Beanie level: Water maid

There’s some air of deja vu here…Jun Ki must have been reminded of his past life there…a time where he sported long hair and got stuck in a fence🤣

Jun-ki should totally put his foot on KJH’s forehead to help him in a indirect drama karma/revenge sort of way!!

    10
    1

haha Dong Gu quite deserves the punishment for being so petty! But I must admit, I love his grumpy nature♥

Thinking about it, Jun Ki should totally ask Philip (aka smelly feet) to put his rotten foot on DG’s forehead. That would be true revenge!🤢🤣

Yoon Ah’s agyeo confession was lovely to watch and I was really happy to see it back after episode 8. Look at Dong Gu’s relieved face after hearing her confession. His feelings are finally being reciprocated!🎉 *wishthemtolivehappilyeverafterandtogivealittlebroorsistoSol*😁

Just returning from a hard week at work and first thing I’m reading…Waikiki hasn’t ended yet that Kim Jung Hyun is already courted for another drama. Striking the iron while it’s hot. That’s the spirit! Though I’m not really familiar with Jeon Sun Min and it’s a melodrama (still I’m glad he’s tackling different genres, proving his versatility)
The negative points is that it’s a MBC drama (95% of their dramas suffer from low ratings) and scheduled to air in July…summer is not the best season for melodramas.
I’ve also been rolling my eyes at some comments complaining about the 4 years age gap (KJH:90/JSM:86). Are they for real? What’s with this close-minded mindset?!? Hope they will never watch ‘Witch Romance’ (19 years apart) or they might have a meltdown./rant over
Lastly, there’s something I’m dying to know. Just started to stan him (Kim Jung Hyun) and I’m really curious about this…please, tell me he’s already completed his army duty… Tell the truth to this Noona, she doesn’t want to have her heart smashed into pieces later on.

Yup he has! He went in when he was 21 (Korean age).

Are they making a mountain out of a molehill? You’d think it’s 40 years instead of 4.

    4
    1

I know, probably a bunch of kids or jealous fangirls (Oppa can’t date or even act alongside an ahjumma). I know many people in rl that has this kind of age gap and even larger than that (my aunt is 8 years older than her husband)

      2
      1

Why do fangirls care about who Oppa is dating?

I can’t even control my sons! I just pray they find good life companions.

        2
        1

Who knows? Maybe because they think they may have a chance with them…*kidding*😂

I feel the same way…what matters to me is for them to find a loving and supportive partner. As long as they’re good to them, it would be more than enough to make me happy (though I don’t have children yet😁)

    4 years? Who cares??

That’s so weird. He’s 28, not 18! Why are people getting their panties in a bunch?

yep, he already did his service and now all that’s left is the flower road to stardom. I love him, so, so, much, ever since School 2017 and in Waikiki, he’s just killing me. Haha.
By the way, I ADORED Witch’s Romance, and I had been rewatching my favourite scenes few times already. Haha.
    Drama, please be good..!

Loved Witch’s Romance as well! As for me, Uhm Jung Hwa is Park Seo Joon’s best partner to date. They had sizzling chemistry and their making-out session in first episode has gone down as one of my fav scenes in Kdrama history♥

    Four things:
    1. I did smile and giggle at least twice.
    2. He was just plain awesome in this, even it I didn’t understand what he was saying.
    3. His haircut looks great on him! K-Dramaland needs to move away from the bangs, middle parts, and bowl haircuts. Having said that, he can pull of most of the hairstyles I’ve seen on him. Even the wigs.
    4. He really is a good looking guy.

    4
    1

      Glad you liked it!😊
I agree that this boyish/teenager hairstyle trend needs to stop. Show your glorious foreheads to the world! (manlier and sexier). But don’t think we’ll be getting rid of it any time soon…I heard it’s mainly a thing in Korea, to look/appear more youthful. And yes, Hyungsik can almost pull off any hairstyles (“almost” because they were some questionable hairstyles for his debut with ZE:A😂)
All in all, he’s simply gorgeous😍

I only saw him in Hwarang, but that drama was so bad it even tested my love for Park Seo Joon.

Nevertheless, he’s mightily beautiful guy. He’s a definition of flower boy.

    1
    1

I also watched Hwarang and it has more to do with the writing being bad (written by a rookie and it greatly showed) than the actors’ performances. Cast was great (minus Go Ara) and the only saving grace of an otherwise uninspiring and forgettable show (even Choi Minho was decent and believe me, I rarely sing his praises). The boring and chemistry-less romance between the leads made me also doubt of my love for Park Seo Joon. TBH, the only thing that made me stick till the end was Hyungsik (despite the butchering of his character in second half)

      2
      1

It’s only until you realize that dramas like Live, Stranger, Mother and My Ajusshi exist that you realize that many actors can act well, however, if they don’t have the writing and direction to back them up, then it sometimes comes off as they can’t act. Don’t get me wrong though, there are some actors who are really bad who can kill decent writing and direction.

I stuck through Hwarang for both Park Seo-joon and Park Hyung-sik. I don’t think I can stick through a drama just because of an actor any more. Life’s too short for bad dramas.

        3
        3

I agree, writing comes before acting. The bad writing can kill a talented actor while the good writing can elevate even limited actors.

I used to be the same, following my favourite actor no matter what, sticking with their bad dramas till the end, but I can’t do it anymore either. Nowadays if drama is bad (even with my bias), I just drop it.

Same. Now that I’m older, I’m more picky. I also drop/skip dramas starring my favs if the writer or partner is not to my liking (most recent examples➡️ Hwayugi= Hong Sis=no thanks/ WYWS=Lee Jong Suk💖+ Suzy❌= didn’t even start/Will skip Mr Sunshine because I don’t like the male lead+I’ve never finished a Kim Eun Sook’s drama *yeah, even Goblin and I love Gong Yoo!* Second lead, YYS would have made for a better lead imo and don’t get me started on Byun Yo Han being the 3rd lead *sigh*)

You’re both right , there’s no time to waste on bad dramas or at least the ones which are not to our taste.

@hades BTW, are ‘My Ajusshi’ and ‘Live’ good? I watched ‘Mother’ and I utterly loved it (stellar acting and it was such a heart-wrenching and beautiful story)

          1
          5

Surprisingly I don’t mind Suzy that much, she didn’t stop me from watching LSJ pretty face haha 😆 Overall WYWS was mediocre drama though the first episode was really good.

I wanted to watch Great Seducer for Woo Do Hwan but I’m probably too old for teenage romance, I just couldn’t get past that. Too bad, I’ll have to wait to see him in a more mature role.

Now I’m pumped up for Suits, Pretty Noona and Are You Human too.

And My Ahjussi is really good if you like realistic dramas. It’s heavy and bleak but so good I can’t stop watching. I started because of Lee Sun Kyun but surprisingly it’s IU eho steals the show, she’s fantastic in this. Her heroine is unlike anybody I’ve seen in my 11 years of watching dramas.

            1
            0

I like Live. Possible spoilers ahead. If you don’t like spoilers, you should dive right into the first episode and see if you like it or not. It can seem a bit heavy and slow–it is long–but I think it most definitely is worth it.

The first thing that hooked me in was the amazing use of ambient sound. Combine the sound with the realistically styled cinematography and they had me in the first 3 mins. I felt completely immersed in the world. As the episode progressed, we got to see just how much Hell Joseon has beat down on our two main leads to push them into joining the police force. I honestly find this the most convincing illustration for just how bad Hell Joseon can be and I got it in just two episodes. Eat your heart out Radiant Office and Strongest Deliveryman! Although admittedly those two dramas were looking at somewhat different aspects of Hell Joseon.

The we have My Ajusshi. I love this drama more than I love Live mainly because we have characters who are driving a story in which each other’s actions (can/have) significantly impact(ed) the others. The tone is dark but not too dark. Most of the characters are flawed or amoral–that’s judging from my standards. Their storylines have you interested in how everything is going to play out. All of the actors are doing an amazing job with their characters and they are making full use of the writing and direction. The same can be said for Live. The both really are examples of how good actors can be if given the right tools. In that way it reminds me of Stranger.

Lastly, I have only watched the first two episodes of Mother but I loved how unfiltered it was in its depiction of abuse. It’s that unfiltered presentation of the material that I like about Live and My Ajusshi.

@cherryinbloom I’m currently watching ‘The Great Seducer’ and I must say I’m more enamored with Woo Do Hwan’s handsome face and intense acting than the drama in itself (forgive my shallowness😁)…therefore, if you don’t feel like watching it, don’t force yourself, I don’t think you’ll miss out much (just my opinion…still I will keep watching it to see where it goes *for curiosity purpose*)

As for Suzy, I just can’t. And I tried! ‘Big’, ‘Gu Family Book’ and ‘Uncontrollably Fond’. She’s just terrible imo. I sadly had to skip another Lee Jong Suk drama (it already happened in the past with Doctor Stranger *coughJinSeYeoncough*). I’m so relieved that for his next work he will be paired with someone like Shin Hye Sun. She’s good and more on par with him acting-wise.

On the other hand, I like IU, she’s a decent actress and saw her for the first time in ‘You’re the best Lee Soon Shin!’. She was still quite green at that time but I could already see some potential.

@hades @cherryinbloom Thanks for the recommendation! I think I’ll follow your advice and start ‘My Ajusshi’ (the only thing that bothers me is the length of the episodes..90min?!? Tell me, they will shorten it! I managed to watch and finished ‘Prison Playbook’ and loved it but still it was hard for me to stay focused this long…

            0
            0

Episode 2 of My Ajusshi is 01:12:25. I can’t say if this speaks for the episodes to come but I remember @mindy saying that the subsequent episodes after the first will be shorter.

No, thank you. It just sounds like another TOL in the making. Plot is meh and I’m not too keen on this pairing (PSH’s fanbase scares me a bit tbh and I’m not the biggest fan of her acting + if the drama is a flop or not doing well, I’m afraid some of her fans will put the blame on him)
The only positive thing about this drama is that it’s from the same writer of What happened to my family? and Romantic Doctor. That’s about it.
It would be a smart move to just skip this one Se Jong ahhh. Pick a better project, something different, more challenging and on cable if possible.

I really like Yang Se Jong, or the new/rising actors he is my favorite so far. I like him a lot more than say “Jung Hae In”, who I find very average but with potential. I am neutral to PSH, and think that she is average acting-wise but not bad, so I’m fine with the casting. However everything in this drama will depend on execution.

I just hope that this one will be more interesting and will not drag like “Temperature of Love”, where the saving grace of the drama was the chemistry between the leads. I also hope that this drama is 16 eps long, because a premise like this, similar to TOL, is not enough to fill a longer ep drama. Basically if he accepts, I will definitely check this out, and hope that they don’t fall into the same pitfalls as TOL. But I wish he had been offered the drama from the writer of “W”, I feel he would be a better fit for her writing than someone like Hyun Bin who yells a lot. Anyways…

so i was analyzing this.. PSH has brought super stardom to almost all her leading men.. she is a lucky charm ..

if you want success just work with her..

don’t know about her acting ..watched heirs only 🙂 and well i liked her better than Lee min ho !

Shoot, I posted to quickly. I was supposed to type the English translation “really/seriously” after.

This both sucks and is good at the same time. It sucks that I finally watched 5 episodes over the weekend to catch up and I’m getting back into the swing of this show. Actually, I think it’s more like the show is getting better each week. We’re getting more to the heart of the show instead of relying on (subjectively) off-putting humour.

It’s good because Great Seducer premiers tomorrow and I already have Evergreen on tap for my M/T lineup.

      4
      1

Yeah unfortunately. Probably to give them more time to film and change things due to the extension…just hope it will remain as good as it is right now.
Only have Waikiki on M/T but I also plan to watch ‘Great Seducer’ mainly for Woo Do Hwan. Hope it will be good.
