Fans rally to support Yoon Eun-hye

After several reports of Yoon Eun-hye‘s tearful reaction to her acting criticism became known, fans have been mobilizing to send the star messages to cheer her on.

The messages have cropped up online, such as on the official My Fair Lady message board, and the fan support is growing to counter the initial complaints regarding Yoon Eun-hye’s acting. Most of the criticism has started to level off as the drama now heads into its latter half and Yoon is settling into her role. Fans (like the ones who comment here) have noted that Yoon is better when her acting shows sincerity, such as when she cries, rather than when she’s trying to act haughty or forceful.

Fyi, in case you’re wondering what the big deal is about an actor’s “bad accent,” it probably sounds like nothing to an English speaker but it can be quite an impediment to listening to an actor. Imajoon if soomwun talked like thass becuss she was rattling off a bunch of dialoog and sed thungs wrung. It gets tiring to listen to. (I actually read a Korean article that reproduced some of her lines phonetically, and oy. Headache!)

@42 Laura

Speaking of accents, aren't accents all relative? I think the English (Canadian) I speak is "normal" and accent-less vs the Newfie, New York , Boston, Texan, Valley-girl, English, Scottish, Australian, etc. "accents". But I'm sure the English language speakers in those areas would think that I have a Canadian accent.

I'm assuming the "normal" Korean spoken in dramas/films is "Seoul" Korean, with characters from different regions of the country speaking in "accents" , saturi, for example.
(Btw, can anyone tell me what accent the father and Coach Nam speak in Triple?)

@birdscout

Coach Nam and the father speak with a Gyeong Sang Nam-Do accent (i.e. Pusan, and Daegu).

Not saying YEH is a great thespian, but w/ the right project having a good storyline, dialogue, actors to work w/, as well as good direction by the director, YEH is capable of delivering a pretty good acting job (as evidenced by "Coffee Prince").

MFL is simply not a good project for YEH (or for the other actors as well), particularly since it's in the style of broad comedy, which often calls for the director to call for overacting or exaggerated expressions.

Case in point, I didn't think Gong Yoo was much of an actor based on his exaggerated portrayals in films like "My Tutor Friend", "Spygirl" and "Shes's on Duty."

But given a very good storyline, dialogue, fellow actors and director, Gong Yoo did a pretty amazing job in CP.

Ewan McGregor is regarded by most to be a very fine actor. But given horrible script(s) and direction in the Star Wars prequels, McGregor's usually fine acting came across as wooden and somewhat comical.

“Yoon Eun Hye's problem acting as Kang Hae Na”. What's wrong?

It's not that she can't do this role, it is us. Putting haters aside and the given poor MFL production and directing, she's still one of the greatest Korean actress but people should learn how to give her a chance to show that she can be versatile.

Perhaps fans are still caught up wanting more of Yoon's sweetness showcasing her unexplainable charisma. She's the type of a persona where you can't pin point why you want to see more of her attractiveness. It is not easy. They are not ready. They are angry. Not ready and can't accept this new role she's trying to portray. This is too much for them to bear. People want her to be their friend, daughter, granddaughter, younger/older sister, lover, confidant, etc. not the obnoxious, arrogant brat angry at world forgettable character.

Hopefully it will happen soon for Yoon's sake.

Struggling as it is I'm beginning to appreciate this new role of hers because it is just an act as it doesn't change her personality in real life. I think I'm ready. Yoon herself seems to be ready evident on the last few episodes. Come on, let's embrace the new her as an actor.

From the point of view of a person who doesn't understand Korean at all, I believe that YEH does a great portrayal of Hye Na. IMO, her body language is impecable - stance, facial expressions, lightness of movement, walking.

At first, I also had to struggle a bit to accept her character, because she has that candid, or should I say even simple face that doesn't go well with my concept for a stuck up rich person. However, as the show progressed and Hye Na's character bacame more sincere and expressive, I felt that she was doing a great job.

Anyway, I like both the performance and the script and MFL is one of my favourite dramas so far so I don't care if YEH receives criticism, as long as she keeps acting in the drama.

I agree with Harry.

This girl is a Princess . . . and where did she come up with that terrific walk?

I Hope your miracle comes true for you, Harry, and for me too.

GOD Bless us all . . . and especially . . . GOD Bless Yoon Eun Hye . . . that beautiful Princes girl . . . the best and most wonderful girl . . . who needs our prayers.

Praying for her . . . to stay nice . . . and to have happiness in her friends and family and in her life.

Many around her, without intending harm, taking advantage of her and misleading her in wrong directions . . . even though not on purpose to do her harm. They just want to be around her and she with them.

Recently, she even 'innocently' is making the mistakes, falling further and further into the world and its' allurements.

I pray GOD protect her from all the hurt that can be.
