We are finally making progress with the characters! As it is for most of you readers, the more fun parts of the episodes are when the F5 are actually outside of class. This episode allowed the watcher to be able to see more of outside-of-class interactions and helped the characters to mature.

Episode 5 was somewhat of an awkward cram for me; I tried to fit as much as I could that I felt was necessary for the storyline to be understandable. As a result, I felt it came off rather bland and as a simple rehashing. Episode 6 gets past these necessary add-ons, so we get some meat here.

I’m still not sure which drama I’m going to keep following on Mondays and Tuesdays. It’s tough, because they’re all in good-but-not-great territory for me, which makes it hard to just pick one to stick with. Despite God of Study‘s growing lead in the ratings, I still find it a little difficult to get through episodes. Half of it is enjoyable and sweet, but when it drags, it really drags. The entire cast of teachers is cartoonish and unfunny, so I’d rather not spend so much time on them, and I still can’t warm up to Seok-ho (Kim Su-ro). The best part of the drama has always been about the kids, so when they’re on, I’m entertained. But only when they’re on.

God of Study OST – “Because I’m Weary” by Ernest. Come to think of it, this song alone may well account for half the drama’s entire appeal (for me). Even though I did spend the first few episodes wondering frustratedly, “Because I’m really what?!” [ Download ]

Her starring role in the hit TV series God of Study has raised the profile of 17-year-old Go Ah-sung, and now she’s also got a fashion spread featured in the upcoming February Elle Girl magazine. The concept for the shoot, according to the staff, was to show a more grown-up image to the actress, which contrasts to her image as a child star from films like The Host, A Bittersweet Life, and Radio Days.

While watching the batch of Monday-Tuesday second episodes, God of Study was hovering on my “to-drop” list. Frankly, I probably had the highest hopes for this drama, and while I found things be hopeful about in Episode 1, it was contingent upon factors that weren’t quite materializing in Episode 2.

But just as I was thinking to myself that this was turning out to be a boring dud, things picked up. And even though this isn’t my favorite of the four Monday-Tuesday shows, it’s the only one that made me cry. For that alone, I’ve got to stick around another week, right?

KBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama God of Study, which features a young cast of underperforming students at a last-place high school, has released its official promos. Featured are Kim Su-ro and Bae Doo-na playing teachers, while the five motley youngsters who join in a special college-prep class are, from left to right in the above poster, Lee Chan-ho, Ji-yeon, Yoo Seung-ho, Go Ah-sung, and Lee Hyun-woo.
