It’s a February wedding for Go Soo

Well, there goes one more fantasy, dashed: Go Soo is getting hitched, ladies! Next month, in fact, according to his agency, which released the info today.

His reps at BH Entertainment confirmed that his romance (announced early last year) to a non-celebrity known simply as Ms. Kim would culminate in a wedding ceremony on February 17.

Go Soo and Ms. Kim, 11 years his junior (Go Soo is 33, she is 22), reportedly met in 2010 after being introduced by friends. Apparently the couple has been preparing the wedding for the past several months; the official engagement bows between the bride and groom’s parents were made last year.

Sigh. I know my Go Soo crush wasn’t really real, but sadly a part of me feels like a sad Sayuri in You’re Beautiful, trying to chant “Congratulations!” while holding back tears. Aw. I went a long while without really seeing Go Soo’s appeal — he was pretty, but I didn’t feel a pull from his roles — and it wasn’t until Will It Snow For Christmas that I thought he’d become a good actor. When an actor can rip out your heart with a tortured look in his eye, though, you’re good and hooked.

Oh well. Congratulations (sob!), Go Soo.

Eee, these may be my favorite wedding photos ever. (Pre-wedding photos, to be specific.) I just love the old-fashioned dress and styling here; vintage wedding photos are my favorite.

Actors Yoo Ji-tae (Oldboy, A Star’s Lover) and Kim Hyo-jin (Mary Stayed Out All Night) have been dating for years and are all set to tie the knot this Friday, at Seoul’s Silla Hotel. The couple recently posed for a wedding-themed photo spread for Bazaar’s November issue, where they rocked a modern look with fashion-forward wedding-wear. I love that this set of photos goes completely in the direction, down to the lighting and the treatment of the image to look old and vintage. Fabulous.

Park Shi-yeon marries

As previously announced, actress Park Shi-yeon (Coffee House, Story of a Man) married her fiancé, identified only as Mr. Park, on November 19 at Seoul’s Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Given that the groom is a non-celebrity, the affair was closed to the press, with just a select few photos from the ceremony now released to the media, as you can see here. Gah, I love how Park Shi-yeon always looks in a wedding dress, no matter the style. And she’s been in a number of them, surprisingly; a few for her roles, and a few in fashion spreads. If Jeon Ji-hyun is the perfect jeans model, then Park Shi-yeon is basically your ideal bridal model.

Actress Heo Yi-jae marries

Another celeb gets hitched: actress Heo Yi-jae (Girlfriends, Single Papa in Love) married her businessman groom in a morning ceremony on January 15.

With Heo turning 24 next month, she joins a smallish group of actresses who have tied the knot early in their careers, such as Han Ga-in and Lee Yo-won. In fact, because of her youth, her engagement spurred a bit of pregnancy speculation, which she strongly denied.

Han Ji-hye weds in Hawaii

As announced last month, actress Han Ji-hye (East of Eden, Like the Moon Escaping From Clouds) married her prosecutor fiance today in a private ceremony in Hawaii.

Han left Korea for Hawaii on the 18th — no doubt Hawaii holds a certain appeal, since it allows for the wedding party to have some privacy from the Korean media. Well, and also — it’s Hawaii. That’s reason enough, I’m sure, and the couple will spend their honeymoon there. They plan to return to Seoul at the end of the month.

Han met her groom in January 2009 at a church gathering, and announced her engagement in August 2010. As yet there have been no wedding photos of the couple; I wonder if they’ll release a few after the ceremony.

Congratulations to the happy couple.

Whoa, congrats to Han Ji-hye! The actress (Like the Moon Escaping From Clouds, My Boyfriend Is Type B) has revealed that she will marry next month in Hawaii with her boyfriend, identified only as Mr. A.

The relationship was made public in 2009, but Han has done a pretty good job of keeping her private life quiet. Her fiancé is six years older than her and works as a public prosecutor in a district office. The two met at a church gathering in January of 2009 (Han is reportedly a devout Christian).

Han said, “After living only for myself, living together and for another person is what marriage is about. I’ve met a partner that I can share my life with. As we live, we’ll encounter days that are rainy and windy. We’ll need umbrellas and coats — that’s what we will be to each other. No matter what unpaved roads we encounter in life, I will not let go of this hand, I vow to you all. I ask for lots of encouragement that I may live a happy life.”

The wedding will take place on September 21 at a hotel in Hawaii.

Jung Soo-young transforms into a blushing bride

As announced last week, actress Jung Soo-young, currently acting as Park Shi-yeon‘s employee in Coffee House, got married on Friday.

A representative from Jung’s management stated that they felt rather sorry because the news was released so last-minute (the couple preferred to keep the news quiet) and the wedding itself was closed to the public; hence the release of these photos of the happy bride.

Jung Soo-young to marry on Friday

Comic actress Jung Soo-young (Coffee House) has announced her upcoming wedding just a day in advance. Jung also announced that she is currently two months pregnant; the couple kept their plans under wraps to keep the affair low-key.

The groom is her boyfriend of six years, who is a stage actor the same age as she is. Jung debuted on the stage in a 2000 play, and acted in musicals until making the leap to the television screen in 2006. That debut role brought Jung to the national spotlight when she stole scenes as the wonderfully daffy Kang-ja (Han Ye-seul’s crazy friend) in Fantasy Couple. (It’s still the character she’s most known for; in fact, some articles announcing this news refer to her as “Kang-ja.”)

She followed that with more batty characters like Hwa-ja in Queen of Housewives, Boo-mi in City Hall, and Ga-yeon in Hero. Currently, the 28-year-old Jung is acting in SBS’s Coffee House, which means the couple will be delaying their honeymoon until she’s free.

To be honest, while I love Jung Soo-young — she’s so quirky and odd — I’m disappointed with her part in Coffee House, because she’s just so normal in it. She’s not portraying the character badly; it just fails to give her the chance to be her awesome wacky self. But congrats to the happy couple!

Kim Kang-woo to marry next month

Actor Kim Kang-woo has announced that he will be marrying his longtime girlfriend next month. The woman in question is Han Mu-young, who happens to be the older sister to actress Han Hye-jin (Jejoongwon). The two were introduced by friends in 2003 and have been dating for the past seven years.

A rep from Kim’s management, Namoo Actors, explained that the couple has set their date and location, but the ceremony will be closed to the media. The wedding will take place on June 18; however, the couple has not yet decided who will preside over the ceremony or their honeymoon location.

Kim Kang-woo came to mainstream attention through the 2003 drama I Run, which he followed with movies like Le Grand Chef and Marine Boy. His last drama was last year’s Story of a Man, where he was riveting as a cool psychopath who slowly unraveled at the seams. (Seriously? Watch it.) He played Moon So-ri‘s boyfriend in the recent movie Ha Ha Ha, which just won the top Un Certain Regard prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Next up: Kim acts with Song Seung-heon, Joo Jin-mo, and Jo Han-seon in the upcoming noir film Invincible (the A Better Tomorrow remake).

On May 2, Jang Dong-gun married fellow actress Go So-young, and given Jang’s status as one of Korea’s most popular (and most loved) actors, the wedding was pretty much the equivalent of a fancy awards ceremony red carpet. There were approximately 500 (!) guests in attendance.

The wedding took place at Seoul’s Silla Hotel, which was preceded by a press conference (the ceremony itself was not open to the public or press).
