I am somewhat disappointed in the new album. I don’t know if it was because I had a big expectation of my first real comeback, but I didn’t like it. The sound that makes EXO’s music was missing for me. The songs didn’t sound like what EXO would normally produce. I don’t know, something felt severely lacking.

Awww that’s too bad. For me, this is a solid af comeback, and I’m so glad I pre ordered the album <3 Each track is A+++
The only thing messed up are Yixing's lines in the Chinese version of Tempo 🙁

    That’s too bad!! 🙁

I personally loved it a lot, more than other albums, possibly!
EXO always tends to change things up, they never stay with the same style.
This time they tried something different again; I liked it because it can still showcase how beautiful the members’ voices are, that’s their strength, imo! 🙂

I hope that maybe a few more listen can make you change your opinion of it, I experienced something like this before! ^^

I hope I like it the more I listen to it because I’ve been listening to it a lot all day. I like when EXO does things that are different while still keeping their sound, I did start stanning because of Ko Ko Bop after all, and even though I became a solo stan a few months ago, I still really loved EXO’s music. I already bought the album, but I just wished I liked it enough. It sounds too much like other SM boy groups’ songs, I think that’s what I didn’t like.

I can see what you mean. I definitely heard a bit of NCT in some songs 🙂
They share a lot of their producers/writers, so it’s not that strange..
I liked The War less than this new album, but it definitely had a more distinctive sound, different than other groups, SM ones included.

Interesting… as someone who doesn’t really listen to or follow EXO that much, I actually liked this comeback a lot, and enjoyed the album more than most other comebacks from anyone this year.
But I’m not an avid EXO-L so I’m not really sure what that says. \^-^/
What is your favourite EXO album? I am curious 🙂

My favourite EXO album was the Lotto repackaged album. There were a lot of really good songs on it and my irreplaceable favourite, One and Only, is on that album. I just feel like they went too left with this album. A lot of the songs sound like something either NCT or SHINee would make. I have nothing against these groups though, but their music more often than not, doesn’t appeal to me. I really liked Ooh La La La though because I felt like I was listening to EXO then.

One and Only is my most listened to EXO song! I love it so much. It’s a never-ever-skip song for me. Hands down one of my favourite EXO songs ever. Also on that album: She’s dreaming, They Never Know and Lucky One. SUCH BOPS

I love She’s Dreaming so much as well. Tracks 8, 9, 10, are my most played songs on that album other than Lotto.

They Never Know was really out there pushing EXO’s limits tho, lyrics-wise. I’m always sad they’ve never performed it live, but I think it’s too risky. The fact that they even released is a miracle tbh

@vipsky4796 you’re the 2nd person I’ve seen say this about They Never Know. I never thought of it as a risky song, I really liked the message of the song though.

Korea isn’t pro-LGBT at all and the song practically screams pro-LGBT vibes – a perceived ‘forbidden’ love, about which other people curse you and your lover for but the two of you are standing strong through it all- the lyrics are something along those lines. Personally, I loved the lyrics (and the music) but it could have become an issue and I’m so glad it didn’t.

(a part from Lucky One, I was never too fond of it)

Ooh cool! I shall go check it out then. ^-^
I don’t listen to NCT but I did get SHINee vibes from several songs also. And I like SHINee so maybe that’s why I like them haha I don’t know.
I like Ooh La La also. 24/7, Smile on My Face Oasis and it are my favourites.

I heard Smile On My Face only once and that was while I was watching the showcase, I’ve skipped it every other time I’ve listened to the album today. There is no oomph to it, in my opinion. It was touted as a sort of Promise 2.0 but it didn’t deliver for me.
