Remember the “music drama” Soul Special, featuring Han Hyo-joo (Brilliant Legacy) and Kim Dong-wook (Partner)? Kim Dong-wook has participated on the soundtrack, which also features artists like Rumble Fish and K.Will, and Kim’s track (”나에게 그대는”) was released online this week to such great response that within the first day of the release, the website went down. Soul Special is a twelve-part web series of five-minute videos that are released every Tuesday and Thursday. Parts 7 & 8 were released this week. (Watch Parts 1 & 2 in this previous post; see 3 through 6 below.)

Remember that “web toon drama” called SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)? The fantasy series by a manhwa writer released its first two episodes online this week, and the interest has been very high. (Watch below.)

The series is comprised of short segments a little over a minute long that feature Seo Hyo-rim (Job Well Done) and SS501 member Kim Kyu-jong. SETI mixes live action with a “manhwa world,” which is achieved by mixing live photography with enhanced illustrations in the background. In the first three days of its release, the first installment drew in more than 600,000 views, with word of mouth reportedly traveling fast.

Han Hyo-joo, who has just come off her SBS hit drama Brilliant Legacy at a career high, has a new project which takes the rather unique format of an “Internet drama.” Called Soul Special [쏘울 스페셜], it co-stars actor Kim Dong-wook (Partner) as her love interest.

(Hm, another web series. And this comes so soon after the other one, SETI, was announced starring Seo Hyo-rim and Kim Kyu-jong.)

Seo Hyo-rim (The World They Live In) and SS501 member Kim Kyu-jong have been cast to act together in something that has me curious — a “web toon drama” (a drama that is based on a manhwa) that mixes animation with live action.

The fantasy series is called SETI [세티], which stands for Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, and is the latest work of writer Yoon Tae-ho, who is famous for his manhwa Ikki [이끼]. Seo Hyo-rim and Kim Kyu-jong play a couple who are a part of an alien-watch club, and the production will enter filming this week. The series will be released online every Tuesday and Friday beginning October 6, for a total of 16 episodes.

Interesting concept, if they can pull it off…!
