Boring blog stuff

boring-blog-stuff

Just a few notes about blog format. Many of you may not even notice any changes, but for those who do: Categories and page navigation were getting messy and driving me batty, so I did some sprucing up. The “categories” list on the right sidebar is now streamlined. I’m not quite sure what the official Wordpress distinction is between “categories” and “tags,” but I’m using both: each post will be listed under one category, then tagged with all relevant keywords. For a full list, you can refer to the tag index page (link under “navigation” in left sidebar).

I’ve also decided to try limiting my song posts, to lighten some of the server load. I’ll still be posting songs daily (or almost daily), but they’ll be attached to recap and review posts only. Otherwise I fear doing bad things to my server, and what did it ever do to me? We’ll see how that goes for now.

All right! Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Sank yoo!

Gawker-ed

Hm, eeenteresting…

I just spotted a new incoming link, and clicked in mild curiosity. To my surprise, despite being a blog I hadn’t heard of, it was a familiar template to anyone who reads any of the monster juggernaut-y blogs run by Gawker Media (such as Lifehacker, Gizmodo, Consumerist, Jezebel, or its flagship, Gawker).

Turns out it’s the newest Gawker blog, a sci-fi centered site that launched just today, io9.com.

So, what could io9 possibly want in a Dramabeans post??

Here, I’ll give you a moment to guess.

What do Dramabeans and io9 have in common?

Poll results for the curious

Since a few of you were curious about poll results, here they are (the rest beyond the jump), arranged in descending order of votes cast.

I expected Coffee Prince to lead the pack, but I was still a bit surprised at the extent of its lead. Therefore I find it more interesting to see not only who won but how all the OTHER dramas fared in relation to one another.

Take my Blog Reader Survey!

You know you wanna.

I know you love polls and surveys — a whole bunch of you voted for 2007’s top drama. (Minus one vote for me.)

Anyway, I’ve been experimenting with advertising on this blog, some more successful than others, and apparently this survey will be eminently useful to would-be sponsors. So help a sista out and answer a few questions! (Note: SKIPPING QUESTIONS IS PERFECTLY FINE.)

Oooh, exciting!

SONG OF THE DAY

Gino Paoli - “Senza fine” is one of my favorite songs ever. The song is an Italian classic, but I first came upon it in the wonderful, poignant film My Life Without Me (or Mi Vida Sin Mi, so titled because its director, Isabel Coixet, is Spanish although the film itself is English-language). Just four words to sell you: MARK RUFFALO! SARAH POLLEY! [ zShare download ]

“Soulmate” Song List Posted

I was looking through some of my files today, and came across this list of songs for the series Soulmate, sorted by episode. (I’d found it compiled on a Korean site when first watching the drama, and translated the list.) Those of you who’ve been reading this site for a while know how much I ADORE SOULMATE. Until Flowers For My Life came along earlier this year, it was my favorite all-time drama; now they both share that spot.

Soulmate is also a series that makes serious use of its music; Coffee Prince doesn’t hold a candle to it. CP uses music very well, but it’s rarely a story point; Soulmate lives and breathes music. Songs are woven into the series not only as well-timed background music, but thematically as well. Each episode is, furthermore, titled after a song that is used at some point (with some significance) in the series.

Once again: Here’s the complete SOULMATE UNOFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK LISTING.
