With less than a week till premiere day, the youthful, mostly newbie cast of tvN’s Shut Up: Flower Boy Band gathered on January 25 for their production press conference. Leading the pack were series leads Sung Joon, playing our rocker-leader-hero (above right), who romances Jo Boa, who gets caught in a love triangle with cool, princely rival Jung Eui-chul.

(Pretty boy sandwich, mmm. Except… what in blazes are you wearing, Sung Joon? Did you run out of appropriately rebellious black rocker-goth gear on your trip up the Alps and have to settle for dyeing your lederhosen black? I’m just going to pretend the bottom half of that ensemble doesn’t exist. That may have been an unfortunate choice of words. Not I’m picturing pantsless Sung Joon. Though that’s arguably not a bad thing.)

Can you be in love with a press conference? Because I love everything about the press conference for The Moon That Embraces the Sun, the fusion-sageuk fantasy-romance drama premiering this Wednesday.

Maybe it’s the cast, whose members are both talented and charismatic, not to mention easy on the eyes. But more than that, I’m swooning over the gorgeous hanboks on display — rich, colorful, and vibrant. I love that everybody got to shine in his or her own colors. I’m particularly drooling over Jung Il-woo‘s bright jewel tones, although Nam Bo-ra’s electric yellow is a close second.

Swoon.

Lee, you may recall, recently took a leading role in cable sitcom You’re Here, You’re Here, You’re Really Here — that show on the yet-to-premiere cable channel MBN that touts itself as the “Korean Friends.” That show has begun shooting and will air as a daily sitcom for 120 episodes, making its broadcast run about six months long. And yet, here comes the news that she as also taken on a leading role in another cable show, the Channel A drama Color of Woman.

Phew! MBC’s new drama Me Too, Flower! can sigh in relief at their temporary reprieve, which somehow feels a lot like a stay of execution. The miniseries was all set to air in two days, but announced at its Monday press conference that its airdate has been pushed back one week and will instead premiere next Wednesday.

To which I say: Thank goodness, because if ever a drama needed more time to get ready, it’s Me Too, Flower. And also: What is your deal, MBC? You make this decision TWO DAYS before showtime? I know I sound like a broken record, but this is a move I’ve felt MBC shouuld’ve made weeks ago, and it’s amazing that it took them that long to make the decision. They had already bought a week of filler time by re-airing some old one-acts, so clearly they knew this was always a possibility. (...)

Yum yum yum.

The cast of tvN’s new Flower Boy Ramyun Shop showed up for their drama’s production press conference on October 27 at Seoul’s CGV theater, and they’re all looking adorable. And while lead actress Lee Chung-ah is looking fresh and flirty, I can tell you she’s not the one(s) I’m looking at.

Why hellooooo there, Jung Il-woo! I love that he’s playing the youngest role he has in years, while Lee Ki-woo just got out of the army, and yet they look the same age. Even if their characters — the Ramyun Princes? We need a nickname, stat — have got to be about a decade apart.

A week from its premiere, KBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama Man of Honor held its production press conference, with its main cast in attendance: Chun Jung-myung, Park Min-young, and Lee Jang-woo take the main three roles. Already I can see the Baker King-esque dynamic in the stills; nothing like a rich-boy-poor-boy rivalry in childhood to up the ante in adulthood, is there?

(Side note: Nice of them to keep the same hairstyles for their childhood counterparts, for ease of identification — but I’d hate to be the kid who stuck with the same haircut for over twenty years.)

Gahh, what a beautiful cast: The lead foursome of MBC’s My Princess came to their press conference on January 3 looking pretty damn gorgeous.

The Korean drama industry has its fair share of lovelies, but I don’t think I’m the only one who finds My Princess particularly blessed in the looks department, particularly with lead couple Kim Tae-hee (love the tiara!) and Song Seung-heon — although supporting leads Ryu Soo-young and Park Ye-jin are hardly looking shabby themselves.

The cast of KBS’s Sungkyunkwan Scandal gave a press conference at their drama’s filming set in Kyunggi province on the afternoon of July 15. We’ll probably see them giving another press conference nearer to their fall premiere (that’ll be the production press conference just before the drama’s broadcast), so this one was a more introductory affair.

On July 1, the cast of KBS’s Gumiho: Tale of the Fox Child held their production press conference. And while Han Eun-jung is the headliner, I’m wondering if (and hoping that) the two girls actually run away with the story.

Kim Yoo-jung plays Han’s half-human, half-fox child, and Seo Shin-ae is a sickly, cranky nobleman’s daughter. They were born on the same day and their fates become linked as Han and her daughter run away and meet Seo’s village family.

February 25 was production press conference day for MBC’s new weekend series A Man Called God, starring Song Il-kook, and was held at Seoul’s Sogongdong Lotte Hotel.

The entire main cast was present: Song as main character Choi Kang-ta, a billionaire and spy also going by the names “Peter Pan” and “Michael King”; Han Chae-young as a reporter and his primary love interest; Han Go-eun as a sexy femme fatale; Kim Min-jong as a sharp special agent with the National Intelligence Agency; Yoo In-young as the precious daughter of the man who killed Kang-ta’s parents; and Jo Jin-woong as a villain.
