I like her. I suppose having selective amnesia, specifically forgetting bad memories might be a good thing?

And yeah I’m at episode 46 so you may spoil away in the comments.

    I like their relationship ❤️

I’m on 45. Almost to the end!

Me too! I’m 90% sure we will have a happy ending, but I’m looking nervously at that 10% because I want the squad to survive and things are looking a bit grim.

But she forgot him too! 😭

Episode 46 is one of my favourites! I didn’t see how it actually happened, but fangirl heart is very happy with this episode! So much cuteness 🥰

I don’t remember in which episode it was so I’ll try to stay vague: I was heartbroken when they showed us what he did to his entry in her journal. 💔

I’m sure it was before ep 46. Not sure which episode it was from… Episode 46 is when OTP reunited and got caught up with what’s happening from Sergeant Guo.

And I was heartbroken too….. I didn’t think I would like him in the end, but man the chain of events in this drama made me so soft and emo, I don’t even like talking about this part. I’m still hurt.

I think I called it in Ep. 33: Sergeant Guo has always shipped Gu Yanzhen and Xie Xiang. In ep. 46 he practically invited himself to their grand wedding event LOL.

I chuckled at this dinner reunion with all the couples… and Junshan as the third wheel XD

Tingbai-gege couldn’t be more heartbroken for Junshan and the awkward situation they are all in. He’s calling for a separate post!

Huehehhehe. The captain is stirring the wheel of the ship indeed! Gu Yanzhen though so extra – “wait I’m not prepared” 🤣 he always needs to be the centre of attention!

My bbs are so so cute the entire dinner scene. I can’t take my eyes off their intertwined hands. These two feed my soul everytime.

Also Xiang Xiang is really pretty in that scene. 💘💘

HAHAHA Tingbai tried to put in a good word for his little brother: “Actually Xie Xiang, you don’t know this but Junshan didn’t sleep all night because he was so worried.” Nice try, but that doesn’t compare to Gu Yanzhen breaking into a hospital etc. etc.

And Gu Yanzhen is sitting there all smug and holding her hand… Yes, this calls for a separate post, but we have to avoid spoilers 😉

Oh sorry, I meant a separate post in this thread! I didn’t want to lump his epic screenshot with my over the top spazzing for the OTP. Lol.

Anyways yes, I love how Tingbai spoke for his brother, he is awesome like that 💘 But Gu Yanzhen won’t sit around and wait for too long if things aren’t going his way. He did tell her at the Xie residence that he won’t let her go through troubles all by herself anymore. And he means what he says.

I’m missing the old Gu Yanzhen around this time. When she offered him a piece of the chicken, chessy Gu Yanzhen would have said “no I’m not eating. I’m full watching you eat like from Episode 33…!” But now he stops at “Eat it. I’ll watch..” 😭

They look so happy together m. I can’t even.

This was also the first time he called her “Xiang Xiang”. Sooooo cute.

Also can we like talk about Manting!!!! I feel like I should have seen her secret coming but omg I jawdropped when it dropped. My heart broke for her when she asked for a hug from Sergeant Guo. ❤️😭

I guess it’s better this way she chose not to know the full details. In her mind, he was the one.

Regarding Manting’s birth secret, the signs were very clear about her mother… but I still don’t know who her father is. Did she think Sergeant Guo is her father?

And awwwww. I totally melted seeing Shen Tingbai just being there for her, letting her be the boss and decide what to ask or say. Boy is whipped, just like Gu Yanzhen.

Yes, she thought Sergeant Guo was her father given his history of love and devotion to her aunt. That’s why she couldn’t say anything when they dropped the news that he got married. She didn’t want to interrupt the moment with what she found out. Her mother was gang r* so there’s technically no real father. Xiaoyu hunted down all the men involved in the incident for 20 years. In Episode 11, she had found the very last man. He changed his name so it was hard to find him.

What shocked me as well in this story was how Sergeant Lv seemed to have strong feelings for the aunt too. He was with her all day and night at the cemetery on her death anniversary. I thought it would be interesting had we explored the adults’ untold story too – the two sergeants, Xiaoyu, and Manting’s mother. Errr, I’m still trying to figure out if the man she married was Lv! He was drunk crying and had no facial hair, so I can’t really tell if it was the same face? But in Guo’s story on Manting’s birthday there were 4 of them.

            +++++
And yes on Tingbai!!! He looked so great waiting by his car while Guo and Manting were talking. He’s so whipped I liked how he quietly followed her after running into her at her house. And he gives this look at Guo when Manting trespassed Guo’s house:” 🤷‍♂️ I dunno what’s going on, I’m only following”. Lol.

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying. It’s pretty horrible what happened to her mother, and even worse the way her brother in law called her “lasciv*ous”. How can being rap*d be her fault?

That’s a shame. I was hoping to find out Lieutenant’s role in that story too! They never told us? His face when Manting showed up at the academy requesting a bodyguard showed he cared for her. I thought he might be the husband too.
            +++++
Manting better take good care of Shen Tingbai! I squealed when he asked if he has another chance in this life. \^O^/

Episode 46 healed me because honestly episodes 43-45 were so sad *cries*

So, I did not expect to like bully Li Wenzhong at all, and first he met this sweet girl and in the end did THAT. This show is mainly fun, but it delivers some punches when it comes to patriotism and friendship.

Augh I’m Still unable to talk about how this show broke me into pieces with its last arc.

But I’ll say this… at the beginning I found their patriotism and propaganda really cheesy (since I’m not into war dramas and all), but the longer I knew these characters, the more I became attached to each of them, the more the show kept throwing these patriotic scenes at me, the more their thoughts, passions, pride get the best of me. Their patriotism was so gripping.

          1
          2

It’s because their patriotism isn’t something abstract. It’s not about fighting for China – it’s about fighting the people who hurt their friends.

I don’t believe revenge is a good thing and am shocked by the cold-blooded way the Squad can kill people, but I think there is a cultural element to this: it seems the Chinese think if they don’t avenge people who were killed unfairly, the dead won’t be able to rest in peace.

The cold-blooded way the Squad can kill people,

Yes to everything you said and to add on to this my mindset was this was wartime. People get killed everyday. It’s either you kill or you get killed. Retaliation was common in this time and as you said it’s perhaps this is a Chinese belief/mindset. Junshan’s revenge for his family factory workers and that little girl and Gu Yanzhen’s revenge were driven by their sense of responsibility for their own people.

    what is this drama?

C-drama “Arsenal Military Academy”. Give it a try!

Sorry, I forgot to add a hashtag.

But yep, it’s a Cdrama set in a northern city in c. 1910-1913. Don’t look for a history lesson. Most of it is fun academy shenanigans, including a crossdressing female lead and a crazy narcissistic male lead, but there are a few serious patriotic moments due to tension with Japan.

Same!!! She came as a surprise, and I like the idea of 50 first dates between An Wen and Li Wenzhong!

And auugh because of An Wen…..I get to see these two horsing around ❤️

I love my squad so much. I miss them. 😭

Chinese dramas always do this to me, which is great. I start out hating certain characters and end up loving them.

Yes, I personally prefer the relationships between characters too in C-Dramas. These relationships grow overtime and you become attached to them.

I’ll be honest. At first I thought she was a Japanese spy because of her suspicious amnesia and habit of recording details about people and photos of their faces… Nope, she was just a sweet amnesiac flower girl, exactly the kind of girl to make the academy bully turn into a teddy bear.
