As much as I loved the scenic backdrop of Spain, I’m so glad we’re returning to Seoul next ep, coz boy am I ready for some answers – anything to put me out of my misery! I don’t want a repeat of ‘W’!
I usually don’t care much for news articles containing the words “boyband”, “Kpop” and “One Direction” all in the same sentence, but the piece written in yesterday’s Guardian was well worth the read!
Aww looks like Do-rae couple had their moments behind the scenes too – playful banter galore! And I’m so going to miss Kwak Dong-yeon’s antics! The guy is an absolute nutcase, LOL!
This finale was too friggin’ cute for words. I’m really going to miss those subtle details in dialogue/directed expressions!! KS totally overheard Mi-rae having her little squee sesh. A-dorable! 💖

– Their bus ride to school – I usually find the whole lay your head on my shoulder super awkward in dramas, but it looked so natural with these two! <3
– MR & KS going to SA's rescue, but still hating on her. She was definitely past the point of sympathy, but they did was was right. The way they parted with SA's character was reasonable too. Really liked it.
– KS's dad getting served by his former sidekick, and then later his ex-wife lol.
– Tae-hee ending it with trash formally and without regret.
– Eun!! Just loved everything about her character!
– KS calling to pick MR up – too adorable
– WY sunbae and his closure – like that he remained significant right till the very end. Show didn't just forget about him
– The actress who played SA – great acting from her this episode especially.
– When MR let out all that steam and told SA it's like talking to a brick wall
– KS & MR dating openly in class
– the fact that KS & MR communicate every step of the way, and off screen too – lol when he told everyone he'd make sure not to kiss her in class was his way of being nice/opening up to people as he promised he would to MR
– KS's "i'm taken" ID LOL
– KS sitting next to MR in class – puppy follows her everywhere!
– KS's birthday party and his pissy mood prior to it thinking she'd forgotten
– That second backhug and adorable smooches!!
– Him giving her a heads up of wanting to propose sometime in the future lol
– their couple tees!!
Ahh, seriously too much too love!! So glad I caught this drama in live mode. It made it doubly fun to watch! Looking forward to one final squee sesh!!
I really do think DSK likes her more: it’s like he needs her to breath ( but in a good, healthy way lol). He’s just so happy to hear her man and I can’t get over how much he wants to announce it to everyone hehehhe
Kyungsuk is just more expressive with his feelings. If he didn’t then both of them are doomed bottling this all in. But like Mirae said to Eun, they equally love each other. Mirae initiated the matching hoodie! She loves him enough to wear cheesy things like this in public, displaying their affection. Something she would never ever dreamed of doing before – be the centre of attention.
I really love this reversal in the drama. Usually it’s the male lead who are not into showing off affection and it’s the girl who does everything in the relationship.
She definitely became a lot more confident in initiating skinship & affection!! Really proves her point about not easily being intimidated – love that it was her friendship and then later romance with DKS which brought her out of her shell.
-I totally love that “should we sleep now” scene. I`m still dying. And the fact that it took every ounce of Kyungsuk to reply “What?” and his voice still shook. Like OMG.
And when she came out, he got up immediately all alert. LOL. Like what were you thinking she came out for??!!!
-That CCTV was so epic. I died. How many times did I die??? Kyungsuk couldn’t sleep from spazzing internally, but he was knocked out after going nuts about where tf that CCTV is in the house. LOL. And then when Mirae confirmed that there was no CCTV, he asked for more minutes to sleep. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAH He just lost 10 years of his life right there
-I forgot I didn’t even wish Kyungsuk a happy birthday yesterday! I was too busy crying and spazzing! Happy belated birthday Kyungsuk! Seeing your date by that amazing mountain view, I knew you had a blast!
Is the mountain view the very same one from the first episode!? If so, that’s such an awesome bit of detail. LOL forgot the bit where she came out of her room the second time, and how he totally flailed about as a result. Seriously, his mind wandered one too many times in this final episode.
Gangnam ID Ep16: Awwww, now that’s what you call a perfectly happy ending!! I don’t think I’ve ever fallen so hard for a female lead before, but Mi-rae was just smashing all the way through. ❤️❤️❤️
I LOVE ALL THE LADIES (hmmm ehh except Soo Ah, sorry I know I’ve been really nega about her. She’s not bad and I liked her in ep 16, but meh V_V) ANYWAYS I LOOOOOOVE ALL THE LADIES IN THE SERIES.
SPECIAL MENTION ON EP 16: MIRAE, CEO NA, TAE HEE! Was fidgeting so hard when Ceo Na was talking to her ex husband but dude you don’t even know how old she is??? And here you are spouting stuff about loving only 2 woman in your life? LOL I CANNOT.
Tae Hee – major standing ovation for knowing her worth. She knows she deserved better.
Mirae – I don’t need to say. She’s an awesome babe through and through.
It was very hard to feel sorry for SA at any point in the drama tbh!! But I like that the other characters helped her through it, not necessarily because they liked her all of a sudden, but because it was the right thing to do. I liked that. It wasn’t all hunky dory for the awful characters, they each got their comeuppance in some way or another! So satisfying!
Yes me too. And Kyungsuk dashing off to catch Dong Won and getting riled up over what he might have done. Mirae commented on how awesome (not explicitly but implied!) he was at that time.
Very glad that Soo Ah didn’t become suddenly friends with them again – it would just feel forced and unrealistic. Them moving on with no hard feelings is really a perfect way to wrap up.
Putting the two adorable puppies aside, I actually felt pretty bad for Soo-ah this ep. I kinda wish they would have taken a more gradual approach with her story, rather than hitting us with it right at the very end. We would have spared her some of that intense hatred had they taken the former approach! But also, we’d have gotten the chance to sympathise with her a tad bit more.
This is why in the webtoon, sad and tragic her story is, I could not sympathize with her. The webtoon is still not translated to end, so we are still on Soo Ah’s arc, but we’ve seen snippets of her past (pretty much what the drama portrayed tonight), but I just can’t. I think about the things she did and said to Mirae, I simply can’t. Kyungsuk and I are the same, we side eye Mirae for being too nice to her. She too is a victim of “beauty” trapped in the eyes of society that’s judging cruely, but how she copes up with it was just something I cannot overlook.
And What?! You hated Mirae because her plastic surgery came out good and that makes you not so rare anymore? Pity, her mindset is really a f. up.
I love the gentleness of the kiss, but what really got me is how emotional it is leading up to it. The final step, an important and a big one: Mi-rae is able to let the man she loves to re-visit her old face, the source of her long suffering and her deep insecurity. She is able to do so because the man she loves sincerely misses it. He sees her as the woman she is, grown from the girl she was.
Just pure love. It has been a long while that I feel this satisfied about a first kiss.
I’ve said it before, but damn I seriously love LSH’s acting!! She displays Mi-rae’s insecurities in every fleeting expression. You’re right, the lead up to the kiss was incredibly emotional. Full of warmth, but also heartbreaking at the same time, knowing how fearful she was of being rejected due to her former portrait. I really hope she’s able to face her past self with confidence in the final ep, and come to terms that she was indeed always beautiful to begin with.
YESSSSSSSS, Definitely my top fave in this episode. It’s so raw and beautiful. When he said he missed her face, Mirae laid everything out, her heart, her courage, her insecurity, all of it. All because she loves him and wants to listen to his wish. And when Kyungsuk saw her face TT______TT he had such a longing look seeing her old face. He really loves her TT____TT I felt it. It was strong. I cannot.
Seriously, Soo Ah, had you been in this room and witnessed Kyungsuk’s facial expression as he saw her old face again for 3 seconds, you’d def take whatever trash you told Mirae to purposely hurt her.
Her last attempt to hurt MR felt so desperate….the comment of how she prefers natural scent over artificial one. I was so proud that MR just looked at the concerned KS and shrugged it off with a smile. So proud of uri girl!
She is very desperate. Everything starts to crumble before her, and now it feels like she’s back to where she was before, dirt. And I am indifferent about it as she did the exact same thing to elevate herself from other girls.
That perfume comment was really low. Good thing she said it at a point in Mirae’s life where her confidence has risen up and unlikely to be shaken
It was a split sec, but you definitely see KS’s eyes softening when he saw her old face in the pic after a long time – he wasn’t kidding when he says he missed it from time to time.
He really does <333 It was all he saw in his middle school – her face, her physique. He didn't care about anything else, but somehow, whenever she was there walking around school, his eyes would drift towards her.

It’s so beautiful. Mirae and Kyungsuk’s first kiss, so raw and intimate, and it happened just right after Mirae bared it all to him – it’s not a wonder he was so in love and kissed her right there. It was the perfect moment. He wanted to make her feel more loved and adored. And there’s Mirae accepting his love TT_____TT I am so lost for words.

The funny thing was that when I can’t hold myself anymore, I started to blurt out how proud noona I am with all the giggles and such. 😂 Wow! Just caught up with Life, and I surprisingly enjoyed it, right till the very end. Nothing exciting ever really happened, but it did leave me with an overall feeling of, meh, well that\’s just life.
It’s nothing mind blowing, but it’s true to life in a way that reminded me that these characters are only human. They are realistictally flawed, but we left them with a precious lesson for the rest of their life. And I’m happy with that.
A question for all you GIF makers/lovers out there: what would make a good Kdrama GIF to help break the ice at the start of a training session aimed at working professionals in the field of education?
I feel like this is a riddle. There are too many stipulations my brain hurts. 🤣 But how about the college scene where Dae Young and Ji-woo are studying at the library and she falls asleep and he catches her head? That seems cute and education related and you can say something about the training hopefully not being so boring that they fall asleep, but if they do, hopefully their neighbor will be nice/smooth enough to catch them. There’s also the ALSB one too. But that’s a c-drama.
I guess it only needed to be an icebreaker – my apologies for making your head hurt with all the additional (and unnecessary) stipulations, ha! And when he said he liked her scent….. TT________TT I honestly wish the perfume plot was more integrated in the drama. It shaped Mirae in the webtoon, and she doesn’t fuss over which perfume to use when she’s with Kyungsuk cuz it’s always this scent she’s reminded of him. He told her he hated perfume in general, hated that scent she wore, but as time passed, when somebody asked what type of girls he’s into – he said a girl who wears perfume!!!! I thought it was so sweet.
Either way, this was a lovely touch in reference to perfume.
I was half-expecting him to call her out for not giving him a candle yet! our boy is petty. he knows WY sunbae got one..

Honestly I won’t be surprised if he’s a changed man now, and doesn’t do petty stuff anymore. He’s finally got the girl and nothing could make him get jealous of. Well I can hope!
Ah is that how it went in the original webtoon! That is super sweet. I do prefer the subtle changes they’ve made in this drama version though. I guess their first and foremost reason to personalise the perfume was for PPLs sake lol, but luckily it works on multiple levels.
1. Fact that DKS first associated that particular scent with his mother, and therefore was something he rejected. I thought it a nice way to re-connect these (once lost) souls together again; I like that the scent remained with them through their bitter past all the way through to their present state where they’re now comfortable and at peace with one another. It ties back nicely to what the mother said during her lecture bout the scent always being a lingering presence through a person’s life journey.
2. The convo between WY and MR regarding how the scent changes to become its own unique scent when applied to a person’s skin is nicely linked too. I ❤️ that what lingers with DKS is not just any perfume, but MR’s own personal scent which changes according to the perfume she wears.
3. Just like how he identifies her through her scent, it makes sense for MR to want to choose a scent which she’d personally identifies with DKS. Although I was hoping the scent she gives to him would be one personally made by her – but either way, ha, the ppl totally works in the writers’ favour! Overall, I am loving how they’ve incorporated scent as a factor which ties all these different characters together. Thoughtfully done!
Honestly I barely noticed the perfume’s presence in the drama (ironically!!!), but now that you’ve listed all this, it did incorporate the scent (be it perfume or the candle) in its own way. So thank you!
I was hoping Mirae also make a scented candle for Kyungsuk, but I guess gifting him a scent he can wear when he is with her works better, as both their scents will complement each other too!
I seriously love LSH’s change in expression during the backhug scene – you can trail the exact moment she simply eases into his embrace. It was a nice contrast to all the times she was left feeling anxious lest someone discovers them. Beautifully done! ❤️
They’re so sweet and so innocent. I`m not even upset that I haven’t seen a kiss. Like, I`m just proud of these little changes in their relationship – holding hands, now backhug. They look so in love and happy.
It’s just that they both understand each other so well and care for each other so much, nothing else matters. Even after she confessed, he sat next to her leaving ample distance between them. They were just happy knowing they both like each other.
I like that KS is being assertive in making some moves – never letting go of her hand, hugging her.. She is not going to make any initiative in this, so am glad our boy knows what they both want!
Yessss soo agree that he maintains personal space. That scene before they got caught by his mom, I thought he moved to get closer to her. But nope, he moved to touch her arm and assure he’s not mad. like…….

I love that at each momentous occasion that KS and MR grow closer together, we visibly see DKS let out a contented sigh. It’s such a lovely directed touch! Like the fireworks scene, when she declares her feelings for him, when they first held hands, when he’s able to keep a firm hold of her hand this ep, and of course during the backhug scene. It’s ever so subtle, but you definitely see how at ease DKS is during these key moments. ❤️
I love it!!! All these little things!!! I just re-watched them now. They’re so beautiful – he’s suffocating with happiness, he needed those deep breaths.

Not exactly samosa but very similar. Samosas are Indian whereas curry puffs are…actually I have no idea what’s the exact origin. It’s probably Southeast Asian. Since it’s quite a melting pot here, we can get enjoy food from different cultures.
I’ve yet to try pierogis from an authentic eatery, but the recipe was super fun and easy to follow, and the end result, delicious! Made a large batch for the freezer – happy days!

Very glad that Soo Ah didn’t become suddenly friends with them again – it would just feel forced and unrealistic. Them moving on with no hard feelings is really a perfect way to wrap up.

Putting the two adorable puppies aside, I actually felt pretty bad for Soo-ah this ep. I kinda wish they would have taken a more gradual approach with her story, rather than hitting us with it right at the very end. We would have spared her some of that intense hatred had they taken the former approach! But also, we’d have gotten the chance to sympathise with her a tad bit more.

This is why in the webtoon, sad and tragic her story is, I could not sympathize with her. The webtoon is still not translated to end, so we are still on Soo Ah’s arc, but we’ve seen snippets of her past (pretty much what the drama portrayed tonight), but I just can’t. I think about the things she did and said to Mirae, I simply can’t. Kyungsuk and I are the same, we side eye Mirae for being too nice to her. She too is a victim of “beauty” trapped in the eyes of society that’s judging cruely, but how she copes up with it was just something I cannot overlook.
And What?! You hated Mirae because her plastic surgery came out good and that makes you not so rare anymore? Pity, her mindset is really a f. up.

I love the gentleness of the kiss, but what really got me is how emotional it is leading up to it. The final step, an important and a big one: Mi-rae is able to let the man she loves to re-visit her old face, the source of her long suffering and her deep insecurity. She is able to do so because the man she loves sincerely misses it. He sees her as the woman she is, grown from the girl she was.
Just pure love. It has been a long while that I feel this satisfied about a first kiss.

I’ve said it before, but damn I seriously love LSH’s acting!! She displays Mi-rae’s insecurities in every fleeting expression. You’re right, the lead up to the kiss was incredibly emotional. Full of warmth, but also heartbreaking at the same time, knowing how fearful she was of being rejected due to her former portrait. I really hope she’s able to face her past self with confidence in the final ep, and come to terms that she was indeed always beautiful to begin with.

YESSSSSSSS, Definitely my top fave in this episode. It’s so raw and beautiful. When he said he missed her face, Mirae laid everything out, her heart, her courage, her insecurity, all of it. All because she loves him and wants to listen to his wish. And when Kyungsuk saw her face TT______TT he had such a longing look seeing her old face. He really loves her TT____TT I felt it. It was strong. I cannot.
Seriously, Soo Ah, had you been in this room and witnessed Kyungsuk’s facial expression as he saw her old face again for 3 seconds, you’d def take whatever trash you told Mirae to purposely hurt her.

She is very desperate. Everything starts to crumble before her, and now it feels like she’s back to where she was before, dirt. And I am indifferent about it as she did the exact same thing to elevate herself from other girls.
That perfume comment was really low. Good thing she said it at a point in Mirae’s life where her confidence has risen up and unlikely to be shaken

It’s so beautiful. Mirae and Kyungsuk’s first kiss, so raw and intimate, and it happened just right after Mirae bared it all to him – it’s not a wonder he was so in love and kissed her right there. It was the perfect moment. He wanted to make her feel more loved and adored. And there’s Mirae accepting his love TT_____TT I am so lost for words.

I feel like this is a riddle. There are too many stipulations my brain hurts. 🤣 But how about the college scene where Dae Young and Ji-woo are studying at the library and she falls asleep and he catches her head? That seems cute and education related and you can say something about the training hopefully not being so boring that they fall asleep, but if they do, hopefully their neighbor will be nice/smooth enough to catch them. There’s also the ALSB one too. But that’s a c-drama.

And when he said he liked her scent….. TT________TT I honestly wish the perfume plot was more integrated in the drama. It shaped Mirae in the webtoon, and she doesn’t fuss over which perfume to use when she’s with Kyungsuk cuz it’s always this scent she’s reminded of him. He told her he hated perfume in general, hated that scent she wore, but as time passed, when somebody asked what type of girls he’s into – he said a girl who wears perfume!!!! I thought it was so sweet.
Either way, this was a lovely touch in reference to perfume.

Ah is that how it went in the original webtoon! That is super sweet. I do prefer the subtle changes they’ve made in this drama version though. I guess their first and foremost reason to personalise the perfume was for PPLs sake lol, but luckily it works on multiple levels.
1. Fact that DKS first associated that particular scent with his mother, and therefore was something he rejected. I thought it a nice way to re-connect these (once lost) souls together again; I like that the scent remained with them through their bitter past all the way through to their present state where they’re now comfortable and at peace with one another. It ties back nicely to what the mother said during her lecture bout the scent always being a lingering presence through a person’s life journey.
2. The convo between WY and MR regarding how the scent changes to become its own unique scent when applied to a person’s skin is nicely linked too. I ❤️ that what lingers with DKS is not just any perfume, but MR’s own personal scent which changes according to the perfume she wears.
3. Just like how he identifies her through her scent, it makes sense for MR to want to choose a scent which she’d personally identifies with DKS. Although I was hoping the scent she gives to him would be one personally made by her – but either way, ha, the ppl totally works in the writers’ favour! Overall, I am loving how they’ve incorporated scent as a factor which ties all these different characters together. Thoughtfully done!

Honestly I barely noticed the perfume’s presence in the drama (ironically!!!), but now that you’ve listed all this, it did incorporate the scent (be it perfume or the candle) in its own way. So thank you!
I was hoping Mirae also make a scented candle for Kyungsuk, but I guess gifting him a scent he can wear when he is with her works better, as both their scents will complement each other too!

I seriously love LSH’s change in expression during the backhug scene – you can trail the exact moment she simply eases into his embrace. It was a nice contrast to all the times she was left feeling anxious lest someone discovers them. Beautifully done! ❤️

It’s just that they both understand each other so well and care for each other so much, nothing else matters. Even after she confessed, he sat next to her leaving ample distance between them. They were just happy knowing they both like each other.
I like that KS is being assertive in making some moves – never letting go of her hand, hugging her.. She is not going to make any initiative in this, so am glad our boy knows what they both want!

I love that at each momentous occasion that KS and MR grow closer together, we visibly see DKS let out a contented sigh. It’s such a lovely directed touch! Like the fireworks scene, when she declares her feelings for him, when they first held hands, when he’s able to keep a firm hold of her hand this ep, and of course during the backhug scene. It’s ever so subtle, but you definitely see how at ease DKS is during these key moments. ❤️

Not exactly samosa but very similar. Samosas are Indian whereas curry puffs are…actually I have no idea what’s the exact origin. It’s probably Southeast Asian. Since it’s quite a melting pot here, we can get enjoy food from different cultures.
