We seldom ever talked
But you were always trying
I was filled with hate and resentment
Because Dad, you were seldom ever right
But now you’ve passed away
I feel as if my heart has caved
I don’t know how to feel
Because you were never completely bad
And you did love me, just as I loved you
But then you died in my arms
It was just a matter of seconds
I feel so incomplete
I feel so ashamed of myself
I wish I were a better person
I wish I’d made more of an effort
I feel like the world’s biggest jackass
If I could rewind time
We could go back to the happy days
Where you were telling me weird stories
And I loved you more than anything else

Love,
February

I…strangely miss Wondeukie and Hong Shim after watching The Crowned Clown. 100 Days My Husband had unexpected pathos even in its slapstick comedy. #D.Odidgreat

I think I’m in trouble; I kinda ship a$$hole king with the queen in The Crowned Clown. Does this count as SLS? I’m confused.
PS: The moment she turned away from his kiss made my heart ache. Yup. Gone.

I was done with him when he had his little brother murdered.

    3
    2

But I don’t think he ordered the murder of his brother. I think we’ll find out that he was betrayed by someone he thought he could trust, and that is why he went even more cray cray after the brother died. He literally cannot trust anyone.

      5
      2

I don’t think he ordered his brother’s murder either. But I do think he displayed several instances of very disturbing domestic violence against women and girls. I was feeling a bit of sympathy for him – isolated, alone, unable to trust anybody – until those things happened. The porridge incident was particularly cruel.

        5
        2

Yeah, that. :/ Is there no chance of redeeming qualities for this one, then? Sigh… πŸ™
Plus, what was he doing a blood ritual in ep. 2? What’s his deal anyway…I wonder if he’ll ever be able to collect all his marbles…

          3
          4

Agreed, I can’t imagine an arc of redemption for him. I get that a lifetime of abuse, entitlement, and isolation can warp even the strongest, but turning around and committing the acts of cruelty he does on the regular, nope man, you don’t get a woe is me pass when you do that.

            2
            0

@egads I totally get what drove him mad. I think all of these Kings would have been certifiable. I don’t think it’s possible to stay sane in this kind of environment, especially if you’ve been in it from birth. It’s the utter isolation that does it. You can’t trust anybody but HAVE to trust somebody at some stage and then get backstabbed and betrayed. At the same time you’re told you have absolute power and nobody stops you from doing anything – on a personal level anyway.

But understanding how he became so cray cray doesn’t mean he gets a pass. On a lesser note, this is my problem with how people talk about Seho in Boksoo. Knowing why he’s the way he is doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be punished for what he’s done.

            2
            0

@leetennant Seho gets no pass from me. He seems like a sociopath. I hope I’m wrong and he’s redeemed. This cray cray king seems beyond hope already.

            2
            0

We like to call him King Cray Cray, but really he has legitimate mental illness and drug abuse issues. He is still ultimately responsible for the things he does, but it makes me sympathize with him, especially because Jingu gives him just enough humanity that I can’t give up on him totally.

So I do want a redemption arc for him. I want him to become a decent king. He needs to be humbled to the dirt, though, and needs to make what amends he can for what he’s done. If he earns it, I’m all aboard that train.

            5
            0

Still…wouldn’t it be nice if he gets a nice redemption arc? Did you watch the movie? How does it end?

          2
          0

Even if he didn’t order the murder, he really didn’t show his brother empathy in the opening scenes either.

        0

Yeah, that was a mood killer. But according to princess’s stories he used to be a total sweetie. I wonder what happened with Royal Dad to make him so pissy and resentful.

      4
      0

That is happening to me in The Last Empress. I kinda ship Hyuk and Sunny 🙈. But Hyuk is cray2, coffee-hyuk is a cutie and i’m just confused why is he so endearing despite his wrongdoings. Ottttokkkeee~

Does When We Were Young 2018 has a conventional happy ending? Please help.

If the writer thinks that kiss was anywhere NEAR romantic, then she’s high. I find the romance in MoA so iffy and disgusting that I feel myself disassociating whenever HeeJu appears on the screen!

7
7

Yeah I don’t feel like this could be anywhere near a healthy relationship. Yoo Jin Woo is way too messed up, even before this game stuff happened. And Jung Hee Joo is too naive. But I don’t expect a show like this to promote healthy relationships; it’s not about that.

    1
    2

It’s almost like HJ has forgotten about SeJoo. He is her brother. Yeah she seems to have tried looking into his disappearance but not enough! That should take precedence over any budding romantic feeling she may have been developing.

      3
      1

At this point, her character has no other value than being Se Ju’s noona and the slapstick candy romantic interest. What a shame.

        1
        0

This show should not have had romance in the first place. Maybe friendship or general acquaintanceship or maybe a sibling-like camaraderie could have been better…

      1
      1

True this is one of the shows where you don’t really need romance. And if there was some, it should have been more organically done that what we are getting. Just a friends in sorrow kind dynamic would have worked just as well if not better.

        0
        0

If JW couldnt think straight because of the game. I don’t know what took over HJ’s brain. Clearly she can see the man has issues, she doesn’t even know him all that much instead of his name. And then he rambles to her about his lack of family. And then suddenly, we have to be together?! Errrr.

HJ, you could do better than alcoholic JW who is addicted to the game. JW, sort out your addictions first before jumping into any romance.

    2
    1

She should have pushed him AWAY. He was telling her to PROVE that she BELIEVED IN HIS INSANITY BY KISSING HER AND SHE WAS ALL FOR IT. I hate this FL so much.

Never thought I’d say this about romance but ep 11 preview gave me severe heebie jeebies. At this point I just wish Hee Ju would disappear.
Also, can we have more Chanyeollie/Seju, please? >.<

Maybe Jin Woo turned into a zombie and is about to eat her brains? That would explain her reaction.

Can someone please make a drama about the President of a K-Pop Boyband Fanclub and how she and her minions take down an evil company by slowly buying out the stocks and saving their Idols from their slave-contracts and tyranny? I heard SuJu fans actually did that… #Inspired-by-the-EXO-comeback #SM-sucks

14

I heard ELF buys SM’s stocks… But some ELF regret it coz then the fans prevent Kang In and that Suju’s member (sorry, I forgot his name) who got married and maybe Henry?? to comeback with Suju… I don’t know if it’s true or not. I know Kang In has several DUI problems… But I am not sure if ELF does prevent a married member to join Suju again..

#100DaysMyPrince | So, this is how it SHOULD HAVE ENDED:
Yul and Yi Suh have a grand wedding. The King is especially happy at watching Yul be so smitten. Enuch Yang is in happy tears because FINALLY all those nasty rumors are gong to go away! The wedding night is charged with so much tension and anticipation and we fade to black after Yul pulls the first string of Yi Suh’s wedding hanbok loose. Every minister in court is struck dumb at the knowledge that the perpetually uncomfortable virgin crown prince now visits the crown princesses chambers every single night. No one is surprised when Yi Suh falls pregnant within a few months. However, the pregnancy is hard and many ministers mock her for being too old, which always makes Yul’s hackles rise. As always, he spends his nights with Yi Suh, rubbing her belly, reading their baby Elementary Learning, and just being there for her. She’s always grateful for his company, and sometimes even makes him get food for her when the munchies hit. The morning sickness is making her gaunt, but she enjoys the heavy burden in her belly, and the way Yul’s eye go all soft when he stares at her.
The delivery is rough, and for a few agonizing moments, they aren’t sure if Yi Suh would make it – but she does. They have two adorable twins – a boy and a girl. The boy is just as naughty and undisciplined as Yul used to be in the past, and the girl is the apple of Yul’s eye. He spoils them both rotten, and Yi Suh always grumbles at having to play the bad cop. A few years down the road, Yi Suh gets pregnant again. It’s totally unplanned, but not unwelcome. This time though, the pregnancy is a breeze and they end up welcoming another little girl. Yul is over the moon, and Yi Suh especially loves the involuntary upward curl of his lips every time he gazes at the new baby. Life is not perfect – there’s still the nasty court to run, and once in a while some Minster does bring Yi Suh’s pedigree into question, but they have each other and their three beautiful children, so they don’t mind that much.

Same here. The last 2 eps was the weakest. I’m disappointed enough to call it lazy and lame.

        5

What’s with the inability of drama’s to have decent endings? The whole noble idiocy plotline was a needless time killer. But your ending is fabulous. Why, oh, why couldn’t we have instead gotten this ending.

    3
    1

I think it’s a time constraint issue…as if they rush the production at the end and the plot suffers…it happens too many times in dramas to be a coincidence -.-

This time the writing was good (for 14 episodes at least), imo, and quite consistent…but the ending was flat, like she didn’t even try πŸ™

      0
      2

It was however cute, of not fully living up to the potential. Plus the directing kinda ruined the consistency of the plot…

        0
        0

It was a pre-produced drama (filming wrapped up in early September) so it didn’t the time constraint like those dramas produced under the live shoot system. So the flat final episodes was entirely due to the lack of creativity by the writer.

        0
        1

I know it was pre-produced…but the writer(s) still wrote it in real time (?) while the filming was on-going, and the filming itself had a deadline i’m sure πŸ™‚

And I agree with your comment on the writer’s creativity…but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they have more pressure towards the end of the drama compared to the first episodes…that’s what I’m saying πŸ˜‰

Anyways, this is just something I’ve been thinking about, because so many good dramas end up with a disappointing finale, and I can’t explain this “phenomenon” to myself! XD

          1
          3

I think writers are under pressure to still keep the conflict “ongoing” even if it’s the end. Some have that notion that needs to be a ‘problem’ that drives the drama, even if that problem doesn’t make any sense or is contrived. Maybe it’s the way writers see their work as well – the end they come up with makes sense in their head but to viewers it’s unsatisfactory

            2
            0

            @brownieoholic

            Yeah, that’s true too!
I think this episode’s case of noble idiocy is an example of that! 🙈

            0
            0

Don’t they realize we don’t want “ongoing” conflict in our final episodes, we want fan service and lots of it (hehehe)!
