I had so much crazy questions about my island.

Some people asked if we’re riding cows since they suppose that we don’t have cars. Or in middle school our German correspondents thought we didn’t have Nutella and gave everyone Nutella when they visited. I didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. I heard worse but can’t think of anything more.

It’s basically like in France but with a tropical weather. The food and traditions are influenced by India and Chinese to. We listen to all kind of music but Latin music and telenovelas are quite appreciated.
I had the same question but with giraffes… we don’t even have giraffes here LOL

Our island is called an “intense” island. There are beaches but there are more interesting things. People think I can swim and dive really but no. Just enough not to die. We have beautiful mountains, good hiking places and two volcanos (one of them is still active). And a park dedicated to extreme sport and sensation just opened this month.

The last few years there are less tourists because of sharks attacks (if you respect the rules, sharks won’t attack you) and other islands’ competition.
We have two airports one in the north in the capital and one in the south. You can fly directly from France but there’s no a lot of other European direct flight. I had to take an other flight in Paris to go to Berlin for example.
Seeing you mentioning Mauritius, you surely must have heard of it too 😀 We refer Mauritius as our “sister island”. My mother actually comes from there.

Only tourists and surfers don’t respect rules because they’re on an island so they have the right to go in the see even if it’s forbidden for their security. Glad you understand how it feels being so far away T_T

Surfing is not forbidden in itself. When there’s bad weather or when there are sharks the red flag is raised and people aren’t allowed to go into water. I have yet to meet someone from another place so far way. I first started watching Jdramas since I was interested in mangas, animes and Jrock/Visual kei. Then a classmate in high school was a kpop fan like me and introduced me to Kdramas.
Oh that’s a lot ! I have friends in Europe, Thailand and one just went to study in Australia last month.

Everyone had basically the same exposure to Kdramas and a connection to Asian culture ha.
I’m nowhere near your impressive collection but it’s still good.
