Will a kdrama go that route? Specially with an actor at the helm who is not in the best of books with the Korean public right now. I already saw some negative comments

Yeah… It’s mainly some knetz who said it but the comment section of this article is full of support from international fans. I hate allkpop articles but at least the ppl reading the article have done well
