Rookie Historian Episode #11

@snarkyjellyfish – today you asked if this show was fluffy and cute enough to watch. YES it is! And this latest one is so cute. Between a prince and a historian falling head over heels in love with a simple kiss on the cheek – historians fighting like thugs, and a eunuch who is so world-weary he is simply scene stealing, I really do recommend it.

Yes there are the usual politics, but there is also funny sound effects and a prince who is really as innocent as a 5 year old, a female lead who is intelligent and determined to create her own destiny.

But tonight was all about standing up and fighting for what you believe is right.
It seems that once again it is the students who push things to the limit (see Hong Kong 2019, Tiananmen Square – 1989, Gwanju South Korea -1979, students in Iran-1999, the flower power movement in the US in the 1960s – and the list goes on…)

But our protagonists decide that their leader can’t do whatever he wants just because he is the king! (how does this King remind me of some idiot in the WH who thinks he is “the chosen one”?)
Truly a fun show and I’m enjoying every episode.

An aside – do we have another ship to launch between Min and Sa-hee? I sure hope so – he is a much better match for her than the crown prince.

Yeah, this show continues to surprise me with its biting commentary amidst the fluff and slapstick. I actually got a lump in my throat when the Sungkyungkwan scholars showed up.

When I saw how they were all acting I thought of you @snarkyjellyfish – and I just had to tell you about it. honestly it was so much fun watching them all act and pose like thugs. Cute show even without the main leads for most of this episode!

I’ll definitely be giving it a shot this weekend if I can. I really just want some cute fluff to watch because work and life have been too busy lately and I need brain candy to relax with.

Understand completely. Is your boxing classes helping at all? If you were closer I’d invite you to come dig things up in my garden this weekend!

Ha, thanks! That does sound relaxing. Boxing helps, but I haven’t been to yoga in three weeks and I think that’s a big part of it – it’s how I reset for the week and my brain hasn’t had that in nearly a month now. I don’t garden (big city) but I do have a lot of houseplants (I may have a problem) and tending to them is my other routine that’s been disrupted and throwing me off. I’ve been busy with family the last three weekends and I need a break for myself to recharge. Work is busy, but not horrifically stressful, which is good just tiring. Hopefully this weekend is free for me to relax/binge something.

Officer Yang for the win! I loved his speech. He’s so right about what if they let the king see the records, it would take hundreds of years to correct it and would waste hundreds of years of suffering the past historians had to endure.

Officer Yang is really quite fun. He has been overthetop with his reactions about everything so far and frankly a bit annoying – but now that he is showing his true value as a leader I love him!
(Especially how he hides in the back and encourages everyone else from the sidelines.)

That made me laugh so hard! He’s like Don’t back down!! while staying back. Hahahahhaha
