      @wishfultoki,

      JUMONG was totally cracktastic. A fantastic Korean horse opera. Song Il-kook shooting arrows from the back of a galloping horse is stupendous. They surely don’t make sageuks like that nowadays. I’m appreciating KINGDOM OF THE WINDS much more this second time around after watching JUMONG. 😉

    Lovely. Thanks@pakalanapikake. Any idea who the composer is. I made a cursory search and came up empty. It would be interesting to know if there are other dramas he/she has composed music for.

      @marcusnyc20 bong-soo,

      Lee Pil Ho is the composer of KINGDOM OF THE WINDS’s exquisite instrumental score. His name rang a bell with me, but I couldn’t place it. Thanks for asking — because it prompted me to look him up in my Kdrama log. Eureka! He also composed the beautiful instrumental music for BREAD, LOVE AND DREAMS aka KING OF BAKING, KIM TAK GOO. The drama starred uri Yoon Si-yoon facing off against the equally talented musical actor Joo Won. (I still haven’t gotten around to seeing GAKSITAL / BRIDAL MASK, the Japanese occupation-era sageuk that is reputed to be Joo Won’s best role & performance to date.) YSY, JW, and lead actress Lee Young-ah all sing OSTs for the show.

      Aside: As wonderful as KINGDOM OF THE WINDS’s music is, you should hear JUMONG’s magnificent score, which is even more epic. Seriously. I’ll have to start looking for it and post it on my fan wall. 😉

      If you haven’t seen KIM TAK GOO yet, you have something to look forward to. It was YSY’s second show, following HIGH KICK 2 THROUGH THE ROOF, and was immensely popular (something like 50% audience share). I found some of the OSTs for KIM TAK GOO when I watched it towards the end of THE BEST HIT’s run in July, 2017, and will post them on my fan wall. I may not have done so when I watched it.

      You can still watch BREAD, LOVE AND DREAMS with English subtitles on KBS World TV on YouTube, starting with episode 1 here:

      Now that I’ve watched JUMONG, I nearly fell out of my chair when I discovered that Kim Tak Goo’s dad reincarnated from Hae Mo-su’s brother-in-arms, Teja/King Geum Wa of Buyeo. Jun Kwang-ryul was terrific in the role, and ultimately had a tragic character arc. In some ways, KTG’s family is just as dysfunctional as the royal family of Buyeo, but with fewer cavalry battles. 😉
