Jang Yoon-joo has been one of Korea’s top fashion and runway models for the past eleven years, appearing in all the big name magazines and doing some international work as well.
She’s also releasing her first album as a singer. She’s not a complete newb; she’s expressed her love of music before, and contributed to tracks of other singers’ songs, like the one below for rocker Jung Jae-hyung. She also recently duetted with Lee Hana while recording a cable show, Jang Yoon-joo’s 29.
In conjunction with the album launch, Jang performed at a showcase on November 26; more pictures below the jump.

Cable channel O’live TV hosted its first Style Icon Awards on the night of October 30, and a parade of stars turned out on the “orange carpet” for the event. Held at Club Answer in the upscale Seoul neighborhood of Cheongdamdong, the event awarded select members from not only entertainment sphere to honor as icons, but also some from society and the arts.
Actor Jung Jun-ho (The Last Scandal of My Life) acted as host, and awards were handed out to stars like Rain, above (Style Icon of the Year), Jung Ryeo-won, Park Tae-hwan, Sohn Ye-jin, and more.

Rain - “사랑이라는 건” (The thing called love), from his recent 5th album, “Rainism.” I don’t love or hate the album — the third was really my favorite, and I was not impressed with anything after that — but it has a few nice tracks, like this one (I tend to prefer the songs Rain doesn’t release as singles.)

Now, this is something I’ll be looking out for: Actress Lee Hana and top model Jang Yoon-joo will be displaying their musical skills in an upcoming cable program called Jang Yoon-joo’s 29 on Mnet.
Lee appeared on Jang Yoon-joo’s 29 to converse with the model about acting, music, and marriage. They also had an impromptu duet, with Lee showing off a song she wrote and Jang performing one from her upcoming album, followed by songs by Keren Ann (”Right Now & Right Here”) and Cardigans (”Carnival”).
Lee Hana, the daughter of a songwriter, is by now well-known for her singing ability. Jang Yoon-joo, one of Korea’s most successful models and one of three model-judges of the reality show I Am A Model, is prepping her own solo album and featured her vocals on a song by musician Jung Jae-hyung, which you can listen to here.
Okay, I think I’m done posting pics of stars visiting Lee Eon’s funeral room. If more information comes to light, I’m on it, but until then we’re just going to be getting photos of grieving folks, which is probably gratuitous.
I know it sounds hypocritical for me to dislike the photos and then post them. However, I do think it’s a matter of interest — just up to a point. When it starts feeling gratuitous, I step back.

I just recently saw that Imaginasian TV just started showing the first season of Korean reality show I Am a Model, and tuned in out of curiosity. Originally aired on Korean cable channel Mnet, I Am a Model was pretty successful and has aired multiple seasons (three, I think). I never caught it, because I don’t watch Korean cable or reality/variety programs that much.
In the absence of AZN, Imaginasian’s got some decent programming (check your cable listings!), and I found myself liking I Am a Model. The episodes are subbed in English and similar to America’s Next Top Model, minus the shenanigans. If you’re like me, you watch America’s Next Top Model despite yourself — you know it’s predictable and most likely rigged and way too loaded down with exaggerated “drama.” Plus Tyra’s getting crazier and crazier, and not in a good way. But the premise is interesting, and you fast-forward through all the humdrum boring parts to get to the actual point — the photo shoots and judging. (There’s just no way to watch ANTM live, because the filler stuff will make you want to slap somebody.)
I Am a Model is less conflict and more about actual modeling (who’d'a thunk?). For that reason, it might be a dry watch for some viewers, but I liked it much more. It’s only up to the second episode so far and I know nothing about the model-contestants, but I kind of like it that way. I’d rather just see how they’re judged based on their evaluations and photo shoots.
