Lee Min-ki prepares for his Japan Fanmeeting ’08

(I thought of riffing on Lee Min-ki’s bird’s-nest coif here, but somehow he makes it work as edgy rather than silly.)

On November 19 and 20, Lee Min-ki (Mixed-up Investigative Agency) will be meeting his Japanese fans once more for his Lee Min-ki Japan Fanmeeting ’08 (this is second such event; his first Japanese fanmeeting took place last November). The event on the 19th will be held in Osaka, while the one on the 20th takes place in Tokyo.

Demand was so high that tickets to both events sold out within an hour of going on sale, leaving unlucky fans requesting additional events. Each event will accommodate 1,500 fans.

Lee Min-ki gained a large number of his Japanese fans through his roles in 2006’s Dal Ja’s Spring and 2005’s Really Really Like You. His latest movie, Romantic Island, co-starred his Really Really Like You castmate Eugene, as well as Lee Seon-kyun (Coffee Prince), and will open on Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, his current project is the film Haeundae [해운대] with Ha Ji-won and Seol Kyung-ku. (Based on the cast alone, that movie ought to showcase a more serious actorly side to Lee Min-ki.)

all4movies....you hit the nail on the head. I loved Dalja's spring but I found him kind of expressionless. His eyes can look so vacant.
Love his afro. Always cool when young good looking actors go for the interesting look.
I don't like sleeveless with vests on men. On women it looks cool but men should wear a shirt underneath...it just seems 'manlier'. I hate 'metrosexual'

I love the belt Min Ki's sporting! More photos can be seen in his Special Photobook that came with Vol.18 of a Japanese magazine of So Ji Sub on the cover.

And newsen got it wrong...last year's fan meeting took place in December (several days before Christmas)

All 3,000 fans attending the meeting will be receiving his 2009 calendar as a gift. The theme for his calendar this year is "You Rock My World"; January features Min Ki as Elvis. The front or back cover of the calendar depicts Mickey Mouse ears (Minkiteer?) This year's calendar looks even more promising than last years (he's included personal photos of himself attending the Pentaport Rock Festival).

Why can't the desk and wall calendars be sold internationally?!! I would love to get my hands on both versions of the calendar (seems like different photos are featured in the two different-sized calendars)...

I think it was just luck that the DVD for last year's Japan Fanmeeting (release date is the 19th of November, coinciding with this year's meeting) is selling on 2 sites that ship internationally.

I also read that Min Ki and several cast members of Haeundae would be in San Francisco to film some scenes in November...

i like his acting style: makes you laugh at him, strong yet sensitive.

but yikes! did they rub his hair with a balloon before taking this shot? looks more like static cling to me! seems like it should have more "kink" or curl to make it look more deliberately afro like.

You know I think because Lee Min Ki is not a textbook pretty boy that different and edgy looks do work for him

His hair is totally like WHOA here.

I believe he will always be one of my favorites because he is a solid actor. His skill and charisma and down to earthness makes him very attractive

I like him in Dalja's Spring! Btw, his coming movie "Romantic Island" opposite Eugene was shot in Boracay Island and Manila, Philippines. Since I'm from the Philippines, I'm looking forward for this movie:-)

Did he have plastic surgery or is it just the camera angle? He looks way different here.

I don't know if he had surgeries done.. It's not that rare in Korean entertainment world.. However I was wholeheartedly in love with his "fangs" in dal ja's spring (made him more normal and less plastic).. I didn't like his denture style new teeth that was revealed on Evasive Inquiry / Mixed up agency..

I'm kind of at a point of being very tried of the plastic surgery culture in Asian Entertainment industry.. Most of the time they are very visible (as if it's quantity over quality).. Now when I watch a Korean (or Asian) drama I start noticing who has a fake nose or teeth ..
