Singer-turned-actress Eugene (Three Dads One Mom) recently took a trip to San Francisco with her younger sister, and in K-entertainer style, the vacation is being broadcast for a cable special called Living Beauty: Eugene’s Makeup Diary.

With makeup being a key theme, Eugene used cosmetics to style herself after some famous faces, including the actress Olivia Hussey, who played Juliet in the 1968 Zeffirelli film version, as Hussey is someone Eugene has sometimes been said to resemble. (She really does; see photo below.)

There’s kind of a glut of Boys Before Flowers news these days, isn’t there?

On one hand, I don’t want to wear myself out and get BBF fatigue before the series is even half over, yet on the other hand, I AM interested. So my compromise: here’s a round-up of the latest news, with a spoilery bit at the very end (it’s a tiny, almost-not-even-a-spoiler type of spoiler):

• Lead actress Gu Hye-sun was recently in a minor accident: On the 28th, she was filming a diving scene and hit her head on the bottom of the pool, which wasn’t as deep as anticipated. It wasn’t a serious blow, but she was taken to the hospital for a CT scan and hospitalized on the doctor’s recommendation while waiting for test results. She is expected to return to filming on the 29th. [E Daily, All That News]
• By the way, although they’ve all been minor instances, this follows car accidents involving fellow castmates Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Joon, and even Lee Min-ho’s manager. [Daily Surprise]
• New actress Lee Shi-young (who plays Min-ji) debuted this past weekend on MBC’s variety show We Got Married as partner to Shinhwa’s Jun Jin. The Jun Jin/Lee Shi-young couple joins a few new pairings (Kim Shin-young/Shin Sung-rok and Jung Hyung-don/Tae Yeon) in an attempt to revitalize the flagging program. [Max Movie]
• On the show, Lee is described as showing a quirky charm, which the program’s rep explains is not a fabricated “concept” but “just her true nature.” [Joy News]

When Choi Ji-woo‘s current drama, A Star’s Lover, was being planned, there was particular attention to the Japanese market, given her popularity there. Hopes were high that this series would be a hit with its two big-name leads (Choi and movie star Yoo Ji-tae), so I suppose the decision to cast a Bae Yong-joon lookalike actor as Choi’s character’s ex-lover was done in fun and maybe even some fan-service. After all, it’s on the basis of their drama Winter Sonata alone that Ji-woo-hime and Yonsama amassed such huge fanbases overseas, particularly in Japan.

Philip Choi (Soulmate), above, made his first “real-time” appearance on the drama this week (he’d been teased in flashbacks and memories thus far), and I think it’s hilarious how much effort they went through to make him look, seem, and act like Bae Yong-joon. The hair particularly makes me laugh.

Yeah, Philip Choi (who is seven years younger than Bae) has been noted for the resemblance in the past, but I think their auras and styles are so different when Choi is doing his own thing that you wouldn’t really confuse one for the other. But that’s when he’s not being told to imitate Yonsama, of course.

I know Choi was part of the drama from the start, but given that the drama isn’t performing so well, his appearance unfortunately comes off kind of like a last-ditch casting stunt. (The ratings have been stuck consistently in the 7%-8% range, versus dramas Kingdom of the Wind and this weeks’ new entry, Return of Iljimae.)

Okay, this I find really cute.

Apparently it’s been recently noted that drama PD Jang Tae-yoo, formerly director of SBS’s War of Money and now behind the lens for The Painter of Wind, looks eerily similar to Painter star Park Shin-yang. (He totally does, no?)

The series is already the source of a lot of attention, not least because of the fact that the Jang-Park combo helped lead War of Money to be a hit “national” drama with ratings that broke the 30% viewership mark. (And let’s not forget that other big-name star in her gender-bending debut, Moon Geun-young.) Let’s see if the like-faced duo can sustain their success a second time ’round.

New actress Song Min-ji appeared in the August 13 episode of horror drama Hometown of Legends and is now sparking lots of comparisons to pop diva Lee Hyori.

What do you think, Hyori-esque or not? (Or, should I say, Hyorish-esque? Hyorish-ish?)
