Pasta: Episode 3

This was a cute episode, if a little low-key, which I suppose is Pasta’s appeal — the light vibe and its realistic, amusing depiction of relationships.

Gong Hyo-jin is really what makes this drama work for me. Lee Seon-kyun is, of course, very entertaining as the boss from hell, and it wouldn’t work so well without him. But it’s Gong’s natural, empathetic reading of her character that has me tuning in for more.

Pasta: Episode 1

Ratings update, regarding the new dramas’ second episodes: The numbers shifted slightly, but as you can see, the race remains tight. Pasta now stands at 15.1%. God of Study moved upward with 15.9%, and Jejoongwon fell slightly to 14.6%. An hour before, Wish Upon a Star rose slightly to 11.3%.

Usually in a three-way race, one of the three will drop far behind, clearing the way for a two-way battle. However, this is an unusual circumstance where there’s no clear winner or loser, quality-wise. All these dramas have their appeal, which means Mondays and Tuesdays should be interesting for a while…

Pasta’s official posters released

Following the release of some preliminary promo shots, MBC’s Pasta has released its first official posters, featuring (in the order above) Gong Hyo-jin, Lee Seon-kyun, Honey Lee, and Alex.

Not much more info about the plot has been given, however, other than the general description of their work at an Italian restaurant and the contentious initial relationship between Gong Hyo-jin and Lee Seon-kyun. (Despite that, I think they look pretty cute together.) We’ll have to wait until January to find out more; Pasta takes over the timeslot from Queen Seon-deok, which ended this week.

Promo stills from MBC’s Pasta

Cute. I admit I haven’t been terribly intrigued about MBC’s new drama Pasta — it’s up against Jejoongwon and God of Study, while Chuno airs a few days later — but the promos featuring Lee Seon-kyun (Coffee Prince) and Gong Hyo-jin (Thank You) do look adorable, as does the preview clip below.

The Italian restaurant-themed drama shot its promo posters at a Kangnam restaurant on December 9. Lee Seon-kyun plays the prickly head chef, while Gong Hyo-jin is an assistant.

Honey Lee at a Neutrogena fan-signing

Ah, Honey Lee is so pretty. The classical musician, former Miss Korea, and now actress is currently the face of Neutrogena; as its brand model, she held a promotional fan-signing on July 4 as a tie-in event with their sunblock product.

You can currently watch Honey Lee acting in the role of a cool, smart lawyer in the KBS Wednesday-Thursday drama Partner (and doing a pretty good job at it, actually)
