Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

2 eps in and it’s hard to unsee the similarity between ROYAL SECRET INSPECTOR & JOY and ROYAL SECRET AGENT. The new RSI isn’t half as fun as the previous one. Not sure if I should stick to this show ~

Han Hyo Joo in Happiness reminds me of her in ‘Love 911’. Both are brazen type who have a thing for first responders 😀

I really like the first 2 ep of Happiness. However, its post-covid reference makes things a bit unsettling to me. I keep thinking oh no, what if life really imitates art, what would I do??????

Don’t let the anti-vaxxers watch it, they’ll take that ‘what if’ as fact 😂

I’m digging the OST of Inspector Koo! Such a unique and refreshing choice of music in KDramaland. They remind me of American thriller/crime series in the 1990s-2000s.

Inspector Goo is so fun, especially the editing. I\’m not particularly invested in the serial killer stuffs, but will stick to the show just for quirky investigation team.

OK the politics, the fantasy, and the royals are an absolute mess in Lovers, I couldn’t care less about the logic or whatever happens to them. But I’m super happy with the ending of the 2 leads. They have amazing chemistry and swoon-worthy moments in the finale. And can we talk about how gorgeous AHS and KYJ are in hanbok, with and without the color contact lenses???

I was dazzled by their beauty and happiness in the final episode.

I don\’t think the scandal changes my love for his old shows, they brought me much joy and entertainment and will continue to be remembered as such. But I definitely won\’t support his future projects. It\’s just my personal preference to not support horrible human beings that cross this threshold: they hurt others. It\’s one thing to be flawed and have personal issues, it\’s a totally different thing to be abusive and violent to others. Showbiz is always a mess, but we as the audience still have to the power to choose who deserves our time and support.

    no you are right..

no second chances here.. it isn’t even about making mistakes.. he made his choices in people handling, audience makes its own

but quite a terrible blow .. had it been only about abortion..but this whole badmouthing, manipulation.. for a rising star without big backing, difficult to come back 🙂

Urgh I made up my mind, the last 4 eps of Red Sky were a train wreck. How could they mess it up so badly when they have such a strong cast and totally epic premise?!!! The leads have become pushovers and none of the moves of the characters make any sense. Everyone just shows up, speaks their piece, and leaves. I was surprised and not surprised when I felt nothing for any death in ep 14, the show has lost me since ep 10. I feel like at this point, the writer and the director have given up the characters, they just want to shove in as many plot points as possible to wrap up the story ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The most memorable thing of ep 14 is Kim Yoo Jung’s acting, and it’s disheartening to see her keep bringing her A game to subpar productions.

So bad….I am just watching still due to the OTP chemistry

KYJ really need to pick a better project since she is talented. Her last 2 projects were also meh

Yeah, it stopped making sense some episodes ago for me too. I think the writers themselves got lost in the lore they’ve created, and started adding stuff just to raise the stakes and drama, and forgot about logic in the process, lol. Acting is super good, and the fatasy premise started off nicely, but it ended up in such a mess. Two more eps and we get the bean, so I guess that’s good.

I\’ve had a blast with One the Woman. It\’s so trope-laden and totally an over the top modern adaptation of Prince and Pauper. But Lee Honey single-handedly carries the show, and she kills it!

    She is fabulous!

Oh, I was just going to ask if anyone was watching this to see if I should start watching. It’s getting killer ratings. A prince and the pauper story sounds fun!

I watched the first 6 episodes and love it! It’s hilarious. Also, it reminds me a bit of Graceful Family (and that’s a good thing).

To fill in the void of Red Sky last week, I’ve been binge watching Romantic Dr. Kim 1&2 back to back and found renewed love for the series. When I watched them live, I was super annoyed with the young doctors of both seasons and thought they were hopeless and totally train wrecks, but for some reason I managed to pull through and finished both seasons despite my exasperation.

Now, rewatching the seasons back to back is a wonderful experience because this time I can see the growth of not only the young doctors but also the elders of Doldam hospital, especially Kim Sabu. His experience with the oddball trio of Kang Dong Joo, Yoon Seo Jung, and Do In Beom in Season 1 definitely prepares him to be a better mentor for Seo Woo Jin and Cha Eun Jae in Season 2. His temperament improves significantly in Season 2. He learns when to soften his teaching and manages to show more nuances and empathy in his words. In general, imo the writing and directing are much better in Season 2, the plot transition is less choppy, camera work is of higher quality, and overacting is less of an eyesore. Another thing I like about Season 2 is that although the problems of WJ and EJ more or less resemble that of DJ and SJ, I found the WJ-EJ couple are more endearing, probably because they’re always willing to go out of their way to help each other and their relationship doesn’t involve any love triangle, while DJ-SJ are too caught up in their own problems to reach out to each other.

I’m excited that SBS has started discussions regarding production of Season 3 with Han Suk Kyu and Ahn Hyo Seop, my favorite duo from Season 2. I really hope that we can also have the return of Yang Se Jong and Lee Sung Kyung, that would be perfect! Also, no comical villain(s) for Season 3 please. Building the new trauma center with government funding indeed would involve some serious politics, but I’d rather see more of our Doldam staff growing in terms of professional advancement and doctor-patient relationship. Winter 2022 please come quickly!

Here’s my favorite scene from Season 2.

I love Red Sky’s couple but hate the love triangle. I don’t know why we need another simp prince when the main couple and Ma Wang mystery have more than enough material to drive the story forward.
*SPOILER*
I appreciate that Ha Ram decided to tell Cheon Gi his feelings and his pain. It\’s time MLs in the Kdrama world know that there\’s nothing wrong with showing your vulnerable side to your loved one. Their interactions in ep 8 are my favorite, so soft and make my heart flutter.

5

I second this damn loud and clear.. Lead pair has more than enough back story, chemistry, connection, destiny between them (including Ma Wang) why would that third wheel is even their to ruin the whole impact.
I yearn to see Ha Ram and Cheon Gi together on screen just cause they just turn any simple scene exceptional being together and i hate when i had to FF past all second lead drama to get to it…..

Yumi\’s Cells is too cute! I ADORE the animation! I was literally squealing like a baby 🙈

Sun Woo is annoying. Lee Dam already says she has a boyfriend but he keeps pestering her, and then that scene when he literally begs for Dam\’s attention 😩

Episode 1 and we\’ve already had Men in Black x Hospital Playlist LMAO

I finally found time to watch Law School and wow, it doesn\’t disappoint. I love that nothing can stop everyone in Hankuk University from engaging in the educational mode XD

The Shows feature doesn\’t work for me. It only loads 2 top shows for me and there\’s no way to scroll down to see other shows below. Is anyone else having the same problem???

It’s so weird to see Jang Ki-young’s same face in Come and Hug Me, My Roommate is a Gumiho, and Sweet and Sour in the same week 😵

7
7

I really liked him in Come and Hug Me. I thought he had the exact range that the character required (others may have overacted but Na Moo was all about controlling and suppressing emotions) though I guess some think he underacted. How is Sweet and Sour?

    4
    2

I love him in CAHM and MRIAG but SAS is totally different animal lol. I just went wtf at the plot twist haha. All I can say is it’s very entertaining and realistic, I recommend it. JKY looks less dashing in SAS but still very swoony in suits.

Sweet and sour makes me wanna see him and Soo bin together in a proper drama… The plot twist is that we’re—>🤡 …😅

I have seen JKY in four dramas and one film. Exempting BEAUTIFUL MIND (2016) because I vaguely recall his performance, in (the order watched) COME AND HUG ME (2018), GO BACK COUPLE (2017) and KILL IT (2019) and the film THE BAD GUYS: REIGN OF CHAOS (2019) he played characters that were wrapped up pretty tight.
I liked his work in all of those dramas but I think I enjoyed his performance best in COME AND HUG ME.
Even though GUMIHO was not on my radar I may sneak a peek to catch a look at a different JKY.

and It is such an amazing face at that. He is really so beautiful.

Yeah agree. He’s one of the actors who just need to stand there and be beautiful, and we’d totally swoon over haha. But he can act and I appreciate that he’s trying different roles.

Lee Dam is goal! I\’m impressed with her determination to speak her mind and confront people for clarification. In most Asian culture, we are generally discouraged to do that, which perpetuates the habit of sweeping problems under the rug and ending up with heaps of misunderstanding. But if you can\’t change people\’s mind, the sooner you know what they really think, the earlier you can do something about it, or at least make peace with it and move on. I wish we could all have Dam’s courage.

13
9

oh yes.. she is. she absolutely is a GOAL.
i loved her how she can speak her heart loud n clear rather than murmuring to herself “he likes me – he likes me not” kind of.
she was fab in 4th episode.

    3
    0

She really is amazing. I liked how she tried to make it work but then when it become unbearable, she just confronted the problem head on. I really wish I had that kind of courage. I’m usually so scared of what others will think of me that I just don’t bother confronting others.

    3

Yup Lee Dam is the strong FL I’ve been waiting for. I was like, Kdrama writers this is how you write a strong FL without making her a bitch (IOTBNO) or a violent nuisance (BOF). Ep 4 just makes my heart explode with satisfaction ^0^

      2
      1

The ‘violent nuisance’ part is so true. Just because a girl has a backbone and can stand up for herself doesn’t mean she goes around kicking and yelling at people.

This character is written so well. Not a potted plant at all @leetennant.

Gumiho is just so fun to watch. I\’m glad K-dramas now move past the miscommunication tropes and give us leading couple who are over-the-top but know how to communicate and negotiate like adults.

15
3

I like that the FL in Gumiho is a carefree girl but still can hold her ground and make reasonable choices. She\’s funny but not stupid and definitely not a damsel in distress.
