And so we must bid farewell to the cast who has slowly made a home into our hearts. We still get a bit of the angst but the show quickly wraps up those loose ends and delivers much of the long-awaited Cute late in the game. Better late than never, I say. It almost makes you want to forget that the middle half ever existed given how adorable it is now.

Looking at the buffet table of 2012, I’m left in awe at the vast array of possible selections before me. The sheer number of choices is growing every year and I feel like I have to taste-test the premiere and make a quick decision of whether to keep digging in or move on. Sometimes you don’t just know for sure until you’re left with the aftertaste.

And because some dramas that fall within the same genre can have unique flavors, I’m using a Taste O’Meter to assess this year’s dramas. Was it sweet, sour, bitter, salty, or savory? Maybe more than one?

2012 was certainly a mixed bag: I saw plenty of action dramas and then I saw fluffy dramas that made no sense. There were dramas I loved, dramas that I liked enough, and then dramas that I hated. It was a tough year for me, and I felt I had bad luck in choosing which dramas to watch this year. But it helps to appreciate all the dramas – good or bad – because there are still plenty of life lessons to be learned from them.

One of my goals for this year was to watch a drama from every letter of the alphabet – HA! Like that really happened. But in the hopes that I did, the reviews will be in alphabetical order… with life lessons in between.

It’s time for classic misunderstandings to come about. We’re heading back to melodrama territory again, which isn’t this drama’s strength. However this time we get to see more of Kang-hwi’s sad childhood and the romance heat up – both plot points that I feel the drama does well, at least.

If the previous episode was all about the hair, this episode is about the bromance and people who stand up for themselves. I’ve never been so proud of some of our characters who give their frank two cents to the Man and face the battlefield head-on. Even as some dramatic pieces start to wedge itself into the Cute, it isn’t enough to offset the golden moments of this series.

Say goodbye to the hair! There’s nothing more important than saying adieu to the hairstyle that has turned off millions. It’s all anyone seems to talk about in the comments anyways, so hopefully the marked improvement on Man-ok’s hairstyle will lessen the hate. Oh – there’s plenty of cute moments too. But really - it’s all about the haiiiirrr!

Lots of development for our main couple and yes, Tae-ik can actually smile. A few days overseas can certainly do wonders as the boys prep for the battlefield. The war is just over the horizon now and I’m afraid that we won’t see this beautiful smile for much longer.

Kang-hwi lies in bed, straining his eyes towards the ceiling. He mulls over the doctor’s warning about his deteriorating vision and Lee Joon’s promise of a comeback before he heads out.

Lee Joon becomes quite the jackass in this episode with all his flip-flopping – not like he wasn’t already. But we get a few more revelations about Tae-ik, and a little bit of cute. The cute moments between him and Man-ok are necessary, because a whole lotta drama is to come. Especially when our main trio is given crying scenes – and they deliver.
