Add Lee Ki-woo to the list of 1981-ers who have until the end of this year to enlist in their mandatory military service. Actor Lee Ki-woo (A Star’s Lover) has two movies coming up for release, but he may not get to see them come out before he’s called to fulfill his military service. He’ll enlist in November to begin his five weeks of training and two years of service. The results of his preliminary physical exam deemed him healthy enough to qualify for Level 1 service, meaning active duty.

First, the melodrama Wedding Dress stars Song Yoon-ah as a single mother suffering from cancer and comes from director Kwon Hyun-jin of For Horowitz. Lee Ki-woo teams with Shin Hyun-joon in Family Picture

Lee Ki-woo, Shin Hyun-joon

Actors Shin Hyun-joon (Cain & Abel) and Lee Ki-woo (A Star’s Lover) are teaming up as detectives in a new movie, Family Picture [가족사진].

Although the two characters are described as having diametrically opposing personalities, Odd Couple this ain’t: The plot surrounds the kidnapping and murder of a child, and the ensuing investigation aims for a “realistic portrayal” of our world. Shin’s detective is the warm-hearted and brash one, while Lee Ki-woo’s character is driven by a sense of duty. Jeon No-min (Strongest Chil Woo) plays the father of the child, a taxi driver who becomes a suspect in the murder.

In order to portray their roles realistically, a source from the production company said that both Shin and Lee would be transforming their usually polished images to fit their characters, and are studying Chungcheon province dialect before filming begins early this month.

As much as this drama frustrates me, there’s something about it that makes me want to stick around to see the ending, even if it is mixed in with so many exasperating plot runarounds that just lead in circles. At the end of the day, this is a drama that you watch to find out plot, even if you may not enjoy the watching thereof. Plus,

Baby Lee Ki-woo

I love star baby photos. And now we get a look at the recently released ones for Lee Ki-woo, currently acting as requisite third wheel in romance drama A Star’s Lover.

These photos, uploaded onto the official Star’s Lover homepage message board, show the now-super-tall (190 cm!) actor at the age of three. I think the adult Lee Ki-woo still retains a trace of a baby face that makes him look years younger than his age (he’s a 1981-er), so it’s not hard to see him in his baby pictures.

Just to refresh your memory, here he is all growed up:
