girlfriday: The boys gather for the opening and chitchat a little, and note that Seung-gi’s lost some weight. He says it’s for his new drama. He says he’s going to be a king, and Ji-won asks if it’s a sageuk, while Jong-min gets all wrapped up in the story description. Guess at least one of his hyungs will be watching.

javabeans: Na PD introduces today’s trip by referring back to a viewer favorite, for which today will be a second part. Tae-woong immediately blurts, “Actress special!” Too bad for him that’s not it, and Ji-won asks to clarify, “Did WE enjoy it?” Ha. I like how he immediately knows that viewer enjoyment does not necessarily equal member enjoyment.

girlfriday: Seung-gi joins him and confesses that this whole eating thing felt so foreign for 1N2D, and he was concerned for the first time about how much usable footage they’d get.

javabeans: Plus, there’s the fact that his ajumma cooked everything in 2 minutes and barely spoke.

girlfriday: He repeats his earlier fear that it only means there’s something massively bad around the corner.

girlfriday: It’s one of the great mysteries of the universe. I’m trying to find a logical explanation, but I’m pretty sure there isn’t one.

girlfriday: Oh man, he’s Food Truck Ajumma’s oppa? That’s crazy. How cute to see her fangirling over someone.

Aaaaand, we FINALLY have a king. I seriously thought this drama would never secure a cast. But now the production team behind highly anticipated miniseries The King has announced that Ha Ji-won and Lee Seung-gi have been confirmed as the soon-to-be royal couple to hit the small screen this March. Looks like the king’s in for a noona romance, but considering that Seung-gi’s basically the poster boy for noona love, it only seems fitting.

Dude, what’s with this drama and its inability to confirm a cast? Upcoming MBC drama The King starring Ha Ji-won (supposedly, since that’s yet to be confirmed too) has now reportedly jumped its leading man ship to Lee Seung-gi (My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho). Am I allowed to be excited? Because I would be, but I’m not sure if I’m just going to get slapped in the face with a denial. That said, you KNOW I’m all over this if Seung-gi’s up for the lead.

EPISODE 368. Broadcast on January 8, 2012.

javabeans: The Friend Special continues! So Team Seung-gi / Su-geun get to the beach first and the flag is in sight, but the last twist is that they have to pick up their ditched teammate — Seon-kyun — and pull the flag together. And since Seon-kyun’s beppu Tae-woong is on the other team, nobody here has his phone number, or even knows what kind of car to look for. Seung-gi starts to call Tae-woong, but they decide that asking would give the rival team a hint.

girlfriday: That’s just mean. The other team has the total advantage there.

javabeans: Trying to get the number a different way, they suggest that Seo-jin start calling around to his other actor friends, literally playing telephone in the hopes that somebody will have Seon-kyun’s number. Ooh, will we get to see how Six Degrees of Lee Seon-kyun plays out?

javabeans: Photo trip, Part 2! Last week everyone got started on their “flash journeys” (? – such a weird way to term a trip) minus Seung-gi, who was busy helping Ji-won get his rainbow. I’m presuming it’s because his duck swarm happens later in the day, so now he meets with his guide and introduces the mission. They take a look from a distance and see a mass of ducks on a lake, and take the bus ride over to get their shot. On the way, the bird doctor (Dr. Han) explains that the common epithet “you bird brain” to refer to a dumb person is a misnomer, since birds can be quite smart. Apparently there are types that learn the faces of the villagers living nearby, and sound alarms when seeing a strange face. Okay, I’m not sure if that’s smart or downright creepy.

The guys wonder why, and Na PD says it’s because they’re always so tired-looking at the morning 3 am call, having only grabbed a short nap: “So I figured it would be better all around if you didn’t sleep at all.”

girlfriday: That’s SO MEAN.
