LOL. They really did it! Dokko Jin did say that he’d move in on Seung-gi’s CF territory if he didn’t help get Gu Ae-jung on Steel Heart, and now it looks like he’ll be sharing the limelight (and hugs!) as a result. Capitalizing on the meta brilliance of the Hong Sisters’ drama Best Love, Samsung has actually brought Cha Seung-won onboard to guest star in one of Lee Seung-gi‘s refrigerator CFs. (He’s their main brand model, so he has an entire series of these.) There’s so much drama-meta-meets-fiction-meets-reality that I don’t know what’s what, but it cracks me up.

…and not just from his drama-loving noonas. (Although that’s a gimme, isn’t it? The boy is adorable. And talented. Also hot.)

Kim Soo-hyun is currently off being awesome in his drama series Dream High, the totally-not-that-bad-at-all-and-in-fact-kind-if-starting-to-rock high school series on KBS that stars him as a musically gifted student at an idol-cultivating battlefield factory school. Thanks to the drama’s popularity and Kim’s performance as a heart-tuggingly sweet country bumpkin, he’s experiencing a fresh wave of interest, which is great for his career but also for his bank account. Successful dramas equal increased CF contracts, and we can expect a lot more of him in the very near future — according to advertisers, he’s currently the top pick for CF offers.

In the 2011 Asia Model Awards on January 21, he was also the winner for its CF Model category and is being called a “twentysomething icon” in the CF world. I’d say he’s not a bad twentysomething icon in the regular world, either.

Dream High is noteworthy in that a large portion of its main cast consists of pretty idol faces, which is risky move given the frequently negative evaluations of idols in acting roles. I’d say the idols are hanging in there, acting-wise (the performances range from shaky to fairly decent), but I’m thankful that they did cast one serious actor — even if he hardly looks serious at all when he’s oh-so-hilariously busting out the dance moves and singing in his goofy way. Oh, Sam-dong. Never change.

I love when real-life couples act as couples in acting projects; that meta awareness adds just a little something extra to the cute. Such is the case with this couple, who are not only adorable together but talented to boot — Gong Hyo-jin (Pasta) and Ryu Seung-beom (No Mercy) — and who have teamed up to endorse a cell phone.

The product is a Motorola brand smart phone, Motorola Defy. I guess that is meant to sound cool, but to me it just sounds like an imperative, and I’m already wary of smart phones being, well, too smart. I don’t need you to add defiance to my phone’s list of capabilities. Just sayin’.

Apparently this latest tough-guy shoot for Chun Jung-myung is a “180 degree transformation” for him… although we saw him being all tough and macho in this Vogue spread not terribly long ago, which was itself supposed to be another 180 degree turn from his previous smiley, pleasant image. So 180 degrees + 180 degrees = change? And here I thought 360 got ya back to the beginning. Even if I do suck at math.

I’ve never seen anyone dressed so well to do laundry, but hey, I suppose a couple in their last wearable clothes isn’t really going to sell high-end washing machines. Although, now that I think about it, beautiful couple down to nothing but their last socks and underwear? That might actually make me sit through a commercial.

Ahem. Anyway, actress Han Ga-in (Bad Guy, grumble grumble) poses for her first CF with husband Yeon Jung-hoon (East of Eden, also grumble grumble). Heh, at least they both starred in dramas of equally epic badness. No. I take that back. Bad Guy trumps East of Eden. Bad Guy trumps everything in the badness category. That is just adorable. Ever since almost-17-year-old Yoo Seung-ho came on the scene, he has been called “Little So Ji-sub” because of his physical resemblance to the 32-year-old film and drama actor. Now Yoo and So Ji-sub are appearing together in a CF, two years after first appearing in a music video together.

The two actors will endorse a kimchi refrigerator called Dimchae. And what better way to appeal to the housewives, ajummas, and noonas than with perennial favorite So and noona-killer Yoo?

Well, it’s not a new acting project, but I’ll take my Won Bin (Mother) where I can get him. He is currently modeling fashions for casual clothing brand Hang Ten Korea, as seen in these recently released photos for the company’s summer line. This is his second campaign with them, as well as for his modeling partner Hong In-young, a relatively new actress who was in last year’s Iron Empress. (The two shot their first campaign together in the spring.)

A new video has been released of actress Han Ga-in recording a CM song (for a commercial), along with Horan and Winterplay’s Hye-won, all of whom are brand models for the Hauzen brand of products from Samsung. Though it’s not technically a debut as singer, this is the first time Han Ga-in has sung and recorded a song.

You may recall Han Ga-in’s previous CF for a Hauzen washing machine, which featured Winterplay’s Bubble Song. They’re again promoting the Bubble line with this trio, and netizens have dubbed the following the “Bubble Eco Song.”

Lee Min-jung and Jung Kyung-ho, who play an adorable couple on the weekend family drama Smile, have also been named the new brand models for a car their characters help design in the drama, the Matiz Creative from GM Daewoo. The two attended a launching event on February 24 where they were officially revealed as the new models. Named as honorary employees of the company, both also received a car.
