Release day is approaching for Chilling Romance, the romantic comedy starring Sohn Ye-jin (Personal Taste) and Lee Min-ki (Quick) that looks hilarious and kooky.

Here are more stills and another poster and trailer for the movie, in which she plays a woman who sees ghosts everywhere (which is probably why she’s always in the drinky) and he’s a magician who supposedly conjures ghosts, but is actually a big ol’ scaredy-cat when confronted with the real thing. The poster above reads, “Is dating supposed to be this chilling?”

Here’s a sneak peek at Chilling Romance, the upcoming romantic comedy with a supernatural twist, starring Sohn Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki. I didn’t know what to expect with the tone of the film, given that it’s about a woman who sees ghosts after a near-death experience and a magician who conjures ghosts, but now that the posters and teaser are out, it looks even cuter and funnier than expected.

Sohn Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki pose for an eerie photo spread in Harper’s Bazaar, to kick off promotions for their upcoming spooky rom-com Chilling Romance, about a woman who has a near-death experience that allows her to see ghosts, and a small-time magician who claims to conjure them. The photo shoot goes for more of an Addams family vibe than the film suggests, but it’s always fun to see beautiful stars doing something a little offbeat.

Blockbuster disaster movie Tower releases first stills

The first stills are out of blockbuster film Tower, which began filming last month and is currently deep in production. As previously mentioned, Tower is an action movie that centers around a skyscraper fire and comes to us from the director of that other anticipated summer action flick Sector 7, wherein a sea monster terrorizes the workers on an oil rig, led by Ha Ji-won.

Tower will have a different sort of action, though — less kill-the-beast, more save-lives — and stars tough leading man Sol Kyung-gu (No Mercy) as a firefighter, the gorgeous Sohn Ye-jin (Personal Taste) as a restaurant manager working within the building, and a sharp-looking Kim Sang-kyung (My Country Calls) as the building manager. When disaster strikes on Christmas Eve, people begin scrambling to save their lives from the large-scale fire raging within the tower, which sounds like it ought to be intense.

Ghostly rom-com Chilling Romance wraps shoots

After three months of shoots, Lee Min-ki and Sohn Ye-jin have wrapped filming on their new movie, romantic-comedy-with-a-twist Chilling Romance, which gives us these new stills.

In the film, Sohn plays a woman who starts seeing ghosts. Lee conjures ghosts. The dilemma in their romance is clear. (Korea really does love diametric opposites, don’t they? The better with which to beat you over the head with its themes, I’m sure.)

Looks like a certain A-list star has been spending some quality online procrastinatin’ time on that king of time-wasting enablers, Facebook: Sohn Ye-jin (Personal Taste, Into the White Night) has uploaded a whole bunch of sel-cas (short for self-camera, per Korea’s typical penchant for mangling English in an attempt to come up with a witty portmanteau — in this case it means self-shot photograph) to her account, as you can see below.

Sohn Ye-jin back to the big screen with Tower

Sohn Ye-jin (Chilling Romance, Personal Taste) has announced her next project. As expected, she’ll be returning to filmlandia; what’s not as expected is the genre. She’ll be starring in her first blockbuster action flick, Tower, a disaster film about a skyscraper fire, due out later this year. Iiiinteresting. Move over, Ha Ji-won?

While I don’t think Sohn will be going the Ha Ji-won Kickass Heroine route, she will be playing something different from her repertoire of late, which is always nice. I just love her no matter what she plays, because she imbues every character with such earnestness and down-to-earth charm. (Which is hard to do, you know, when you’re so friggin’ GORGEOUS. Gah.)

Sohn Ye-jin in Harper’s Bazaar

Sohn Ye-jin is featured in the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar, taking some time away from her latest movie project — Chilling Romance with Lee Min-ki — to shoot this spread.

Her look for this shoot is described as “a free-spirited and romantic spring goddess,” which is, as usual, an overstatement of the creative concept. I won’t debate that Sohn’s a goddess, or that she looks fresh and spring-like — but if you’re calling it Spring Goddess, I’m expecting woodland fairies and butterflies dressing you in flowers and moss, is all I’m sayin’.

A toast to kick off Chilling Romance

Here’s the first still from the upcoming movie Chilling Romance, which stars Sohn Ye-jin (Into the White Night) as a woman who gains the ability to see ghosts after an accident. Because of her peculiar ability, which she cannot control, her life gets (to say the least) rather complicated.

Lee Min-ki (Haeundae) plays a popular illusionist running a horror magic show. He can conjure ghosts, which I suspect is going to be a problem in the whole romance department. Or, yunno, maybe they’re a quirky couple and this is actually a good thing because they’ll be able to team up. Who knows. It IS touted as a “hidden romantic comedy” within the chilling ghost story.

The movie is written and directed by Hwang In-ho, who also directed the witty romantic comedy My Two-Faced Girlfriend; this is first project doing double-duty. The film began its first shoots on December 27 in Seoul, and its first scene, pictured above, features Sohn’s character Yeo-ri drinking with Lee’s character Jo-gu. She’s got a good head for liquor, while he’s already pretty drunk as she teaches him how to enjoy soju. Jo-gu has been finding himself curiously preoccupied by this strange woman whose ghost-seeing ability has run interference with her social and dating life, and borrows some liquid courage as he reveals his feelings for the first time.

Eee, sounds fascinating and quirky. Right up my alley!

The film is planning for a release in the second half of the year.
