Beanie level: Noble idiot

I thought I was one of those that would never be swayed by PPL. I write this as I sip my daily dose of Maxim while I hit “order” on my cart full of Korean skincare products.

People keep reminding me I need to order some k-beauty stuff! What did you order? (I am swayed by PPL!)

    2

I ordered different types of sunscreens (face/body). People keep telling me Korean/Asian sunscreens are WAY better than the ones we get here in the US. As in, they’re not as chalky and don’t flake. I also got face cleanser, lip tings, emulsion, moisturizer and some face masks (yes, my bank account is crying). I am TRYING to do the whole K beauty regime but my middle name is lazy with all capital letters. Up until now, I just haven’t cared much for skincare/ make up. My daily “beauty” regime has been – shower, apply coconut oil all over, done. I can practically hear the whole beanieverse gasping in horror. Yes I know, I should take better care of my skin. I’m trying!

Swap the coconut oil for olive oil and you’re me. I did find a Korean face moisturizer I’m now totally devoted to.

@ally-le I’ll let you know how effective my products turn out to be if I remember to not be lazy. But then again, I feel like I’ll force myself to not be lazy after spending so much money on them, lol

Y’all, I don’t think Seo Woo Jin was jealous of In Bum when he and Kim Sabu hugged. I think he was bummed because Samchoon hugged Kim Sabu instead of him! Why did you have to do that to our Chan, Samchoon? Lol I kid. But it would’ve been nice if they’d thrown in some 30 But 17 meta in there.

Hi Bye, Mama seems like it’s going to rip my heart out. Beanies that are watching this show, I’ll take you any insight you may have on this drama. I’m thinking I’ll give it a couple of episode and feel out the fan wall before deciding.

I see so many beanies being vulnerable in their “Love, February” posts and it’s fantastic. It’s nice to know that this really is a safe space, we support each other even if it’s virtually and that really helps. Sometimes it’s hard to open up to your closest support system, so it’s reassuring to have Beanies cheering you on. Not everyone understands what you’re going through or have been through because “ not everyone can see your thestrals **”, but we’re still going to be here for you, in whichever capacity possible.

There are several versions of this MV out. I think this one is my favorite. I just needed to put it up here for my own reference.

My office is part of a large campus with many office buildings. My actual team sits in a different building, and I sit with people on a project I am working on. I don\’t know most of the people in this building. During the workday, I like to take 5 minute breaks now and then to stretch my legs, get some water, use the facilities, etc. I started passing by the same few people during my breaks. We eventually got to the \”smile-and-say-hello\” phase while passing by. A few months ago, one gentleman stopped me to chat with me. He asked myย name,ย about my project, and where I sat in the building. Ever since that day, he would come by at least once a week to either chat or drop off something at my desk – an apple, a water bottle, a cookie, etc. Today, he came by and dropped off a brownie, with napkins, a fork, and a knife.
ย
Dear sir, youย have no ideaย who I am as a person. You only know my name, yet you show such random acts of kindness and thoughtfulness towards me. Youย have no ideaย how your random visits (even without the gifts) and a quick chat brightens up my day. Thank you for being you.

Love,
February

Parasite winning big at the Oscars is a win for SO many different reasons. Obviously, the team that created this masterpiece is going to be happy and proud. This has nothing to do with me. The only way I was โ€œinvolvedโ€ was that I watched the movie โ€“ and got 5 (yes FIVE!) other people who roll their eyes at me when I talk about K-dramas to watch it with me. They all enjoyed the movie and were now open to other foreign language productions (Doesnโ€™t have to be K-ent!)
So then, if this has nothing to do with me, why do I feel such a feeling of contentment and satisfaction towards their win? I donโ€™t gain anything from it. I am just so darn happy for the team. I donโ€™t understand this emotion but itโ€™s there.
To everyone that was involved in the success of Parasite, including the audience, congratulations!

I am waiting for tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow will be the end of waiting, and beginning of something amazing. I keep telling myself not to worry. I don\’t have any control over the outcome. If the outcome is in my favor, there will be a whole new meaning of love with it\’s wonderful layers. Here\’s to hoping for a different kind of love.

Love,

Hi Beanies! Long time no see! I have a question for the more knowledgeable beanies. This came to me while I was listening to the Spirits Podcast. They recently did an episode on Jacheongbi. I haven\’t researched this so I don\’t know much about it but from what I heard on the podcast (and you can trust Julia to do her research), it seemed something right out of a K-Drama! That being said, I was wondering there is a drama(s) that has explored this mythology? If not, WHY NOT?!?

Also – if you enjoy mythology/urban legends from around the world, I would highly recommend the Spirits Podcast!

Dear Beanies,

Hello! It\’s been too long, I think over six months (gasp), since I\’ve been on the wall. Don\’t worry, I\’ve been lurking on the site now and then. Life got really crazy. It\’s still crazy, but I\’ve gotten to a point where I have make a point to getaway to my happy place to get away from real life (Yes, Beanieland is one of my happy places). I thought maybe once I had gotten everything in order, I\’d ease back into beanie life but it\’s six months later and life shows no hints of slowing down.

Basically in the last six months, we have moved, settled into a new place, tried to unpack, failed to unpack, tried to take care of things that magically started breaking after we moved in, succeeded in some of the fixing of the things, spectacularly failed in others, attempted at spring cleaning, kept up with work, *tried* to workout and keep a healthy lifestyle, continued with part time masters, attempted at building a dining table (another story, another time), tackled dance classes that continue to kick my butt among other things. I still have boxes lined up against wall that I\’m living out of, yet I have rooms that are practically empty. There are times I find my self lying awake at night going through the ever growing to-do list. I\’ve added weeding/planting to that list recently. Will it ever stop? Will there ever come a time when I\’ll find myself just sitting on the couch without feeling guilty about all the unfinished tasks (because I\’ve miraculously finished them)? If anyone has the answers, I\’m willing to pay for the answers with baked goods.

I\’m was my wits end. So much so that Mr. Spicykimchi had to intervene and say \”why don\’t you watch a drama?\” I haven\’t watched many dramas since my last post on here. I finished Mr. Sunshine and Life on Mars. I tried watching Memories of the Alhambra, couldn\’t go past episode 2. That\’s when I started Romance Is A Bonus Book. It\’s a fluff, put-your-brain-aside-and-just-enjoy-the-cuteness drama.. But I think I needed it. It gave me an hour away from real life every now and then. After I finished it, Mr. Spicykimchi go worried again (he\’s a dear). I think it\’s mainly because I put him to work as well. I\’ve been making a conscious effort to not be on go-go-go mode recently. I\’ve read a couple of books, and that helped too. I figured maybe it was time to come back to Dramabeans and be active here again. Reconnect with old beanies, and meet some new ones. I didn\’t realize how much you guys help in keeping me sane (relative term, really).

So essentially, with this really long rambling post what I\’m trying to say is: Hi guys! How\’s it going? How have you all been?

P.S: What have I missed out on? What should I catch up on? What should I avoid at all cost?

*finger hearts*

Awwww *sending warm happy vibes and hugs to you*
Also hello! Hope you get some comfort from dramaland and beanieland!

I am currently watching “Her Private Life” and apart from some/many problems with the fangirl life shown there, the fluff really is adorable!
The other show I am watching is “He is Psychometric” and it’s in it’s finale week so maybe you can see the beanie reaction before starting it. It is an interesting show. I went in thinking it will be fluffy but it turned out to be a much deeper murder mystery!
Also beanies have been collectively fangirling over a C-drama called “Put your head on my shoulders”… I haven’t checked it out yet but beanies seem to love it!

P.S. Mr. Spicykimchi sounds like the best hubby ever!

HI! I’ve been seeing beanies squee over Her Private Life and I think I might have to join the madness! It looks just the thing I could use right now. Let me know your overall thoughts on He is Psychometric and I’ll check it out based on the recs! I STARTED THE C-DRAMA. Beanies are the best influence. I can’t stop watching it! I’m 6 episodes in already ๐Ÿ˜€
And thank you! Mr. Spickykimchi is the best <3

Your husband sounds so sweet. I agree with Muchie. Psychometric is really good so far. Although you might want to wait until it finishes tomorrow to see if it is good until the end. Also, Psychometric was fun at first but it got pretty intense towards the end. If you’re looking for cute and fluffy, Put Your Head on My Shoulder (on Youtube) is perfect.

Welcome back, Beanie spicykimchi! Mr Spicykimchi sounds like a really great guy. Your last six months sounds exhausting and I wish you luck and energy for dealing with everything. I hear that there are people who actually get everything done but in my house it’s more like, hope for the best and jettison things that aren’t imperative. Dramas, of course, are necessary. 😉

    3
    1

Thank you! Haha, he’s pretty great. I think I just needed to vent it out. I always feel like I’m not getting enough done. I always look at our parents and wonder how they managed everything like a boss! Sometimes I just want a week off from work so that I can get all the house work that’s been piling up. That’s when Mr.S intervenes and suggests an episode or two of a drama 😂

    Welcome back, @spicykimchi !

Life and adulting have a way of getting in the way, huh… Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do! And as your awesome hubby Mr. SpicyKimchi suggested, intentionally going into your happy worry-free place for a breather is necessary.

    What to avoid: a burnout.

    Stay well !

Adulting is hard! Agreed, sometimes you gotta pencil in a relaxing hour or so in the calendar 😂 Ugh so close to a burnout. But I’m backing off and just taking it easy for now.

Peaking in Beanies! Still have to catch up on pretty much everything, so avoiding the Beanie wall for the moment. I hope everyone\’s been doing well!

All right Beanies,

Life is taking over, as life does. I will be out of town for a couple of weeks (with next to zero access to internet) and once I get back to town, some major moving is happening (oh the joys of moving). This means my life will consists of no dramas for the next 3-4 weeks. I hope to finish up WWWSK, LoM; catch up with Mr.Sunshine and start Life – once life (hah) gets back on track. You\’ll have to excuse my delayed posts about episode reactions and comments on your posts that I\’ll go back and read. In the meanwhile let me know if I miss any good new dramas while I\’m gone. I hope life treats everyone well!

Happy Drama Watching!

Watching Let\’s Eat 2 episode where they\’re eating Indian food and all I can think about is – that\’s not how you eat it! I mean sure you can technically eat it any way you want to. It\’s really all about how you enjoy your food, and there is no right way to eat it. BUT – why would you put Kofta gravy (cream based gravy – usually eaten with some sort of bread, usually naan or plain rice) on biryani (spiced rice)? I worship biryani and consider this sacrilegious. Why would you put daal (lentil) on your spice roasted meat(chicken? I wouldn\’t know) on skewer, when it comes with its own sauces for you to dip in to enhance the flavors? color me baffled. Also Naan to subzi/daal ratio also confused me but that could just be my personal preference.

Haha there obviously needs to be an Indian Let’s eat series!

To clarify – the briyani looking thing could’ve just been rice with saffron or just plain spiced rice as it didn’t display other biryani traits so I could be in the wrong here
