My only problem is that Han Yeh-Seul has a somewhat..... cute/comedic (?) image. I can't see the strong and serious face that Sumire has.

I don't think she's a bad actress - not the best, but not the worst either. If the movie wants to be more comedic, than I think Han will do good.

I like Han Ye sul. She pretty, sophisticated. I really enjoyed her performance in Couple in trouble/Fantasy couple. Many were quick to judge her in Will it Snow for Christmas but she proved them wrong.
I like JGS. Love him. I can think of a few others as his leading lady...Kim Min Jung, Yuri, Yoon Hye...good luck to Han if she accepts the offer.

I think she's pretty and she can act well! I just saw 7th Level Civil Servant with her and my boyfriend, Kang Ji Hwan, and I liked her!

From what I've seen in Fantasy Couple and from Sumire's character description, I think maybe HYS can pull it off. Not sure about their chemistry though. I can't imagine them being a couple and all. But, otherwise, I think HYS will be able to deliver. But, I really can't judge because I haven't even seen the original. ^_^

Being a huge fan of Kimi Wo Petto Im pretty happy, HYS could very easily fit the blunt and slightly expressionless girl that was Sumire. You people and you're personal vendetta's against her. The girl's acting is unique, she acts in her own way and honestly I've never had an issue with her acting. Lets not forget WISFC, since ep one all I saw was her being bashed until you all realised that she played her role perfectly, give the girl a break.

Han Ye-Seul's voice is annoying to me. She talks very slowly and sounds like a little kid when she delivers her lines. But I guess we'll see.

(...But on a sidenote, I don't know how someone who was born in the U.S. and had schooling here until college, could have such a thick Korean accent. She sounds like my parents when they speak English!)

Yes, actually, she does. Sumire's character earned her Master's degree from Harvard, and she starts out working in the International News section of the paper, and then later has a full English-speaking staff working under her in later volumes. While this is only touched on in the J-drama through a few (painfully delivered) English lines that Koyuki has in the opening episode, Sumire's English proficiency is a very common topic throughout all 14 volumes of the manga. It's part of what makes her "Elite", and therefore ostracized by so many of her co-workers.

HYS is pretty but not charming in acting , her voice is unpleasant , she makes me hate her character in Will it snow for Christmas , not her please , this drama will be

This is surprising, but I'm looking forward to how it works out. I liked these two together on NonStop 4. The two actors don't seem like an obvious pairing right off the bat, but I think that'll work in favor of the story, since Momo and Sumire are very different from each other at the beginning. What matters is whether they can develop the relationship between the characters within the story. And if HYS looks older than JKS, well, that means she's age-appropriate for the role, since Momo is supposed to be around 20 and Sumire is in her late 20s.

Anyone noticed this current trend in Korean dramas with older women and younger men? Oh, My Lady, Women Still Want to Marry, Personal Taste just to name a few. It's getting boring.

@73 That is because most of the audience in Korea that watches dramas are ahjummas. They want to target that population. Usually youngsters are not into watching dramas. Just like how i get sick of my own country's dramas while other find it precious.

Hmmm...Well I think any actress who takes on this role is going to have to be very elegant and very beautiful to overcome the sheer overdone 'beauty 'of Jang. Just lately he has resorted to outrageous makeup and jewelry, and his costumes are feminine and revealing. It is not the way I want to see an actor.
His character in this drama is supposed to be somewhat simple and somewhat nervous. He should be very natural and I haven't seen Jang look natural for so long that I can hardly remember him as he was in the Beethoven role he played rather well.
Not looking for much from this drama. No matter who the actress is she will be at a disadvantage. This will be a Jang special I fear.

Agree , i don't like romance between young male and older female characters , disgusting , not romantic at all . As women we do have mother / older sister instinct ,
we do not like younger men to pamper , we like mature men to dream to fulfill our dreams . I stop watching those kinds of dramas .My pet will be Jang drama , he will shadow lead actress anyway except this is very talented , charming actress as Ha ji won , my opinion .
Currently i watch Dong Yi , young actress not very beautiful but very cute , charming in acting .

The older woman/younger man is a pretty basic part of the story in this case. I wouldn't want them to change the story to something it's not simply because older women/younger men pairings may be something of a trend at the moment. Also, what matters for me is not the ages of the characters involved but whether I go along for the emotional journey of these individual characters as they fall in love.

I like HYS, and I've never had a problem with her acting. Her voice and face --when lowered --fits perfectly with Sumire's image.
She's A LOT better compared to Han Chae Young. I'm sorry but that lady is so plastic and her acting makes me cringe.
Jang Geun suk is like a man-baby so I can't help but laugh whenever I see his face...especially when he tries to make his voice all low and manly...sigh..

but if HYS accepts, i'll be more than happy to watch this since it'll be an interestign pairing. :D

I'm just hoping that they won't screw this j-turned-k-drama over like they did with BOF.

Yes, Belleza thinks this pairing could work. Better yet, Belleza thinks they should just make "Nonstop Short Cuts" -- all 5 Nonstop shows in one 90 minute Altman-esque movie.

o her eye-jumping-off-her-face is exactly y she's considered super pretty, she's known as a KTH lookalike and to many Koreans KTH is untouchably pretty, prettier than SHK pretty.

HYS is both beautiful and professional...I think she would do justice to this role and the pairing with JGS who was born to act, should be very entertaining...best wishes to both of them...

Sumire is not supposed to be funny, or ditzy; she's the serious one and the foil for momo. He is her pet, she is his master. Sumire is intelligent, cool, frigid and bossy. But underneath her hard exterior, Sumire can be gentle and kind to momo. Han Ye Sul's character in Fantasy Couple is bitchy, wild, loud and too slapstick funny to be the elegant, refine and subtle Sumire. Sumire is not the type of woman to scream and stamp her foot for attention. She kills you with a cold, dismissive look. Han Ye Sul might be able to pull her off if she shows some restraint with the character.

Haven't watched WISFC yet but i enjoyed HYS's character role in Fantasy Couple.

Found her warm and likable in an interesting interview on KBSW Entertainment Weekly last december.

actually i don't really care she would be the lead actress or not..cuz basically i dislike a drama which is talking about 'noona-dongsaeng' love...it's why i'm not so into oh my lady...even i love siwon and i like chaerim...but then..when it's bout noona-dongsaeng love..i better watch other dramas...XD

I personally didn't think that much of the manga to begin with, then watching the live action jdrama series confirmed the "human as a pet" situation really doesn't appeal to me (& I am a huge Matsumoto Jun fan.)

But hey, at least it'll only be a movie. And I suppose anytime I get to see Jang Geun Suk is a good thing xDD So I will endure this (!)

I do get the feeling though they're trying to choose a taller girl since one of the main factors of the story is how Sumire shuns Momo's lack of height. However, acting aside, I think HYS simply looks too young to play the role.
