
Also, maybe it’s because we don’t get that much rain here so I understand how others find it bothersome when it rains all the time for them!

            2
            0

Oh no! I hope it turns sunny or there is a break in the rain ☀️

Thank you, Show, for making me laugh really hard and making me cry equally hard for 12 episodes. From the moment I saw you, I knew you are special. You will have a special place in my heart forever.

Saying goodbye… Sil-tuuuu!!! 😭😭😭 TUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!

Moon Seok goo is the most enigmatic character in kdramas of 2019. I will die on that hill. Dude had the best poker face all year. Lee Dong hwi nailed it and more than held his own against the great Kim Byung chul.

Can’t wait for the final showdown, but on the other hand, don’t want this to end.

#SecretBoutique16 (Final)

I personally want a more bloody end for Chairwoman Kim, but I guess this ending is more inline with the show’s message. At least she was not lying when she said that her son is her everything.

For a character that I didn’t care much since the beginning of the show, Ye Nam’s character development is the most satisfactory. I was touched by her confessions, both to her mom and to Do Young. And she finally owned up to all her mistakes.

Last but not least, Jung Hyuk. How could someone so nice came from someone so evil. His letter to Do Young made me into a sobbing mess. I felt like his message to Do Young is also a message to us viewers.

#SecretBoutique15

Ah… a super tough week for Jenny and us.

Jung Hyuk… 😭😭 He did nothing but being nice and loving, but he was hurt and lost the most. He was also stuck between a rock and a hard place. No matter how things turned out, someone he loves would get hurt. There’s just no way out for him. 😢

It’s so like Chairwoman Kim to turn that into Jenny’s fault too. Ugh… let’s see how you get to hell. Hopefully, it’s by the most painful means possible.

Sun Woo: I’ve returned home. NO, YOU’RE NOT!! 😭😭

4

They better not cancel tonight’s eps again because honestly I can’t handle another week of waiting after that ending

    2
    1

I don’t think they’ll cancel the last episode. I am kind of glad they postponed this one until this week though. Imagine having to wait 1 week with that cliffhanger!

      1

Jung Hyuk… Sun Woo… This episode was hard to watch.

So much cute! There’s so much cuteness at the end that I forgive the show for not wiping that smirk off Yeol Moo’s face.

I just finished watching it and I feel the same. This show surprised me in both good ways and bad. But the last three episodes are just so worth it and today’s was just so good and so satisfying. Two amazing episodes of two different shows in one day. Today is such a good day. πŸ™‚

    6
    1

Haha. Glad you have a good day. May we have more good days in kdramaland! 🙂

      4
      1

Though technically it was yesterday night when I watched the other so that actually makes it two good days. Anyway I chose the perfect timings to live watch shows and then join Dramabeans. I mean these two months have been full of very good dramas, even though I was not sure about watching dramas different from my usual choice of mostly Rom-coms. I mean My country, Catch the ghost and Pegasus market, even Miss Lee and I even wasn’t sure about continuing Nokdu after it became too serious. But I am so glad and even delighted I decided to watch them anyway.

        2
        0

It’s okay; posterity remembers him as a terrible king. Let him smile all he wants. We know he was an power-hungry immoral creep (in real life and in this show).

    7
    1

But the actor did such a good job portraying him! I loved to hate him but I kind of felt sorry for him too.

      4
      1

At the end, he did let NokDu and Dongju go and live their lives together.

And he did love to feed people food he made himself.

And,…the mad king depicted in this drama really did need to be dethroned.

        4
        1

I was disappointed with the ending for the crazy King. I expected it to be more bloody. But… I forgive.

          2
          2

I was confused for few episodes when the writer decided to depict him as a nice ahjussi. It was so jarring to see him the next moment as power hungry monster.

            4
            0

@cherryinbloom The characterization and plotlines in this drama are all half-baked except for Nokdu and Dong Joo. I was excited when Yeol Moo turned evil and bloody, but he didn’t mount to be anything more after that. The crazy King was shown to have no qualm in slaying anyone with sharp objects, yet, he let Nokdu got away just because the Queen threaten to kill herself. I was surprised he didn’t slay her himself, actually.

#PsychopathDiary2

I am not sure who I like more. The psychopath wannabe who is played by Yoon Shi Yoon and likes to watch psychological thrillers, or the real psychopath with a secret lair who loves to write on his old fashion diary with a fountain pen.

Btw, why do all psychopaths love to listen to classical music with a sip of red wine?

4
3

Tell me if this is good.

Frankly, I am sick of psychopaths as depicted in kdramas. I wish writers can use more creativity and work harder to give better villains. Ordinary people committing extraordinarily bad or evil things. Don’t just give us extraordinarily evil people. The former would be much more chilling.

Listening to classical music while sipping wine and it must be red? He’s probably also very good looking, dresses smart and loves to eat steak. Rare please, preferably with blood oozing.

    2
    1

I don’t think this will be good, but just an okay drama. Concept is old. Nothing groundbreaking like Pegasus Market. I don’t have other dramas to watch and this is light drama + I love YSY and like Jung In Sun, so I will stick with this one.

      0
      0

The real psychopath is the only interesting character so far and he has also had the least amount of screen time so that should tell you something.

Yeahhhhhhh…..how could almost 3 hours of footage go absolutely nowhere.

#MyCountry15
I no longer know what this drama is trying to do.

4
20

Uh oh. I tried to get as little spoiler as possible about this drama because I wanted to marathon it after it finishes airing. But from what I saw in the fan wall it seems like the story derailed quite a bit in the later eps.

Say, if my latest experience with historical drama is with Haechi, Nokdu Flower, and Jumong, will I be mightily disappointed by My Country?

    2
    1

      Yes.

      1
      2

        Ouch.
Dropping it from the to-watch list then. Thanks for saving fellow beanie from future suffering and rage. 😉

        1
        2

          Was Haechi any good?

          1
          2

It’s quite good. Not as spectacular as Nokdu Flower and so much more male-dominated, but I like that I can learn a bit about Korean history from it. And it’s nice to see the story of a forward-thinking king in that era, for once.

            2
            0

I enjoyed very much the gang of friends and the ML’s development. FL’s arc was an utter disappointment, she started great and at some moment decided to become a wallflower to stick by her man. All in all, the show is overall entertaining (I didn’t ff a single bit) and it felt like they more or less respected History

            3
            0

Heh. Maybe you can still keep it in your watch list, but move it to lower priority.

I didn’t watch Jumong, so I can’t say, but this is definitely NOT Nokdu Flower. Nowhere near. It’s more like Haechi with Jang Hyuk owning the show and a romance that I can’t get behind. The first 12 episodes, at least, were good.

          1
          0

That bad, he? I’ve been enjoying this show so much that I’ll stick with it to the bitter end. They can’t ruin it so much in only 2 more epds, can they?

        2
        1

I will also stick to the bitter end. Haven’t watched 16 yet. Hope they didn’t totally ruin it. Lets just say at the end of this one, I didn’t just rolled my eyes at HJ only, like I usually did.

          1
          0

Didn’t get there yet, but I was flabbergasted by the end of ep 14. What was that?

    2
    1

Same here. For me, it’s SunHo. I’ve lost track of him starting from Episode 13. I’ve given up making sense of his character. It feels like he is creating conflict just for the sake of it. I will sit through the last two hours just to see what happens to him and Hwi.

    4
    1

Characters seem to be in a rut

      3
      2

It would’ve been better if the two of them just sailed away together, minus swords, bows and arrows 🤣😂

        5
        0

They really shouldn’t invent these fictional characters, gave them noble purposes and then wrote them into something unrecognizable at the end.

        2
        0

*Sigh*Haven’t seen it yet but is it that bad?

    2
    2

It’s not that bad in a general context. I was still riveted with events leading to the 2nd Strife of Princes. It is just SunHo in particular who has lost footing for me. I can’t make sense of his character’s motivation at this point in the drama.

      4
      1

😔 I wish their fall out didn’t start till later in the show.
Their friendship in the first episode is still my favorite. I just wish there were more on how they met and came to be close friends. I wanted more Sun-ho and Yeon too.

But they had to rush rush rush to cover historical events that should not have been the focus of the show.

        4
        1

I think more background on their friendship would have helped as they’ve been written as this star-crossed pair, but the build up wasn’t there for me to feel it.

          2
          0

I won’t spoil you, but this episode I lost Sun Ho too. Totally did.not.get.him. 🙄

New character infiltration. I am glad she is no real threat. That ship has sailed! Seok Goo, that was smooth. I also like that scene with Bok Dong and Kwon this episode.

Is this show a fantasy show, I can’t tell the genre?? Curious honestly.

    1
    2

Is “absurd” (in a good way) a genre?😀
I’d say it’s a comedy. Try it out!

      3
      1

Ah there probably is a genre for it but it’s probably not called absurd cause there is already a genre called Absurdist which I don’t know if it is the same thing. But I am not sure from the wiki article I just read about it (the genre).

        1
        0

It is a genre of its own. This show is so brilliant that I do not know how to describe it. Agree with @halfmoon. You just gotta watch it to know. πŸ˜€

Beanies, I am officially in limbo!!

@katakwasabi, SSR day has now also marked the day I entered into Errand Boyhood. 😁 And btw, it was my comment on 🌻 that did it. Of course, all those rants on Hee Jae (My Country) and Vagabond big baddie helped too.

Gotta run…. errands! 🤨🤨

1. Why was Yeol Moo surprised that the King is dead? And why did he just stand there and let the Queen spilt all the beans instead of giving out the order to kill already?
2. Why is the Queen’s outfit so pretty?
3. Why is Nokdu’s scene with the King, which was in his thought, appeared in Dong Joo’s flashback?
4. Why can’t non-dad and Hyung moved to a safe place before they had a heart-to-heart talk?
5. Why is Yeol Moo so crazy and delusional when it comes to Dong Joo?
6. Why is Sook and gang so cool?
7. Why did they keep repeating they can’t live without each other?
8. Why do we have to watch another episode with the King in it?

7
12

Why did no one else ID Yul-mu as the traitor? Why did no one else defend Nokdu? Where was the Queen? And who was the scheming woman in white?

I suppose it’s all a setup for Yul-mu being in a position to exile the king, and the king then learning bitterly who was defending his throne and who was leading the revolt. It also allows Nokdu and Dong-joo to leave town. But it doesn’t explain why Yul-mu would let them live.

    1
    2

Also how is the Muweol corps supposed to escape after challenging the king and covering Nokdu’s escape?

      1
      1

‘Cuz the stupid King believed Yeol Moo was trying to help and Nokdu was scheming to be the King since he knew his identity and purposely stayed close to the King. The King is crazy and no one dared to say anything lest they got slayed too. That’s all.

The woman in white was the King’s step mother, previous King’s wife.

Queen was sent to some other palace nearby by the King. She sneaked back after hearing the King had left the palace.

      1
      0

    1. because they had this whole plan to justify their revolt and make nok du kill the king so yul moo could be the hero who saved the nation

I read Laica’s review and some light spoilers online, but I was still rendered speechless. The other movie that did this to me was “Crash”. That one I went in without knowing anything. My friend and I thought it was some kind of comedy since it has Sandra Bullock. Boy were we so wrong… LOL.

Hwa Wool and Man Bok… their happiness and bliss makes me uneasy. 😟

What?!?! Another time jump??? 😮 Although it’s shorter this time (only 2 years), the time jump seems to bring bad hair for Bang Won and bad fashion for Sun Ho. 😒

WHAT THE HELL is that ending, show? 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
