I think the fallout from Im Si Wan and WonSan camp is significant in Korea. Yoona was being diplomatic. In another interview, she said she was careful to portray platonic love for one guy and romantic love for another and not to mix them up. That made sense to me.

I realized that the drama isn’t too favorable to Im Si Wan and the poor guy is in army. I am sure his fans in Korea are very angry with the situation.

this drama should be written by the Lookout writers. they make KYK anti-hero character believable. whoever the team writer for TKL suck cuz they are too afraid in following the original material and think about rating too much.

Yes, they were thinking of ratings. It was in a way half-baked. They wanted to stay true to the original but yet afraid to be obvious. Not to mention, quite a waste of Im Si Wan. He did well in here but lost the opportunity to show us how he’ll fare as a darker character.

Second this! Well Lookout did win 3rd best script for MBC script contest.

agree with you.. Imo.. SJN herself want to change the ending because based on her interview in JPN mag… she told that she likes won more than rin and san… she even asked hjh and yoona’s cordi..” between wonsanrin, which one do you like the most?” then the cordis answered “won”… she praised siwan a lot…but the ending is too much for me as won’s team T.T
even if they want to follow original novel.. please make won’s character “more darker than “dark-flower boy”… in novel won’s character is similar to LDG in 7DQ..but unfortunately they changed it a lotttt T.T

This whole thing makes me sad – hope that HJH isn’t getting a bunch of flack from knetizens. The only thing I will give them credit for on being confused by San’s feelings (because frankly I didn’t think the drama was confusing at all, she drew the line early), is that the promotional material and teasers outlined a San-Won pairing. Other than that this whole thing makes me want to go angry mama bear on people dissing the show and actors.

Yes, I agree about the promotional material, the assumption that the 1st lead always gets the girl, the ‘blurred out’ kiss in the trailer and the very initial part of the drama where San was friendly to both guys. A couple of others were open to interpretation like the red thread. However, it became clearer and clearer that it was Rin that San loves. Even Won knows that and it’s shown more than once and very obvious too. The only thing I couldn’t bank on was whether the writer has the guts to stick to what they intent. I was prepared for the worst that against all logic and what has been shown, it end up WonSan.

The fan wars and the denial right to the very end opened my eyes to human behavior. This is just a drama and fictional characters we are talking about but in real life, people do twist facts and delude themselves. It’s quite alarming.

I was telling @valentina days ago that one of the camp might be trolled. My sympathies to those who were rooting for WonSan because they love the pair. There’s absolutely nothing wrong in favoring one over the other. The thing I found harder to understand was the aftermath.

I was worried about a last minute switch at the end too, but I’m glad they went with the friendship and Won’s growth being the main point. I mean I loooooove Rin and Rin/San together, but I also loved that the point was that The King Loves 🙂 I feel bad for the team that it all got so twisted. And the red thread was maybe the only thing that would have convinced me that we were heading to San staying with Won out of pity. Hmm I guess I should hold my other comments for the recaps!

And yes the fan wars and delusional ways of viewing the drama are quite frightening. It’s a bit too close to the world’s reality right now.

I’m RinSan shipper and as the story goes by, I’m more than convinced that San loves Rin. True the promotional material seems like San-Won pairing, but the poster of San and Won is not a happy one. You could see how Won hugged San as if he doesn’t want to let go of her and San isn’t happy either in the poster. So it’s not a misleading promotional material to me.

You are right – she definitely doesn’t look happy in the posters. I think they should have had more of Rin though, since people seemed surprised that he had more of a role than the usual quiet longing bodyguard in sageuks. I don’t think people could let go of what they thought the story was about to actually watch it.

This! Honestly when I put myself in the shoes of ISW fans, I think I would be so pissed, not to mention irritated that people were going gaga over HJH. I can understand the unhappiness and anger but to twist the story and bomb HJH’s IG is something else.

I may not understand perfectly but I do know that I’d be awfully upset if the ending was WonSan instead of my RinSan. So don’t beat yourself up too much.

While the finale focused on Won’s growth and his sacrifices, it didn’t lessen the pain of watching him standing there or sitting in the palace alone.
