First look at Hero’s heroes

Another of the year’s highly anticipated dramas is nearing its premiere date: Lee Junki‘s MBC drama Hero [히어로], which features the star as a hot-blooded reporter. On October 8, new stills were released of Lee Junki in action on the set, which follows a previously released still of second lead Eom Ki-joon (below), who plays a rival reporter.

In the new images, Lee’s reporter character arrives at his first day of work at a small-time newspaper. Lee Junki said, “The director, writer, and all the actors and crew are going into filming doing our best. Please look forward to the liveliness and passion of the drama, as well as a side of my personality I haven’t shown before in other projects, as I play a reporter with cheerfulness and enthusiasm.”

One source from the production team of the comic-infused drama said, “The director has worked with Lee Junki and the other actors for a long time in advance, so the set is very upbeat. It’s so full of laughs that it almost feels like the set of a comedy.”

Aside from Lee Junki and Eom Ki-joon, Hero stars Kim Min-jung, Jung Soo-young, and Ji Chang-wook and follows Heading to the Ground on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It airs its first episode on November 18.

I hope it is safe to say that I am looking forward to this (LJK's come back :)). But the description of the drama doesn't really interest me. If its comedy I hope LJK doesn't over do it like in iljimae. :(

I love all three dramas I've seen with LJK in it (My Girl, Time Between Dog and Wolf, and Iljimae) so I'm totally looking forward to this. I hope he finally gets the girl this time.

For whatever reason I was thinking this was a conspiracy type drama, and now I'm a little disappointed it isn't. I thought LJK was this reporter who discovered some big story, and was working for the little guy to get justice. Maybe I'll give it a shot, but I have to say that the actual premise is not so thrilling to me.

MBC should promote more about storyline and cast... coz now it's too vague to get the plot. Til now, i know nothing about the story. They only tell about character's personality??? Anyway, i personally like leejunki in this character... cheerful and funny. while Eon gi-joon is a cold blooded guy. really interesting !!

can't wait to watch it ^^

*squeals like a fan girl on Red Bull* Gee, Javabeans, you've been making me do that a lot lately! Thank you! I am SO looking forward to this drama. I can honestly admit that, yes, I am shallow, I don't care what it's about, just that it's LEE JUN KI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the story line is good, that's just icing.

Thanks for posting this!

Oh, and for the record...MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I adore drama-Junki, as opposed to singing-Junki, theatrical Junki, and all other Junki incarnations. I've recently become a fan of Kim Min-jung after New Heart (and Fashion 70's), but I wonder about their chemistry.... I'm sure I'll be pleasantly surprised, both are good an digging into their roles.

@ 4 mimmay

I've always felt that Junki/Soo-hyun did get the girl at the end of TBDAW. Remember, his next mission is in the heaven for spies, Paris, and lo and behold, who else is heading to Paris to study but Ji-woo. It's clear to his brother that their meant to meet, and the audience is left this little door open, and knowing those two's interwining fates, I see SH and JW living somewhere foreign and finally letting go of their past.

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS ABOUT?

And what is with all these k-dramas that are so vague on plot? There's that car salesman thing, the creating destiny thing. GIVE ME A PLOT. There's no way I'm gonna be excited to pick up a drama when all I know about it is that it's about frigging CAR SALESMEN or NEWSPAPER PEOPLE. Sheesh. Didn't these people take Comp 101? You need to enthrall the audience in your first paragraph or we lose interest. So enthrall me with a synopsis Korea.

(The last synopsis I was enthralled by was Brilliant Legacy. I read the synopsis and went, "OOOH, interesting, I'm watching!". Honestly, the only k-drama I've read about that I'm intrigued by (besides Chuno and IRIS) is Angels Temptation. That's all. Give me something to work with!)

(Oh and I am starting Smile, but only because of javabeans recaps. The synopsis of that one also made it sound as dull as a pair of Keds)

Uhm Ki Joon does "Smarmy Guy" extremely well. And he just looks so good doing it AND manages to make you not hate him in the process. No mean feat, because I am quite capable of holding a grudge. I still have residual hate left over for Jung Kyung-ho because of his character in MiSa, which is keeping me from appreciating him in Smile, You. Although I liked him in Time Between Dog and Wolf, which brings us back to Lee Junki!

It's like Six Degrees of Separation. Is Lee Junki the Korean Kevin Bacon?? ;-)

Maybe it's just me, but Lee Jun Ki is not the slightest attractive to me.
Considering all the squealing, swooning, and non stop compliments about his hotness, I must profess that I'm "doubting" my opinion.

I still hold firm, alas.

JB, are you a LJK fan or am I just splitting crazy?

@ 29 Werdah

Like my post above said, I am solely a fan of drama-Junki, i.e. he is really attractive and charismatic on screen in his drama roles. Have you seen his dramas, such as My Girl, Iljimae, and Time Between Dog and Wolf? TBDAW is my fave Junki role, and made me become his drama fan, and the drama itself is quite entertaining, so I recommend it if you want to understand Junki's appeal.

Junki looks rather androgynous in pictures, but trust me, he conveys a masculine and little-boy lost vibe when you see him act. If I didn't watch his dramas, I would not think he is attractive, because his face is not my ideal manly face, but onscreen, he's definitely a leading man. Just my two cents. You're not splitting crazy for not finding him attractive.

I am splitting crazy. Was I blind? Then, why...

Suddenly, I find him utterly and undoubtly appealing. Maybe I just drank too much of that Red Bull they were talking about, because I feel like squealing, too.
