Beanie level: Noble idiot

For you, my Queen @

Dear Beanies,

Hello! It\’s been too long, I think over six months (gasp), since I\’ve been on the wall. Don\’t worry, I\’ve been lurking on the site now and then. Life got really crazy. It\’s still crazy, but I\’ve gotten to a point where I have make a point to getaway to my happy place to get away from real life (Yes, Beanieland is one of my happy places). I thought maybe once I had gotten everything in order, I\’d ease back into beanie life but it\’s six months later and life shows no hints of slowing down.

Basically in the last six months, we have moved, settled into a new place, tried to unpack, failed to unpack, tried to take care of things that magically started breaking after we moved in, succeeded in some of the fixing of the things, spectacularly failed in others, attempted at spring cleaning, kept up with work, *tried* to workout and keep a healthy lifestyle, continued with part time masters, attempted at building a dining table (another story, another time), tackled dance classes that continue to kick my butt among other things. I still have boxes lined up against wall that I\’m living out of, yet I have rooms that are practically empty. There are times I find my self lying awake at night going through the ever growing to-do list. I\’ve added weeding/planting to that list recently. Will it ever stop? Will there ever come a time when I\’ll find myself just sitting on the couch without feeling guilty about all the unfinished tasks (because I\’ve miraculously finished them)? If anyone has the answers, I\’m willing to pay for the answers with baked goods.

I\’m was my wits end. So much so that Mr. Spicykimchi had to intervene and say \”why don\’t you watch a drama?\” I haven\’t watched many dramas since my last post on here. I finished Mr. Sunshine and Life on Mars. I tried watching Memories of the Alhambra, couldn\’t go past episode 2. That\’s when I started Romance Is A Bonus Book. It\’s a fluff, put-your-brain-aside-and-just-enjoy-the-cuteness drama.. But I think I needed it. It gave me an hour away from real life every now and then. After I finished it, Mr. Spicykimchi go worried again (he\’s a dear). I think it\’s mainly because I put him to work as well. I\’ve been making a conscious effort to not be on go-go-go mode recently. I\’ve read a couple of books, and that helped too. I figured maybe it was time to come back to Dramabeans and be active here again. Reconnect with old beanies, and meet some new ones. I didn\’t realize how much you guys help in keeping me sane (relative term, really).

So essentially, with this really long rambling post what I\’m trying to say is: Hi guys! How\’s it going? How have you all been?

P.S: What have I missed out on? What should I catch up on? What should I avoid at all cost?

*finger hearts*

Awwww *sending warm happy vibes and hugs to you*
Also hello! Hope you get some comfort from dramaland and beanieland!

I am currently watching “Her Private Life” and apart from some/many problems with the fangirl life shown there, the fluff really is adorable!
The other show I am watching is “He is Psychometric” and it’s in it’s finale week so maybe you can see the beanie reaction before starting it. It is an interesting show. I went in thinking it will be fluffy but it turned out to be a much deeper murder mystery!
Also beanies have been collectively fangirling over a C-drama called “Put your head on my shoulders”… I haven’t checked it out yet but beanies seem to love it!

P.S. Mr. Spicykimchi sounds like the best hubby ever!

HI! I’ve been seeing beanies squee over Her Private Life and I think I might have to join the madness! It looks just the thing I could use right now. Let me know your overall thoughts on He is Psychometric and I’ll check it out based on the recs! I STARTED THE C-DRAMA. Beanies are the best influence. I can’t stop watching it! I’m 6 episodes in already πŸ˜€
And thank you! Mr. Spickykimchi is the best <3

Your husband sounds so sweet. I agree with Muchie. Psychometric is really good so far. Although you might want to wait until it finishes tomorrow to see if it is good until the end. Also, Psychometric was fun at first but it got pretty intense towards the end. If you’re looking for cute and fluffy, Put Your Head on My Shoulder (on Youtube) is perfect.

      Hello my Captain!
Aww thank you πŸ™‚ Mr. Spicykimchi has been blushing with all the good things y’all have been saying lol. I’ll check out Psychometric based on you guys’ overall thoughts but I started Put Your Head on My Shoulder! I’m already 6 episodes in – and I’m obsessed. It’s bad. How are you doing with the Korean practices?

Welcome back!!! Have fun picking and watching dramas ahaha ☺

Welcome back, Beanie spicykimchi! Mr Spicykimchi sounds like a really great guy. Your last six months sounds exhausting and I wish you luck and energy for dealing with everything. I hear that there are people who actually get everything done but in my house it’s more like, hope for the best and jettison things that aren’t imperative. Dramas, of course, are necessary. 😉

Thank you! Haha, he’s pretty great. I think I just needed to vent it out. I always feel like I’m not getting enough done. I always look at our parents and wonder how they managed everything like a boss! Sometimes I just want a week off from work so that I can get all the house work that’s been piling up. That’s when Mr.S intervenes and suggests an episode or two of a drama 😂

    Welcome back, @spicykimchi !

Life and adulting have a way of getting in the way, huh… Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do! And as your awesome hubby Mr. SpicyKimchi suggested, intentionally going into your happy worry-free place for a breather is necessary.

    What to avoid: a burnout.

    Stay well !

Adulting is hard! Agreed, sometimes you gotta pencil in a relaxing hour or so in the calendar 😂 Ugh so close to a burnout. But I’m backing off and just taking it easy for now.

you guys, Dong Mae breaks my heart. Also – the ladies in this series are my girl crushes. I hope they become allies and friends because that double dose of bad ass would be, well, bad ass *crawls back into the rush of real life*

Peaking in Beanies! Still have to catch up on pretty much everything, so avoiding the Beanie wall for the moment. I hope everyone\’s been doing well!

All right Beanies,

Life is taking over, as life does. I will be out of town for a couple of weeks (with next to zero access to internet) and once I get back to town, some major moving is happening (oh the joys of moving). This means my life will consists of no dramas for the next 3-4 weeks. I hope to finish up WWWSK, LoM; catch up with Mr.Sunshine and start Life – once life (hah) gets back on track. You\’ll have to excuse my delayed posts about episode reactions and comments on your posts that I\’ll go back and read. In the meanwhile let me know if I miss any good new dramas while I\’m gone. I hope life treats everyone well!

Happy Drama Watching!

Spicykimchi

Watching Let\’s Eat 2 episode where they\’re eating Indian food and all I can think about is – that\’s not how you eat it! I mean sure you can technically eat it any way you want to. It\’s really all about how you enjoy your food, and there is no right way to eat it. BUT – why would you put Kofta gravy (cream based gravy – usually eaten with some sort of bread, usually naan or plain rice) on biryani (spiced rice)? I worship biryani and consider this sacrilegious. Why would you put daal (lentil) on your spice roasted meat(chicken? I wouldn\’t know) on skewer, when it comes with its own sauces for you to dip in to enhance the flavors? color me baffled. Also Naan to subzi/daal ratio also confused me but that could just be my personal preference.

Haha there obviously needs to be an Indian Let’s eat series!

To clarify – the briyani looking thing could’ve just been rice with saffron or just plain spiced rice as it didn’t display other biryani traits so I could be in the wrong here

Even though I’m a vegetarian, I’m from Lucknow so I cannot bear the wrong way of eating biryani

WOAH. DB is recapping Let\’s Eat 3! I need to finish watching 2, before I can pick up 3 but I\’m so excited about all the food galore!

Yayyy! That’s what I’m watching tonight. I’m assuming it’ll be full recaps. Or at least I hope so. They did not do full recaps of the previous seasons. o:

I’m on the 3rd episode of Mr. Sunshine and I’m…bored. The transitions seem so choppy. There is no flow to the plot and I cannot connect to the main couple. I’ll stick around for a few more episodes and hope it gets better but so far – it’s meh.

agree with you, the plot didn’t flow very well. it’s like watching a video clip. I’m afraid the director focused more on taking beautiful pictures than creating a story.

I\’ll admit most of EP 12 for WWWSK was fluff but damn – those last 15 minutes made up for the whole episode! PSJ is λŒ€λ°•

Sometimes I forget how good of an actor he is. Then he does emotional stuff like this and I’m like, Dayum, he’s next-level caliber.

The kids in WWWSK are just too darn cute! Especially the little boy!

The kid playing young Young-joon is amazing. His voice is also so low for a child’s that I can’t help but think, whenever he talks, that when he hits puberty his voice is going to drop to his shoes!

Dear Dramagods,

Please, for the love of all that is holy and sacred in dramaland, don\’t let dad be as guilty as he seemed to us in that episode. My heart breaks for little Te-ju, grown up Te-ju and the viewers. There has to be a reason behind it. Also Dramagods, why oh why would you put a son through a cycle like that? That\’s just cruel. Not cool.

Sincerely,

A Viewer on the Edge of Her Seat

Current Watch Status

WWWSK: Ep 10 (OMG the cuteness!)

Life on Mars: Ep 6 (I love this show! Yes, I know I need to catch up before the weekend.)

Mr. Sunshine: Ep 2 (Holy crap the cinematography!)

Guys, This is the first time I\’m not only watching 3 shows at the same time but live watching them!

14
2

I’m watching 4 currently airing shows. I don’t think this has ever happened to me before. I also know that once my college schedule picks back up in late August I won’t be live-watching anything for a long time!

Haha, this was only because I had 3 days to myself including the weekend last week. This week seems to be a different story

ALSO – next time I hesitate to start a drama that is clearly unmissable – someone please shake me up. HOW did I not start watching LoM when it started? This show is something else…

FINALLY!!! *squeeee* sorry beanies, I had to let the excitement out somewhere. Cannot WAIT for the subs for WWWSK Ep 10 to come out.

Dang it! I was going to hold out until Life on Mars was finished before binging it, but seems like the live-watching bug has taken root and now I feel like I\’m not getting the full effect if I\’m not live watching and discussing it with beanies. (Honestly, just having some drama FOMO)

I miss the days when I didn’t live-watch and enjoyed a normal drama watching life (if such a thing exists)

Who am I kidding? No, I don’t. I love live watching. I hate the wait, anitcipation, and the frustration. But I love the live discussions and theories even more.

Here I go beanies – EP 1 of LoM

When I first saw Namgoong Min in Chief Kim he strongly reminded me of Jung Yong Hwa of CNBlue. YES I know Namgoong Min is a WAY better actor than JYH (sorry boo, you’re pretty and I like your music but your acting could use some help). I\’ve seen his stills from Falsify and there he looks completely different. But then the stills from Undatables/ Hnadsome Guy put me back in the same mindset as Chief Kim and I CAN’T SHAKE IT OFF. Rant over.
