Who Are You: Episode 9
Fun fun fun. The series is getting more interesting, I think. Or maybe that’s just because I’m a fool for romantic developments, which is a big theme in today’s episode. SONG OF THE DAY G.O.D. – “모르죠” (Don’t know). Can’t have a Yoon Kye Sang drama and not post a G.O.D. song, right? This one’s... More »

Who Are You: Episode 8
My big question heading into Who Are You? was whether the handling of the body-possession of Seung Hyo would create weird Electra complex moments for Young In. Thus far I’m glad to report that I haven’t found the developing Young In–Seung Hyo relationship to be creepy; and in fact Episode 8 brings more opportunities for... More »

Who Are You: Episode 7
The rules are changing! The series is still funny and enjoyable, but now we get more into the mystery aspect. Plus, Seung Hyo’s hard, cold exterior starts softening, which continues through Episode 8. Aw. Perhaps proportionally, Yoon Kye Sang’s really growing on me too, not just as an actor but as fangirl eye candy. And... More »

Who Are You: Episodes 5 & 6
Who Are You? continues to be more endearing than expected. It’s one of those dramas I didn’t think I’d really love — just something to watch casually for lack of something better — but I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed the latest episodes. I did try to go back and watch more of On... More »

Who Are You: Episodes 3 & 4
Jin Yi Han. Jin Yi Han. Jin Yi Han. Jin Yi Han. Jin Yi Han. Okay, the rational part of me fully recognizes that Jin Yi Han the actor is much different than his character (the questionably motived — is that a word? sure why not — art gallery employee, spoiled manboy Shin Jae Ha).... More »

Who Are You: Episodes 1 & 2
MBC’s new drama Who Are You? will probably not be a huge hit — On Air will easily claim that timeslot — and I doubt it carries the potential to join the ranks of the exceptional. The conceit is pretty clear — body-switching, and the hilarity that ensues — like a mix of Big, Ghost,... More »

New midweek shows “On Air,” “Who Are You?”
Last week saw the finales of both of Hong Gil Dong‘s competitors — New Heart crescendoed to its end with a whopping 33% rating, while Bulhandang [Con Man] limped to the finish line with a paltry 5%. (Hong Gil Dong has dropped a point or two, but is holding relatively stable in the 13%-15% range.... More »

Graduation day
Go Ara It’s graduation season in Korea, and as with everything else, stars always attract the most attention. Fifteen-year-old So Hee of the teen pop group Wonder Girls has just graduated from middle school (ceremony was held on the 15th) — MIDDLE SCHOOL — which just tinges the group’s exaggerated flirtiness and coquetry with unsavory... Is celebrity education really education?
(Singer-actor Eugene) Shortly after posting this entry about Tim’s educational background, I saw the following (edited) transcription of the “Star News report” (you can watch the video clip of the segment at that link as well), which discusses celebrities and the way in which they gain admissions to universities in Korea. It’s a topic that... More »
