Iron Man: Episode 2
by | September 15, 2014 | 77 Comments
I know this may sound surprising, but just hear me out: Maybe Iron Man isn’t actually batshit insane. Maybe it’s surprisingly funny. Maybe I even liked it? But the drama did commit a cardinal sin in starting with a ridiculous (and worse, impenetrable) premiere episode when it really should’ve just kicked off with Episode 2,... More »

Why does a man covered in knives need a bodyguard, you might ask? It’s a good question. Maybe he’s not so good at controlling his new knife-sprouting abilities and needs a babysitter? Han Jung-soo has joined the cast of KBS’s new supernatural drama Iron Man, where he’ll play Lee Dong-wook’s faithful secretary-bodyguard who goes everywhere... More »

So adorable. It’s finale week for mystery fusion sageuk Arang and the Magistrate (*sniff, sniff*), so I thought a nice detour backstage would help us all prepare to say goodbye. Unless you’d like to remain in denial; denial’s not so bad. Here’s a boatload of stills from the set of the show, with everyone from... More »

Arang and the Magistrate: Episode 1
by | August 15, 2012 | 137 Comments
Dangnabbit, this show is so silly, and so outrageous, but so my kind of thing. I mean, you have to go in knowing it’s balls-out insane. There are ghosts and reapers and kings of heaven and hell. But if you can buy into the mythology (or actively love worlds with dense mythologies like I do)... More »

Introduction to the mythical world of Arang and the Magistrate
by | August 9, 2012 | 71 Comments
Purrrrty. Well the Special Episode for Arang and the Magistrate wasn’t anything to write home about in and of itself, but the glimpses of the drama to come got me really excited. The hour-long special that aired a week before the drama’s premiere was mostly a collection of behind-the-scenes material with some character introductions and... More »

What a pretty heavenly king Yoo Seung-ho makes — as if we doubted he would, especially with his lustrous Barbie hair in Warrior Baek Dong-soo. But he ups things one step with his latest role (it’s an extended guest spot) in Arang and the Magistrate, where he plays the Great Jade Emperor. The promos and... More »

Poseidon: Episode 1

Take one part NCIS, one part Baywatch, one part Top Gun, one part k-pop music video, and mix it all up with some tragic-revenge and fall-from-glory themes. Are you wondering how on earth all that coalesces into a coherent, action-packed, thrilling hour of television? Answer: It doesn’t. Sadly, Poseidon falls into the category of Tries... More »

Poseidon releases posters
by | September 14, 2011 | 88 Comments
Upcoming maritime police drama Poseidon, aka Baywatch-meets-Cops, has released its posters. They decided on the super serious vibe, which I think was a mistake in the boring direction, but at least the faces are damned pretty. I’m pretty sure it’s the same font as Athena too, which is a step in the wrong direction, association-wise.... More »
