Beanie level: Errand boy

Watching Weightlifting Fairy for the first time. I’m on Episode 6 and it is pissing me off. There AIN’T NO WAY, by Aretha Franklin, you would do that to my child and all this bullying is ridiculous.

Is anyone watching Never Twice?

I do, but I mostly ff to Park Sewan and Kwak Dong Yeon parts.

I am. I feel I like it more than I should. Kwak Dong Yeon makes me laugh and I’m amused by the two gold diggers. Even the annoying chaebol heiress is less annoying than the same character in other dramas.

Sooo I guess Netflix will be getting some good dramas next year. Guess I can’t drop them as I’d planned.

I forgot why I was reluctant to rewatch One Spring night but it came back to me after I started. The sisters have an amazing relationship and it makes me feel lonely.

Dongbaek won’t let JongRyeol tell anyone he is Pil Gu’s dad and wants him to stay away from him but doesn’t bat an eyelash when Yong Shik claims him as his son? This is what all the Beanies have been proclaiming is a great female lead and why YS is so awesome? I call bullshit.

First and completely off-topic, it took DB WAY too long to defend her son. You can talk about me all you want but mess with my kid and I will reign down FIRE on yo ass!!!

Second, JR needs to step up and claim his son. Pil Gu knows now so either step up and be a father or go away and leave them alone.

Third, DB was orphaned so shouldn’t she want her son to have both parents? Regardless of her reasons for keeping them apart in the beginning, they both know now so there is more harm in keeping them apart.

It’s unfair to think that because JR isn’t the man for DB he wouldn’t be a good dad to PG. Most of this is DB fault but JR is not blameless. Stop trying to get back with DB and just worry about your son.

I am over it. I will finish because it’s too late to stop but I won’t complain on the Beanie wall about it anymore. I’ll leave it to the people that enjoy it.

I agree so much, she is such a mess but nobody gets her. In a way she is very well written, it’s just weird that people only think what the show tells them to think about her. The fact JR acts like a puppet because the writer wants people to ship the OTP is so silly. I find his behavior so strange that I haven’t even caught up, don’t know if I should.

    1
    1

I wrote that after episode 11 but 12 really made me mad. YS doesn’t want DB to be around JR ever which is impossible because they have a kid together. DB doesn’t want JR to buy PG toys or give him money but it wouldn’t be so excessive if she hadn’t kept PG away from him. YS’s mom wants DB to stay away from YS but wants PG to still come by. You just yelled at his mom that you don’t like her anymore (because your son likes a single mom and that comes with baggage) , why would her son still come by to see you? JR is somehow supposed to be an asshole for not wanting another man to raise the son he just found. PG hates his dad because he’s jealous of how JR treated his daughter (because DB hasn’t told anyone the truth).

The only two characters that make sense are JR and PG. I think I’ll wait until Joker is revealed and watch that episode because the rest is just too stupid for me.

Flower Crew isn’t as bad as I thought. Some of it is ridiculous, like the shades, but I am enjoying the leads.

I love it so far. It’s one I’d actually binge if I could.

It’s one of those shows I don’t understand why it isn’t doing better.

People here are more into Tale of Nokdu. Maybe it’s sageuk overload? It’s on the light side compared to the other airing right now too. I love the female roles in this one, especially our lead.

I thought it was getting low ratings but I checked and it seems pretty average for a cable drama.

Question, is the youngest matchmaker supposed to be gay or just metro? He is so cute with his jealousy of GD.

I haven’t figured that one out either. It’s an interesting twist calling the other men unni without them flinching.

I might have to start Nokdu over from the beginning because I’m totally lost. I haven’t even got to the “shocking plot twist” yet.

Well now. That’s a great reason to start over.
Plagiarising that reason if you don’t mind!

There’s no way you can make me believe Sun Ho is anything but a grade A, first-class dick. The father who tried to have him killed is who he chose over the friend that would give his life for him. To make matters worse Sun Ho is now the apple of Yeon’s eye. Yeah, y’all can miss me with that “he’s conflicted and he really loves Hwi” crap. He has his own agenda and he used and continues to use Hwi to get there. Even in the revenge Sun Ho seeks on his father, Hwi is nothing but a pawn. There is no redemption for Sun Ho to me.

Just starting My Country and honestly, I don’t buy Sun Ho’s conflict. Like what did he think was going to happen to Yeon was Hwi was carted away? Sun Ho is no better than his father.

2

Then you should love the female lead. Sun Ho’s my favorite. His conflict becomes clearer, but I get what you’re saying.

Is that the CEO of Goryeo Publishing in Tale of Nokdu? I finally started it and was pleasantly surprised to see him.

Dongbaek was wrong for not telling him about Pil Gu and Yong Sik has not right to tell him not to come around. Jong Ryeol is not the man for Dongbaek but he has a right to his son.

I’ve been saying this in every recap kkk
She’s not just wrong in the past she keeps thinking and acting as if she has the complete right to keep him away from the child. I can’t like this character, it’s my first GHJ unlikable woman.

    2

People seem to think because JR is not such a nice guy she can do something like that. I can forgive YS a little because she let him believe JR abandoned them which isn’t the truth. Again, disliking this woman.

    2
    1

My problem with JR is that he is not thinking about what’s good/right for the kid. He is only thinking about it from his perspective.
I do understand he and DB have unresolved issues and what happened in the past cannot be fixed. He was shocked with this news and he has been acting like this because of this shock. But I expected him to come around and act maturely.
But I don’t like the way he is acting in the present especially episode 8. I really hated the way he looked down on her ‘parenting’ and chose to insult her in front of the kid. He really pissed me off there.
I have been saying from the beginning that these two are going to hurt the kid. It was hard to see PG realizing who his father was. Just hard.
And for that am mad at both the parents.

I get where YS is coming from. I have nothing against him.

    3
    2

My problem with YS is regardless of his feelings for DB, what happens between the parents concerning their child is none of his business. He has no right to tell that man not to come around to try to get to know his kid. JR wasn’t right for yelling at DB in front of PG (I wasn’t even mad at the chop to the neck) but all of that could have been avoided if she didn’t hide her pregnancy. DB is the cause for every problem concerning her son and his father.

      @mayhemf
I agree he isn’t mature either, none of them are, I just like him better than the others because I think he is less at fault. I wouldn’t say he chose to insult her but he had no business talking about her parenting style like that, he was just jealous though he shouldn’t be. I was still angry at YS when again he chose to solve that through violence, that isn’t the way, and DB didn’t even care, just like she doesn’t care people think she was abandoned, so convenient. That scene she said she didn’t want to accept JR’s money, even though she needs it and it would not be a favor, just part of his duty, but still she refuses so she can keep pretending PG is only hers, like an object, that was worse than anything JR has ever done. He doesn’t call on it because the writer doesn’t want us to think she is that selfish so JR is merely a puppet on a love triangle that was set from the start. He is a bit obsessed with her so he thinks he has a responsibility towards both of them instead of just the kid. Pil-Gu is the most mature character in the whole drama.

I was excited for this batch of dramas but so far everything is meh. Kang Ha Neul’s character in Camellia is not endearing to me as he seems to be with everyone else. I am a sucker for a good action movie but as a drama Vagabond isn’t holding my interest. Soo Hyang and Jang Woo are two of my favorites so if it weren’t for them I would have dropped Graceful Family. ( I knew what the reveal of the second son was going to be as soon as I saw the clothes in the apartment. It has been done in several US and Korean shows) The Great show is ok but I hate when the good guys lose every single time until the very end. All I can say is I’m glad fall tv has started back here. I need something to watch.

I read that some of the subbers at Viki are striking. I’m letting my subscription go. If they have another special I might get it back but otherwise

I mean, I get it. I hold no ill will toward the volunteers however I will not continue to pay when what I want to watch takes weeks for one episode or is not subbed. Especially when it’s because it’s not popular. UGH, I’m going to miss out on quite a few dramas…legally.

11
5

I let mine go because I was upset that the subbers remain unpaid despite them introducing a premium service. And now they’re replacing them with bots? But continuing to charge a premium price? I’m very done with Viki.

    6
    2

Thats why I stopped using Viki too. 😔

      1

The quality of the subs by the volunteers can NOT be beat. I don’t understand how Viki thinks a bot can compete with that. I do think a lot of it is because since the demise of DramFever (#forevermissed) people flocked to Viki and complain about the speed and incomplete subs. Thereby giving Rakuten a reason to implement their bot.

The subs for subscription trade was nice until Kocowa came along. It is very unfair and RViki benefits the most now. Kocowa messed up a lot things for the Korean drama community.

I was upset at first but honestly, Kocowa is just doing what everyone else is doing. Streaming their own content instead of letting someone else make money off it.

There’s been support for Vagabond, Pegasus Mart, Camellia…

I saw a couple of people talking about Vagabond. I watched Camellia so I hope it fills the wall soon. Vagabond is entertaining but there’s really not much to talk about with an action drama. I want to check out Flower Crew and Pegasus but have to find where they’re subbed.

Am watching Camellia. I love it so far.
And continuing the old shows ‘The Great Show’, ‘Rookie historian’.
I have to catch up on ‘I hear your song’.
I don’t plan to start anything new until these shows end. Its just too much to handle!!
You have a good week too!

I am really enjoying The Great Show. Very rarely does a k-drama tackle these topics.
