Beanie level: The Goblin’s underpants

The significance of this moment was lost on me the first time I watched it. It’s what makes rewatching #TheUntamed a pleasure. You get to discover and rediscover things. 😊 #TheUntamed

    Best wrist grab ever!!! 🤣

I hate wrist/arm grabs, but I totally love the wrist grabs in this drama 😍

I wonder if it is because in addition to how it is fitting and deeply moving to the context of the story, the fact that in this drama we have two male leads and that greatly diminishes the gender power imbalance that is often a trigger for women viewers like me.

        6
        2

That’s exactly it for me. When a guy does it to a woman it’s typically a very dominate and possessive move. I got pissed in Hotel Del Luna where you have this super powerful woman and her wrist is still getting grabbed by the man.

But when the gender norms are twisted like in this drama then I find it sexy (or in this scene it was beautiful).

But but.. Wangji is gentle.. he would never hurt.. lets call it ‘wrist embrace’ and not grab please.

He can be rough when he want to be. WWX would attest to this, not that he minds. 😉🤭

Nope. Not over it yet. At least, not anytime soon. 😅
Mo Dao Zu Shi (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) and Chen Qing Ling (The Untamed) fans are very lucky in that we can enjoy the story in so many ways. I’m currently on Chapter 85 of the novel. After reading the novel, I’m planning to watch the audio drama then the donghua (animé) and then read the manhua (graphic novel). My fujoshi heart is full! 🤭
Thanks for throwing this bunny so many carrots, @kimbapnoona, @jenmole and @giegie0384! 🐰

The viewership ratings and director’s comments make me sad. But you do need to have certain experiences to better appreciate this drama. I hope he won’t feel disheartened in telling stories he wants to tell just because the audience for it is few. Praying more people will discover this show in the future! #BeMelodramatic #MeloSuitsMe

Eventhough the ratings were not high, I usually see Melo articles trending after it airs. As of writing this article is rank 11:
    https://n.news.naver.com/entertain/ranking/article/076/0003465853
Interestingly most comments are from 30-49yo and 83% of commenters are female.

Fighting director/writer, cast and crew for their future projects!!

I am not yet thirty, but my friend calls me an old woman, guess I relate very well to these women, I even related to grannies in a show and my best friend is a 50 year old ahjussi, I think the director is also like that but most of the people are not like this, I found out to my horror and he as well, poor him. But he will figure it out, but I hope he makes more such shows for people like us. I can watch a lot more.

I’m a college student and always go back to the drama every week for the characters. For younger viewers it must come down to taste.

It’s been a week and I still cant let go. Didn’t help that me and my mom were gushing back and forth to each other over text about the drama today, and giggling over gifts and videos yesterday. And now we have plans to rewatch it together (we had watched it separately the first time) 😅 this drama will take a long time letting go.

          I need a daughter.

My husband took a glance at my screen and gasped in horror – You’re watching this??? Men in long tresses and robes, flying around, playing flute. He will never get it.

My stepmom and I were gushing about Ashes of Love during breakfast and my dad told us off, not to talk about it and were both shocked and then laughed him off. Haha

My husband watches certain types of Asian or Chinese movies with me. Recently we enjoyed Zhang Yimou’s Shadow, a fusion wuxia but no pretty boys. He’d find WWX and LZ too ‘feminine’

I’m going to try and get my little brother to watch with us. He enjoys dramas here and there, especially the romantic ones, but he’s not as huge into dramas as me and my mom. But most of my family just deal with mine and my moms Asian drama obsession at this point.

            0

          @trinpie Ain’t your little brother cute 😀

Blast my bad memory but somehow I had this idea that you live in Asia or you’re Asian – you mentioned quite a few C dramas. Because I wonder if your family don’t get your drama obsession in general or is it because it’s Asian dramas.

Ya, my brother is adorable. He is such a romantic and gets so giddy over the sweet romantic dramas.

I’m American and am as pasty white as they come. I just love kdramas and cdramas and managed to pull my mom and lil’ bro into my obsession 😅

Haha…who says men or boys can’t like romantic dramas?

Thanks for answering my question. I may be generalising but men probably don’t watch dramas as much as women do and if they do, I got this feeling that they don’t usually venture outside their own. An Asian man would have been exposed to American TV because those have been around for the longest time but I can’t see an American man watching a Korean or Chinese drama.

@outofthisworld He was almost exclusively raised with a mom and 3 sisters so he is not your typical ‘manly’ man. And me and my sisters are very against sexism, racism, homophobia, etc and helped install these same thoughts into him while he was growing up (I’m 11 years older then him). And the end result is a much more open-minded person who isn’t ashamed to like what most American men typically refer to as ‘girly’. But we both watched our first kdrama together and became addicted together (Boys over Flowers). We locked ourselves in a bedroom and binge watched it over a single weekend haha. I just continued to remain more addicted then him. Every other weekend me and my mom get together to binge watch dramas together and he will watch with us like every other drama.

            @trinpie

Thanks for sharing! You make me envious. My sister is 11 years older than me and we never watched anything together, maybe one or two movie. Growing up, we were just at different stages of our lives. But you just showed that it’s possible. I did watch dramas with my late mother and it was quite fun. We didn’t spazz over guys because when I was growing up, those dramas she watched didn’t have any good looking actors or at least I didn’t find them attractive! We did do a lot of hair tearing and cursing at the villains because many of the dramas were makjang. The stories were so formulaic but still addictive.

He has such a baby face–very structured and chiseled, but still baby face– that it’s hard to believe that he’s older than Yang Zi XD Can’t wait for their drama next year

Outside of Wei Ying and Lan Zhan’s relationship, their relationship was my favorite. She was one of the few who never believed WWX could be the evil person everyone said he was. I was worried she would blame him for her husband but she never once blamed him and still protected him. 💔

She’s such a mom. That flashback to their early days made me cry so hard.

Her mom hates him so technically she was his surrogate mother since they found him. She raised him with her dad. 🥺💔

Eun-Jung’s scene broke my heart. I can relate with her situation and her struggle. For me, it was my mom. It\’s hard when you suddenly find yourself not knowing who you are without that person in your life. It takes a while and it can be really painful but it does get easier and it’s a great opportunity to discover who you really are as an individual. This show is a gem! ❤️ #BeMelodramatic #MeloSuitsMe
