I have a present for School 2017 Beanies 🙈💝

PD Park Jinseok wrote a letter to all 30 students of Class 2-1. I decided to translate it because it speaks volumes about the kind of PD he is, which I believe is key to the warmth we feel from this drama.

It’s tempting to just skip to the main characters, but I hope that you will read what he said to the other actors too. Most of them only appear on screen for a few seconds over the whole drama, but each of them put in a lot of effort. To help put a face to each unfamiliar name, I’ve also translated Class 2-1’s attendance list.

    I didn’t even watch the drama, but oh my, this is so sweet! Very nice of him to have individually mentioned all the kids. 🙂

      It is, isn’t it? He really sees each of them, amidst the crazy shooting schedule and the terrible weather (hot and rainy, so a lot of shoots were delayed).

        It definitely says a lot about him as a person. I’m sure PD’s are often rushed off their feet, facing tight deadlines but even then, he noticed all of them and left thoughtful, appreciative notes for all for all of them! Not only is it immensely charming but so touching as well. It definitely gives me the impression that he’s a sweet, kind fellow!

    Even PD-nim felt 16 episodes to be a bit short for this school drama. He could wish he can give a bit more opportunity to the other cast members to shine, but time constraints won't allow it.

      Yes, I read his blogpost in which he was explaining why the rooftop scene between Eunho and Taewoon got cut although it was in the episode preview. And he mentioned that sometimes they get too much material and limited air time, so they have to cut out certain storylines. I get the feeling he’s especially sorry to Seo Jihoon because his love triangle and story with Issue got chopped out entirely.

        Oh, too bad. With this number of characters, I think this ought to be at least a 20-episode drama. Even the minor characters are written uniquely in a lovable way that we want more of them. How can I move on? 😥

    And I like that he saw the potential of characters and actors and was sad (like us!) that he didn’t get to do more with them!
    He gets my respect as PD for this, just so lovely in every way.
