7) MNIKSS – I love the mountain scene but I think my favorite is the dual-nosebleeds-in-bed. (”What if I’m not pregnant?” Blink….blink. O_o )

Ooooh.... the double nosebleed scene. Just awesome! Binnie aint no pushover! Result? double KO! LOLZ.

1) The door kiss in Coffee Prince (”Take your foot out!”)

Right! How could I leave that out... It was a very visceral scene, almost unique. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Great acting by both!

And another of my fave scenes:

From Time between Dog and Wolf, the scene when Lee Jun-ki and Nam Sang-mi first meet as adults - I am a sucker (sucker I tell you - ummm, langdon-unni, have your tissues ready for the HGD reunion scene - I don't want to list as fave for fear of spoiling for you) for reunion scenes, and this one involved Jun-ki (gah, so pretty!), NSM's eyes, rain (oh, how I love rain in k-dramas), speaking and reading Thai to recognize each other, and mistakenly thinking the other person is creepy/hitting on you/attracted to your immense ungodly good looks (this should always happen, but viewers are always led to believe the leads miraculously recognize each other from their childhood days).

My new fave song from the TBDAW OST also featuring above scene. And a special shout out to Jung Kyung-ho, for being a good brother and best friend and extreme non-tool second lead in TBDAW.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTydOZ7EY5o

Jun-ki and NSM had amazing chemistry together.

Just call me whatever you want, I would drop the dongsaeng cuz it take too long to type it!

I feel terrible, barely slept last night, but alas, it's bearable.

I almost forgot, Jo Jae-hyun (I keep wanting to type Jo Hyun-jae, cuz he was my first k-drama crush) is an amazing actor, has a lot of presence, and he was the real lead in New Heart with Ji Sung and Kim Nam-soo. I have been recommending New Heart for awhile now, and it's really a very good show. JJH plays the head of the teaching hospital's cardiothoracic surgery department, and he's part House, part McDreamy, and all awesome with a knife.

@langdon813 -

for future reference - when you are the older person, you generally just call the person whatever you want. Since, if you are the older, if you speak, anyone who is within listening range who is younger will automatically be looking at you at attention, you don't even need to use their name. i.e., a good "ya!" is sufficient to not only grab their attention, but giving them a good what-for at the same time. You'll be looking at the person you are targetting, and so there is no need to use their name. Just say what it is that you want to say. It is up to the target dongseng to pick up who you are talking to, and respond accordingly.

If there isn't a way to differentiate who you are talking to, i.e., you are yelling at a bunch of younger people grouped together all of whom you have a relationship with, then you might use their name or their position. using names though shows an intimacy that isn't often shown without purpose. so, it is better just to use their relationship to you, rather than their name.

:)

On the other hand, a younger person with a lot of noonas or unni's (or hyung's or oppa's), would find it difficult to say which person they are referring to - so, if I were a young lad and I saw hjkomo and langdon813, and I wanted to catch the attention of one of them, I wouldn't just say, "noona!" because I would get the attention of both. So, I would say, langdon813-noona! , or, hjkomo-noona!

And finally, if there is only one noona or unni around, or hyung or oppa, you would generally just say "noona" or "unni" etc., as there is no need to use their name at all.

"rain (oh, how I love rain in k-dramas)"

Rain or rain? or RAIN? :D

@ belleza

Just rain, chaste rain, not the rip-your-clothes-off-afterwards-dirty rain, cuz that kind of rain doesn't exist in k-dramas, much to my chagrin.

As for Rain, I refer back to my Kwan Sang-woo proclamation - if I see man-boobs masquerading as abs-of-steel boobs, sorry, I cannot possible sweat you. Rain in Full House had so much man-boob cleavage, I almost ran out and got a boob job just to feel feminine again. Only a dude like Joo Ji-hoon can pull off cleavage bearing sweaters in a variety of drapes and pastel colors.

Also, care to shed light on the "stomach" comment with respect to Snowman. I've never been tempted to watch it, but now am curious? Does it involve much suffering and/or angsty love?

Thanks Samsooki! Yes, being one of the oldest here you're pretty much all my dongsaengs. That's okay, I accept my position as noona and unni (okay, I'm an ajumma, damn it. But no perm here, heh).

No worries. I'll just say "Hey! *insertnamehere*" from now on. :-D

Okay, I have seen Jo Jae-hyun a little bit before because I've seen the first episode of New Heart. I'm not sure what else I was watching at the time to have dropped it, but it was good and I'm sure I'll get back to it at some point. His name just didn't ring any bells. WOO HOO! An ajusshi! Even born in the same decade as me! Now I HAVE to get to know him better, just on principal. (Don't worry Lee Min-ki darling...mama still loves you).

belleza, I remember you previously recommended Snowman to me, which I think may have piqued my interest because of Kim Rae-won (who is probably way down the list of main characters). Please tell me it isn't sadder than MiSa or Snow Queen?! I'm going to have to buy stock in Kleenex.

"Rain in Full House had so much man-boob cleavage,"

Actually Full House had a full house of boobs. I never knew the female rival's name -- we just called her Wonderbra Girl. :D

"Also, care to shed light on the “stomach” comment with respect to Snowman. I’ve never been tempted to watch it, but now am curious? Does it involve much suffering and/or angsty love?"

Snowman is from the same writer as My Name is Kim Sam Soon and What's Up Fox. But it's the writer's melodrama proper. In terms of script, I like it more. JJH marries Gong Hyo Jin's big sister. GHJ falls in love with JJH. And there ya go.

It's emotionally painful stuff because the writer approaches the subject realistically and with sensitivity. Gong Hyo Jin (without question my favorite under-30 actress working in K-drama) took this role after Ruler of the World, and it's similar to that drama's misfit character. But here . . . it's just . . . wow, Gong Hyo Jin gives a really, really anguished performance here.

GHJ has a history of playing misfit, outsider characters in K-drama. Even her GTO-ish drama with Gong Yoo, Hello My Teacher is like that.

I should point out, JJH's specialty is actually comedy. If you can get your hands on Happy Together, he and Chae Tae Hyun make a hilarious duo.

Does anyone think if you combine Jang Geun-soek's hairstyle in You're Beautful with Jung Il-woo's latter-half hairstyle in My Fair Lady - you'd get the perfect leading man semi-wavy, kind slick, infinitely tousle-able hair.

I'd also like to see those two in a drama together, maybe with Lee Min-ho, kinda a bros before hos bromance vehicle.

Runner up: Binnie again, The World That They Live In. Boy has some good hair.

@Samsooki Since I admitted that I'm a Coffee(Prince)Nut, I have to give my version of my favorite scene from this :
When both Choi Han Kyul and Ko Eun Chan crying their eyes out because 1) CHK can't forgive KEC lying to him all this time regarding her true gender ,and 2) KEC asking him if she can just be with him even though he's mad and he says NO

Other great scenes of Kdrama:
CH When Gookie gave Mirae an "original" designer bag....priceless AND the "Significance" of the cell phone call....melts.....

MNIKSS I have to say the bathroom scene..."It's occupied" ties with double nosebleed (with can you go to the nearest drugstore,honey?)

ROI Every scene whenever I see JLW's eyes ( you agree, langdon813)

Dae Jang Geum The intimate moments that Jang Geum has with Capt Min without any actual physical /sexual contacts and yet you can feel their love.

As a herald to Baby Ji-hoon's arrival (aka/fka Baby Samsooki), a good lawyer buddy of mine just had his first baby yesterday, and the blessed boy is named......Baby (Na) In-sung! (he also has an English name of course, but it's not as cool so I won't divulge).

Thought it was poetic after I spent the weekend watching JIS in WHIB. I'm also afraid if I speak the name too fast, I'll accidentally say Na In-jung, we who all know is the unluckiest lovelorn leading lady ever to grace the small screen in Bad Love.

Below is a posting of hubby's response to the birth announcement:

@cingdoc,

"Dae Jang Geum The intimate moments that Jang Geum has with Capt Min without any actual physical /sexual contacts and yet you can feel their love."

Oh I loved that couple too! Originally the writers were going to devote the last 1/3 of DJG to a love triangle between him and the king. However, because the Madam Han arc went for half the show (thank you live shoot!! ;) ), they had to cut most of it out.

@ ockoala ,

"I’ll accidentally say Na In-jung, we who all know is the unluckiest lovelorn leading lady ever to grace the small screen in Bad Love."

You have to admit. Love hates Na In-jung. :D

First, we need to officially write the obituary for the Pama

Name: Mr. Pama, Ultimate Perm of Man, dead at 8 months old
Born: Jan 5, 2009
Time of Death: 11PM. October 8, 2009

Description: Mr. Pama, aka "Ultimate Perm of Man", made various souls glo among Korean actors in 2009. Mr. Pama was born on the top of Jung Pyo's head on Jan 5, 2009 during the broadcast of Boys Before Flowers. In that interim period, Mr. Pama was pursued by rabid fangirls in 4 different countries, including South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Queens, New York City. Mr. Pama then relocated to the head of Kwon Sang Woo, owner of various beach-side pianos, during the broadcast of Cinderella Man. This period of isolation was highly successful, as Mr. Pama was declared missing by not only fangirls, but normal viewers as well. Mr. Pama finally moved to the head of one Jung Il Woo. However, Mr. Pama caught a nasty variant of swine flu (Livus Shootus Nofungus) and was quickly in declining condition on top of Jung Il Woo's head. By the first week of October, Mr. Pama had lost half of his bodyweight and was in fact surviving on life support. Mr. Pama died on October 8, 2009, with no fangirls to witness its demise, on top of Jung Il Woo's head. Mr. Pama is survived by his parents David Hasellhoff and
Reverend Al Sharpton. He leaves his child Speed Scandal Prince and illegitimate child Greasy Hair Guy.

Second . . . Jung Il Woo's hair just got destroyed in the 2nd half of My Fair Lady. It really did look like his hairline was receding before my eyes, which uhhh didn't help Tae Yoon's chances lol. As for Jang Geon Suk, I almost have to think that JGS wanted his hair that way, because there's absolutely no precedent for it. TOP (aka the "Zachary Quinto Is It Logical That I Shoot You Lee Byung Hun" haircut) has featured something similar, but it ain't greasy. JGS is doing the Johnny Depp career path in reverse apparently. Kinda normal and dull in his acting roles, all sorts of PHREAKY in public life. Maybe he's found his inspiration (he seriously looks like Kitaro from GeGeGe no Kitaro . . . which means he's actually dead. JGS = Greasy Edward???)

Somebody help our Ha Ji Won boytoy, huh??? :D

@ Samsooki

YAH!!!
While I must agree with your HGD favorite moments (the king by the tree scene was superb!)....how could you leave out Yinok shielding Gildong with her hands in ep.7, so he could cry without anyone seeing???? Tsk, tsk...

@ belleza

Gotta agree with the Alone In Love singing-at-wedding scene.
Damn, when am I getting my dvd's back from my sister-in-law?!

@ langon813

Tamna Ep.11 - heart...ripped...out......dead....on....floor.
Just waiting for the full 20 eps to relive all the Island goodness.

@ cingdoc

I was wondering why nobody mentioned ROI.
Yes, every scene with JIW's eyes.....and mane of glory.....and kick-ass fighting........
....and doorway shots.........AND.........all right.....TOO NUMEROUS TO COUNT.
All I can say is -> Iljimae and Baek Mae. Together. At last.

=====

So, I finished 8 Days, and I must say it was incredibly well-written. It's not the sort of fluff that's easily digestible by all.....but if you like political intrigue, great dialogue, superb acting, and NOT being treated like an idiot viewer...than I'd highly recommend it. Kim Sang Joong made the best kickass king I've ever seen, and the man is still hot in his mid-forties. Lee Sun Ho's still got work to do on his acting, but he was drool-worthy. And I've yet to fully recover from the puddle of drool I turned into whenever Park Jung Chul opened his mouth (to speak, that is).

As tempting as a HGD re-watch is, my next drama's going to be Conspiracy In The Court - Director's Cut. Anyone care to join me? The three months until Chuno's start is closing in fast (although I wish it were faster).

ROFL!!!!
But I must point out that the obituary for Mr. Pama, Ultimate Perm of Man is missing one key stopover on his 8-month journey -> atop Yoon Sang Hyun's head in Queen of Housewives. There, he joined forces with Mr. Slick-Porno-Stache in helping YSH shoot to fame. Mr. S-P-S did have a short reprieve when YSH shaved for all of one scene in QOH, while Mr. Pama made it through the entire drama. But who won out in the end? Why.....it was Mr. S-P-S, of course, as evidenced by his continuous attachment to YSH in MFL. :P

It must also be noted that Mr. Pama, while made internationally famous by Gu Jun Pyo in BOF....was merely a reincarnation of a being born almost exactly one year earlier ->
Kang Ji Hwan's Mr. Not-So-Ambiguously Ajumma Pama in Hong Gil Dong, circa Jan-Mar 2008.

Gil Dong's ajumma pama was all we talked about for the first week of HGD, probably longer. :P

ooo... favorite kdrama scenes??? let's see here.

@samsooki - totally agree with your My Girl scenes. also right after she tells the family the lie about having planned it from the beginning and is trying to walk away from gong chan who's telling her she's lying. it was like she couldn't believe what she just said and couldn't breathe.

@langdon813 - yes yes yes!!! to your coffee prince scene and tamra... that tamra scene made me speechless. i still have not gotten over it. one of the most heartwrenching scenes ever for me. <3 park kyu!!!! and the scene on the bridge when beojin says 'i hate you' and park kyu looks like...he has lost everything. it's such a sad scene and they played it so well.

9E2O - when the friends are sitting around asking each other what love means to them and nanhee says 'timing' and hyung tae looks at her. i still want me a hyung tae please.

goong - when JJH finally admits he needs YEH by his side :)

While I must agree with your HGD favorite moments (the king by the tree scene was superb!)….how could you leave out Yinok shielding Gildong with her hands in ep.7, so he could cry without anyone seeing???? Tsk, tsk…

I love that part. I LOVE that part.

In fact, Mrs. Samsooki and I were pretty impressed by a number of things in that scene.

1. The acting of that scene by both Sung Yuri and KJH. JB likes the acting of KJH, but I find SYR's acting really good there too - it isn't easy to play her character.

2. The acting by the actor who played In Hyung, the half-brother. Pretty dang good!

3. I love the dialogue. It isn't sappy. It isn't explicative (or overly talk-y). It says enough, but the acting explains the rest, as it should be.

4. And I love the part where Yinok holds up her hands. It seemed a really long time, so Mrs. Samsooki and I, whenever we watch that scene, we put our hands up too, to commiserate with Gil Dong, and to see if we can hold up our hands as long as Yinok (we can, but it ain't easy!).

hehe, we crack ourselves up. yes, it is a great scene, and no we are not making fun of HGD, but we like to have fun when we watch, even it is sad.

:)

OHH! And you cannot forget that this is the episode with the ".... I lub you..."

That alone is worth the price of admission.

Open Thread will need to be re-named as Daily Thread! I come here daily and ritually - applause to everyone for making this such a fun place!

About the favorite scenes of kdrama, I second almost all of the above in relation to those dramas that I've watched especially:

* City Hall - All the KSA-CSW scenes, but the phone call in the second last scene of the Finale, to me, is the biggest WOW moment of kdrama of all time.

* Coffee Prince - I wonder why no one mentioned this scene: the beach scene in Ep 9 when Han Kyul tried to hold a sleeping Eun Chan. Gong Yoo is amazing there!

* Alone in Love - SYJ's singing at wedding scene. It is beyond heart-breaking. Belleza and hjkomo, I'm so glad to see a lot of AIL love here. This drama is seriously so under-rated in terms of popularity among viewers.

* MNIKSS - The mountain scene as agreed by so many others.

* Beautiful Days - The cherry blossom scene in full as so vividly recapped by ockoala.

* Hotelier - BYJ's forced kiss on SYA in the lift

* Goong - The whole sequence of Prince Yul's birthday party. Teen drama fairyland at its best!

* All about Eve - All the JDG and CR moments. They are so comfortable and easy at eyes.

I love the helicopter scene in Fashion 70s too and JJM is drop dead gorgeous there, but unfortunately that first-encounter is probably the drama's biggest highlight as far as romance is concerned.

ROI AND HGD SPOILERS ABOUND (JUST IN CASE)

@271, hjkomo

You're so right, there are just so many outstanding scenes in ROI; it's almost impossible to pick just one, or even two. I got interrupted by work nonsense today and didn't really get to think out the rest of my faves list with regard to ROI. The execution scene, the "Hey, we met exactly once a few years ago, thought about you ever since, you're even hotter now than you were then, let's sleep together" moment was pretty freaking awesome (as we all know how I feel about the Why No Sex In K-Dramas? conundrum). The suicide attempt was shocking; the first meeting between father and son (OMG, so sweet); the long-awaited reunion of Iljimae and Wol-hee; GAH...it's like Sophie's Choice. JIW's amazing eye-acting, Iljimae finally, FINALLY meeting his mother (OMG OMG OMG)...I could go on and on.

But my favorite favorite favorite thing about ROI?

MANE! OF! GLORY! Would Iljimae be Iljimae without it? I think not.

***********

Hong Gil Dong Update time!

Ep 10 ended, I read JB's recap of Ep 10, cussed loudly over the cliffhanger, because surely now they'll reunite, right? She's in his arms, for God's sake! Kleenex is at the ready, I'm PREPARED...

...but not for a hilarious Cyrano de Bergerac scene. FUNNIEST THING EVER. I totally forgive them for depriving me of my good cry.

I might have to watch that part again...that's as far as I've gotten so far!

Enjoy being a gooddownloader, I'd do anything JWS plus HB tells me to do. And look how they positioned those two at each end of the group photo, just to spread out the wealth and make us view everyone else as well. And everyone really is so very nutrious on the eyes.

@ Samsooki

You and the missus haven't watched Time between Dog and Wolf before? (sorry, I know you posted a very very detailed listed of your watched dramas, but I haven't the capacity to unearth it).

TBDAW is a drama I like better after a re-watch (I've seen it twice now, and it's one that I can see myself watching again and again), It's not perfect or even particularly groundbreaking, but it feels like all the pieces fit together just right, and the story is gripping without crossing into the hackneyed and maudlin territory.

Like I said, Jun-ki is actually the most masculine guy in the drama, go figure, and NSM his very luscious, honeyed first and true love (or lub, as we're all on HGD speak these days). I think you mentioned that you like Nam Sang-mi, she was perfectly cast here.

@ langdon-unni (btw, I get Lee Min-ki every other time I refresh, no exaggeration, it's freaky how LMK is now following me around)

Tsk tsk, posting after each HGD episode only means you're wasting precious minutes on what could be the next HGD episode, shoo shoo, back to HGD you go! Teasing, I love hearing your play by play, just like I loved reading JB's recaps after each episode. HGD is awesome with a side of kimchee.

BTW, I have NEVER hated Chang-whe or wished for him to be devoured by man-eating bears (Eun-hye - yup, here bears, bears, bears) - it was clear from episode one that he was a man to be PITIED, by the weight of everything that was meant to be his, and never could really to be his, Enok included.

I personally think JGS did his best, I know the boy can emote, he was probably given the wrong walking papers from the Hong sisters, plus he looks 10 and weighs like a 12 year old, so unfortunately, he aint ever gonna man up against HGD. If I were JGS, I would say "more eyeliner, please" and run with the pretty man-boy routine.

Just my two HGD cents, every episode got a fave scene for me, to be honest. And every second of City Hall was a fave for me, so um, sorry for not mentioning these two shows on my fave moments list.

I'm actually excited about tomorrow - cuz MFL better have a in-bed scene and You're Beautiful better tickle as much as the previews tickled.

@epyc
Why, you asked, did a coffee nut like myself not mention the beach scene-because it was tooo painful for me to see my Gong Yoo in agony. At that moment, Choi Han Kyul hate himself for liking the boy Eun Chan. I think that's why he was furious at her later on. He was thinking all those intimate moments they could have if she would have told the truth earlier. I agree with you, of course, that my Gong Yoo rocks ...it was here in Coffee Prince that I fell hopelessly in love with him....(you see, langdon813, I know how You feel about LMK, he he)
-Goong I have to say it has to be the "real date" YEH and Prince Shin had; YEH showing the Prince her/the real world, ending with them kissing in the middle of the street. Now, that ,you do not see too much in an Asian society ( vs here in So Cal, a common scene in any high school you want to pick)

I might suggest to them to do a MNIKSS plot and tell grandpa that "there's a bun in the oven" (as Binnie told his mom). Maybe this way, Grandpa cannot marry aghassi to Legoman ( sorry ,my used to be hot JIW), and let DC and aghassi live happily ever after. I know, the word "best" is overused, especially with respect to k-dramas and their fans, but isn't dal-ja's spring just the best? LOL.

The writing is so clever, the character of dal-ja is so cool, so many good parts. I love the beginning of the drama too. You know how a lot of dramas have trouble getting off the ground in the beginning? I love how this drama is so smooth in the beginning - you never feel like anything in the drama is forced...

I think Dal Ja's Spring gets not enough love on open threads.

@cingdoc - ya i was not... thrilled with this ep. it felt like a filler. no real development between the characters, tho mcgee may be getting a gal perhaps? i dono if i like that - unless it's to bring abby closer to mcgee hehe. i always really liked mcabby - nerdy nerd + gothy nerd = awesomeness to the nth degree :P i don't even know what's going on in the next episode cuz the train had to pass by my house and honk it's loud-a$$ horn RIGHT when the preview was showing, right?? all i saw was a pic of ziva and the word "murder" or something. intriguing.

re: coffee prince beach scene - yes, another one of my fave scenes. as painful as it was, i am masochistic so i loved it. that and when she was pounding on his door after he found out and wouldn't talk to her. i love me a good angsty scene.

@langdon813,

You know what -- I realized we've never done a MANE OF GLORY LIST. So here's mine . . .

1) Jung Pyo's Pama in Boys Before Flowers. Jung Pyo set a precedent, because he's the first dude in the history of Asian drama to master the Pama aka "Perm of Ultimate Man" Or, rather, he's the first Doumyouji creation to actually not look like an idiot with the super curls.

2) Binnie's Boxer+Goatee in Snow Queen. So, there's two Binnies. The short hair, well coiffed one of Sam Soon and World That They Live in. Then there's the long hair, boxer-without-a-cause martyr saint of Snow Queen and Millionaire's First Love. And I contend -- you can only fall in love with JUST ONE of the Binnie. You may profess love for both Binnie, but you're either into pretty boy Binnie or noble savage Binnie. The latter for me, please. :D

3) Pre-Time of Dog and Wolf Lee Jung Ki. When you're a beautiful woman, you're a beautiful woman. LJK should never be allowed to cut his hair EVER.

Can't think of anymore right now. Anybody share?

ooh, I have a few:

1. KJH - Hong Gil Dong's massive frizz fro.
2. Ji Sung's greasy vengeance locks in Swallow The Sun
3. A baby Ryu Shi Won with his shaved sides and floppy top in Bimil (2001).

@ Mr. Pama Award
Can we have a honorable mention for the cutie patooie little cousin in MFL...I mean he's soooo cute, even with that godawful perm....lol- we will give him a Mr Pama breakout star award or something...he he

@lovenyc52 I saw the preview, but since I have alzheimer (or a overworked working mom's brain), I cannot, for the life of me, recall what I saw...maybe, later on when my brain "thaw out" a little bit (or when I ask one of my teenage princesses), I will let you know, okay? he he

@belleza
Binnie actually had 2 hairstyles in MNIKSS : kind of long, wavy in the beginning, and then the shorter I-didn't-do-a-thing to it version. Anyhoo, I like my men to be clean shaven, EXCEPT Ji Jin Hee in Dae Jang Geum. I never really like period drama (langdon813, it has obviously changed since then because I love ROI), but he "melted" me- the quiet, considerate,sensitive hunk of man......that Ji Jin Hee

On a serious note...
@Samsooki When is our "nephew", little Samsooki's due date? Is Mrs.Samsooki doing ok? If the date is within a few weeks, I think she is not feeling too comfortable right about now...please rest, REST a lot.

@289 cingdoc -

Baby Ji Hoon is "due" in a fortnight and four days, but at this point, "any time now or later" is probably just as good of a guess.

The crib is made, the changing table is painted and assembled, the baby room is painted, the baby electronics are in place, the baby genies are in place, the bag to the hospital is packed, the infant car seat is purchased, we are nearly there in terms of prep. Mrs. Samsooki is doing fine, a bit pouty due to various ailments that are associated with being used as a temporary residence to an alien being.

:)

@Mrs. Samsooki This is just a friendly(medical) advise- if you can , try to walk as much as you can. This will HELP you tremendously during the delivery. For my first child, I did not walk as much, and I had some trouble. For the second one, she literally "popped" out in 41 minutes...You do not have to power walk, just try to walk around a bit. **cough ** I guess this require Samsooki to leave the laptop for about 30 min or so to accompany you **cough **
I wish it's possible, but I know there's privacy concerns- I wouldn't mind sending little Samsooki a present to welcome him to kdramaland....I think we all just to have to give him virtual kisses and gifts when the time comes....

All this talk about hair, glorious, k-drama hair - I have nothing more to add about Manes of Glory, I just lapped up every word about it and dream about sticking my hands into Binnie's mane, both Snow Queen and MNIKSS (sorry, belleza, don't wanna pick one, me loves both cuz I have room enough in my heart for both). ;=)

I have discovered that bad hair no longer turns me off a drama (I'm about to check out You're Beautiful, so I practice what I preach), because the loves of my k-drama men have almost all had ridiculous/borderline wretched/the-stylist-was-smoking-weed type of hair - and each transcended their hair and elevated their hair to becoming acceptable, nay, even beloved by the end of the drama because it was on our hero's head.

1. Lee Byung-hun in Beautiful Days, whoever thought two-tone dying his hair, plus combing it over one eye, enhanced his awesome manly appeal must be taken outside and shot.

2. Cha Seung-won in City Hall - can't describe it, just weird, kinda plastered on, kind neither here nor there, but who cares, cuz it's on Jo Gook's head!

3. Kang Ji-hwan in Hong Gil Dong - the perm my father had in the seventies (and kinda again in the eighties), let that style forever rest in peace.

4. Not a fave of mine, but just had to call it out - Lee Seung-gi in Brilliant Legacy - I think Thundie devoted an entire ode to the hair on Hwan's head - 2 words, Bird's Nest! But Hwannie definitely owned it and then some, best acting by LSG was his co-existing in harmony with his hair.

5. Lee Min-ho in Boys Before Flowers - aw heck, bad hair, what bad hair, I loved that hair!

I think that's about it, cuz everyone else had either good to pretty good hair in their drama, or was unable to rise above their hair and conquer it - either way, not worth discussing.

Hair is a very important accessory for men - kinda like a bag and shoes for the ladies. And for Jang Geun-seok, eyeliner is also a very important accessory for him it seems like, better not leave home without it, babycakes!

Finally, after years of drama watching, we have this ultimate discussion about the all the important hair! Maybe it's the dark hair that Asians have, I find the heavy dose of hairspray is very obvious especially in t-dramas. Against all the great Manes of Glory above, I just wish to name a big, big turnoff - the bobby pins on Mike He. They deduct a lot of marks from Devil Beside You!!

@belleza
I'm with you on Binnie's hair.

@ockoala
I agree. Even though CSW's hair in CH and LSG's hair in BL was bad, it didn't stop me from 'falling' for the hotties. I do prefer LSG's current hairstyle better - it looked like he trimmed down the birdnest.'

Feel better by the way.

Morning all! Here's my contribution to the K-drama hair discussion, and I think it speaks for itself:

OK, I have to rant AND rave.

The rant part - I had another virus attack on my laptop today and it is DEAD. I had to pack it up and send it back to my company. Hey, good thing I'm addicted to K-dramas and not porn, that's all I've got to say. But still, it is a work computer and I'm constantly doing things on it that are not work related. They provided the sucky virus protection, but whatever. Hopefully I'll have it back in a couple of days and I swear to never ever venture off work sites again.

Rant Part Deux

Husband is NOT being sympathatic enough to suit me and even went so far as to suggest that I just stop watching K-dramas altogether. So we'll be getting divorced soon...

Now, for the rave:

My son (who majored in IT) called me a little while ago and I told him what happened. He said me that he bought a new laptop a month ago and has used it exactly twice. He is going to give it to me (yes, GIVE it to me), and not only that, tomorrow is his first day off in 16 days straight, but he's bringing it to me (about 100 miles each way for him). According to him, it is Fort Knox of laptops as far as virus protection is concerned, so I shouldn't ever have to worry about getting a virus again. The only thing he wants in return is my homemade chicken and dumplings for dinner tomorrow night! :-D

Ladies, he's 24, 6'1", very cute and very single! Plus, he plays video games for a living, so if that's your thing, hey...he's a catch! His only vices are smoking and a reluctance to do laundry until he's completely out of clean clothes.

I'm a happy Mom.

@langdon813
Sorry to hear about your "sick" laptop, but I am glad that you have a nice son who is giving you the "Fort Knox" version in return. You see, your hubby was good for something; he gave you your son(ok, not give you, but let's just say "contribute")-not just any son, but a wonderful one. So....don't divorce your hubby...yet...only if he stops you from watching the final episode of your favorite kdrama...then, we will ALL help you...he he.
re match.com for your son: I do have 2 girls, but sorry, older one is 15, and the fireball is only 11....and I'm just OLD (besides, I have a hubby who looks like...older version of Binnie+Cha Seong Won+ Ji Jin Hee...(did I ever tell you guys I'm not 20/20 in eyesight) You can evaluate him yourself when we meet next year in So Cal, ok ( I will treat you with LOTS of good asian food **wink wink*)

@lovenyc52 Just checked with my fellow NCIS fan in the house (the older daughter)...next week preview- Ziva has trouble reinstating as an agent ....

intra-week update:

You're Beautiful 미남이시네요 ...

It's really, really, really good. The Hong sisters have done it again. Midas touch.

You guys know I don't rave about something unless it's good (e.g., MNKISS, CP, HGD, Bad Family, CH, DJS), and I can say this is good.

Go watch it, wait for the WITHS2 subs (coming out shortly), read javabeans' recap (here: http://www.dramabeans.com/2009/10/youre-beautiful-episode-1/), and watch this drama.

It's really, really good. Good plot, good acting, really cute leads, really fun story, good songs, everything is good so far! The subs will be coming out shortly too!
