Confirmed: Into the Gunfire [포화 속으로], which is set to begin filming shortly, has cast Cha Seung-won (City Hall) as a North Korean officer and Kim Seung-woo (IRIS) as his South Korean counterpart.

As previously announced, the Korean War film formerly known as 71 (and originally starring Kim Bum and Yoo Seung-ho) has been reworked by a new production company and given a new cast, starring Kwon Sang-woo and TOP as student soldiers who defend their home from invading North Korean soldiers.

The casting of two of its stars (TOP and Kim Seung-woo) makes sense given that the new production company, Taewon Entertainment, is also behind IRIS. They’re following that 20 billion won blockbuster spy hit with another blockbuster that, with Gunfire’s 12 billion won budget, promises to be one of next year’s largest-scale action films.

Into the Gunfire will begin shooting on November 25, shortly after Cha Seung-won wraps filming on his Lee Jun-ik period piece, Like The Moon Escapes From Clouds.

Cha Seung-won (City Hall) and Song Yoon-ah (On Air) have a new thriller coming out titled Secret [시크릿], which has just announced its release date as December 3. The film comes courtesy of the writer-director behind the successful 2007 thriller Seven Days, which starred Lost’s Kim Yun-jin and A Million’s Park Hee-soon.

The secret of the film’s title refers to Cha Seung-won’s desperate actions as a detective who covers up the evidence of a murder left by his wife (Song Yoon-ah). The movie’s poster, above, shows the detective upon the discovery of the evidence at the crime scene. He becomes torn between wanting to save his wife from suspicion and his conscience.
Han Ji-hye’s next role takes her back to Joseon Korea, and for her role as a famous gisaeng, has begun taking a variety of classes. As gisaeng entertainers were often skilled in the arts of dance and music, her education includes classes in the gayageum (a stringed lute, the same instrument Honey Lee is known for playing) and singing in verse.

Han Ji-hye has mostly been known for acting in dramas (East of Eden, Likable or Not), but this project is the latest movie from director Lee Jun-ik (You’re Far Away, King and the Clown), called Like the Moon Escaping from Clouds [그르믈 버서난 달처럼, also written 구름을 벗어난 달처럼]. It’s an action-fighting period film based on a Park Heung-ryong manhwa of the same name and boasts quite an impressive cast list: In addition to the previously announced Hwang Jung-min it has added City Hall’s Cha Seung-won and Accidental Couple’s young Baek Sung-hyun. (Looks like Uhm Tae-woong and Ryu Seung-beom are out.)
