While the drama Will it Snow for Christmas has received mixed reviews, the true legacy of the drama has been the acting capability of its amazing actors. The drama itself garnered good, but not amazing ratings (it was also overshadowed throughout its run with bigger name dramas: Iris and Chuno), and received some complaints on its less than original plot. However, the acting, especially of 3 characters have received much glowing praise.

First is Kim Soo Hyun, who has been propelled into the spotlight due mainly to his role as Kang-jin during the first 2 episodes. Regardless of his relatively young age and inexperience, he was praised for his intense acting which portrayed the depth of his character. Thereafter he stared in a 2-episode New Year special Father’s House, which was re-run due to popularity. Kim Soo Hyun is certainly an actor whom we may hope to see more of.

Finally, the end! The angst is over! Phew.

Although I didn’t really have specific predictions for how the story would end, I was fairly certain about the tone that would characterize the finale. The result was pretty close to my expectation, so more than anything, I’m relieved. Did I like the ending? Generally speaking, I was satisfied. Did I like HOW we got there? Um… I’m still working that out. There were things I liked, and things I didn’t.

Good episode, or frustrating episode? I think a little of both.

But now that we’re in the last week, I’m just looking forward to tomorrow’s finale. Granted, this writer is not known for sweet, perfect happy endings, and given her track record I think we can hope for mild happiness (or bittersweetness) at best. But I actually remain confident that we’re going to get a reunion for our couple, because it’s the only way this drama makes sense. All this angst would really be pointless if there were no payoff — and a really big one, at that, given the buildup — so I’m expecting a satisfying ending tomorrow. Or heads will roll.

Great episode! I’m so glad I didn’t let yesterday’s episode bum me out too much, because there were a lot of fantastic moments in this episode, which was a particularly nice one for Go Soo. (I know there have been some comments complaining that all he does is glare silently; he moves past that here.)

With this drama, I’ve been satisfied with episodes as long as they have at least one moment that makes me perk up, a beat that makes me think, “Wow.” Episode 13 lacked that, but there were several in Episode 14. Plus, this one made me laugh out loud.

I’ve watched enough dramas to know that a bit of story fatigue at this point is to be expected. Part of it is on my end, and part of it is on the drama’s end. But since we’re pretty near the end now, I’m telling myself to remain optimistic. This episode shows some story movement and a few light-hearted scenes that add humor, which has been lacking in recent episodes. So those were very welcome.

Some happy fans got their “Christmas date” with the cast of Will It Snow For Christmas, per the show’s recent promotional event. If you’ll recall, the SBS drama series held an online event that invited fans to tell memorable Christmas stories, with winners getting to meet the actors and possibly win a background acting part.

Four winners were chosen out of more than a thousand participants and given a brief tour of the broadcast station offices on January 14. They shared a meal with lead actors Go Soo, Han Ye-seul, Sunwoo Sun, Song Jong-ho, and Kim Ki-bang, and took photos with supporting actress Jo Min-soo, who plays Go Soo’s mother. In addition, they were shown the drama’s upcoming 13th episode, which airs this Wednesday.

After the wonderful, moving Episode 10, I was a little nervous about the one that would follow. Ep 10 was so satisfying that I almost didn’t want to continue, because it was obvious we’re in for more conflict: I thought, “Ah, I could just stop here and be happy.” I didn’t really want the series to end with 10, of course, since that would have been too abrupt, but I wasn’t sure how I’d like this next turn.

It wasn’t better than the previous episode, but I’m still onboard and generally satisfied with where we’re going. And just when things start looking predictable, we’re thrown a new twist.

Lee Seung-hwan – “천일동안” (In those 1,000 days) . A line of dialogue in this episode reminded me of this song, which is an old classic by one of Korea’s top ballad singers (though now he’s more pop-rock). I wore out this CD till it skipped. [ Download ]

Oh my goodness, this episode was so good. Probably my favorite yet.

(Sorry for the delay; it’s been a hectic week. It doesn’t mean I didn’t want to watch this episode; I honestly just couldn’t get to it.)

I was prepared to be content if the drama continued to be at the same level as Episode 9, but no, it went and outdid itself. Not only was Episode 10 packed with emotion, we actually saw some long-brewing conflicts and grievances come to a head and finally get addressed.
