I just finished the C-drama Rookie Agent Rouge, which I really almost dropped towards the middle for a lot of reasons, which I barely even remember now because the finale has just left me an emotional wreck. I won’t even complain that there was no real kiss ever and not a lot of skinship, because damn their love felt way deeper than like 99% of other drama couples. Ugh I just remembered all the pictures he drew of her and I’m crying again.
I think it has been a conscious choice for Zanila Zhao (the main actress) to not have any kiss scenes in any of her works up until now— her currently airing drama “Our Glamorous Time” is the first drama I’ve heard reports of her having kiss scenes
I don’t think so, I just started watching Boss and Me now, and she has a kiss in the intro song of that lol. I felt it fit with Rookie Agent Rouge though to not have any kisses because it was wartime after all, no time to be fooling around. And again there connection was just so deep that it really wasn’t necessary. Also there technically was a kiss, but it was way early on and was forced to get the female lead to slip up and reveal her identity, hence I don’t really count it.
My two complaints that still stick with me are 1. Why are there soooooo many god damn shoot outs in my SPY drama, like seriously they are the worst spies ever, they always get caught and have to just gun everyone down to get away 2. The costuming!! It sucked. Like not a single one of the FL lead’s outfits was period, not A SINGLE ONE!! I am very passionate about vintage fashion especially first half of the 20th century. Sure she looked super cute and stylish (except for that porno soldier outfit she wears during the spy training part *cringe*), but she still could’ve looked super cute and stylish in proper period outfits. Everyone else dressed in pretty accurate clothes, so it seems a delibrate choice and I HATED IT. So many gogo boots and other fashion boots, those didn’t exist until the 60’s.
So I guess Zheng Shuang is the Park Shin Hye of China when it comes to kissing. I’m watching Love Through a Millenium and despite playing a much more confident/experienced character than in LoveO2O she’s still awkward as hell even when initiating the kiss. The korean original had such good kisses too!
Finished LoveO2O. I have to give the writers props for sticking to a no-drama drama until the end never raising the stakes or having any conflict. My soul feels cleansed by all the pure fluffyness and I don’t like it. Must watch something dark now.
Pets in dramas being mistreated really makes me upset. Watching Love O2O and this poor kitty is so terrified of the actors/filming that it’s always panting. Reminds me of the poor dogs in WFKBJ.
Ok. That cat. I am a person who is scared of cats–I always have been. There’s a scene when whats-her-name goes to catsit and she turns the twirly chair around and the cat is panting and doing this thing with its tongue and I legit screamed.out.loud. I showed it to my coworker the next day because she didn’t believe me when I said it was terrifying (she has like 5 cats and doesnt think anything they do is scary) and she said “For the love of GOD turn that OFF what TF did they do to that poor animal?”
Lol, I love cats, been around them my entire life, I (proudly) own 9 myself. I dedicate a huge part of my free time to rescuing and fostering kittens/cats and TNRing feral cats. And I have never seen a cat pant that wasn’t extremely ill or extremely terrified. Most ferals don’t even do that when handled (yes I handle feral cats lol, I have NO fear of cats at all). So I can’t even imagine what the hell they did to get that poor little thing to have it panting in every single scene. It’s a showbred cat too, so it should be used to being handled. I also feel like the thing where the cat hid under the pillow wasn’t what they wanted it to do, but that’s what it did, so they just went with it. Why not just get a different cat though like??? There are plenty of laidback friendly cats that can handle drama shoots.

I may just end up making a list of “favorites”. Is something a favorite of mine or is it not? That’s easy. Much easier than deciding “Is this show a 6 or a 7?” hahaha. Numbers are meaningless! 😛
I actually had a lot of fun rating mine. But I did it all at once yesterday lol, so it’s probably biased because of that. A lot of the old t-dramas I watched when I was first getting into dramas I just kind of assumed they were pretty bad even though I didn’t really remember them at all lol. I did try to put some thought into them, but my ratings are more about personal enjoyment than any attempt at a serious critical review. I feel like I learned a bit more about my own tastes by doing the list actually, so it was worth doing.

Saikou no rikon, Date [ LOVED both of these], A restaurant with many problems [awesome drama with a gang of girls, All about my siblings, Boku unmei no hito desu, We married as a job. I loved the first four the most, but saikou, date, and boku unmei are more romance oriented, rest are a bit general? If you are into mystery genre, let me know.
Oh kazoku game is great too! I have seen nothing like this in my life lol.
On the romance genre, want to add ‘rich man, poor woman’. I got my new crush Shun Oguri while watching this one lol.
Also for any of the romances, do any of them have a decent amount of skinship/kissing/ect.? I hate it when so many j-romances I’ve seen wait until the last ep. for the characters to date and gives them like one super chaste kiss lol.
Actually jdramas don’t have much of skinships. Like their idea of romance is still very much vocal and less anything physical, so you will be disappointed if you want something like KDramas. There are these new dramas which you could check out for more romances since they are mostly based on romance theme I think :

If you want to see romance, I think Japanese movies have covered quite a lot of it, there are lot of live action movies which don’t disappoint. One of the recent one that I loved has to be ‘Orange’.
In case of action, Nobunaga Concerto was great, a bit of a time travel drama, but it was a mad ride, though the ending was a bit sad. Also the ones I have watched:
Hard nut (one genius scientist girl and a police officer works tofethr to solve cases, loved their camaraderie. The girl’s crush on the officer was so cute!)
Border, ( shun oguri) a bit dark but it’s a critically acclaimed one I heard. Though I haven’t finished it yet so can’t tell how it went.
Dong Ha did an amazing job portraying Jung Hyung-soo and I hope to see him in a more prominent preferably non-villainous role next time, so I don\’t have to feel bad about stanning his character.
At least Jiwook’s hair is back to being ridiculously sexy! The hairstyle he had as a lawyer was cute, but this hairstyle just screams… sex. I want to have sex with his hair. That’s weird, I’m sorry.
Lol. If I was Bong-hee I’d be all “baby, I can’t wait, don’t take a shower” so he wouldn’t ruin his hair, if you know what I mean~ (I guess someone didn’t like my racy humor though, but this is a show with implied sex scenes and naked cuddling, so lol)

@fatcat007 – Yeah, because of his scandals, he’s really disliked here. People were really angry about him getting cast in Kim Eun-sook’s new drama Mr. Sunshine. I got downvotes for basically correcting people who seemed to think his career was over and KES was out of her mind for casting a scandal-ridden actor, by pointing out that his latest movies have been huge box office hits in Korea and that his career really hasn’t taken a big hit. Others got downvotes for simply saying they liked LBH or didn’t care about his personal life. It was really ridiculous.

Both lol! It’s actually really good (Javabeans and girlfriday both rated it an A if you trust their opinion), but Kim Bum is a nice bonus. As long as you’re cool with noona dramas I’d highly recommend it.
Oh yeah, the angst doesn’t last that long really and is pretty tolerable. It’s definitely feel good with a nice swoony romance, but also focuses a lot on the side characters and the friendship between three 30’s somethings career women.

Both lol! It’s actually really good (Javabeans and girlfriday both rated it an A if you trust their opinion), but Kim Bum is a nice bonus. As long as you’re cool with noona dramas I’d highly recommend it.

Oh yeah, the angst doesn’t last that long really and is pretty tolerable. It’s definitely feel good with a nice swoony romance, but also focuses a lot on the side characters and the friendship between three 30’s somethings career women.
