Oh My Lady: Episode 16 (Final)

Ah, the end is here! I suspect this episode made most if not all fans very happy, as it tied up the plot in a light-hearted but satisfactory way that was in keeping with the tone of the drama. It’s too bad that things didn’t get really compelling until about Episode 10 (then stepped it up with Episode 12 on — incidentally when Yura took a big step backward — coincidence? I think not) — which is frankly rather late for me to be connecting with a drama.

It’s to the actors’ credit that their amusing and sweet interactions were able to carry the plot until the story finally managed to tap into that emotional place with Min-woo’s growth as a father and as a person. I’m just glad that this one ended on a high note, because so many finale episodes feel like a letdown — they’re either too rushed or dragged out as an extended epilogue.

FINAL EPISODE RECAP

Min-woo asks Kae-hwa to be Ye-eun’s mother, explaining that he had purposely waited to ask her until after the musical premiered. Nobody could be as good a mother to Ye-eun as she is, “And I need you. Let’s marry.”

(Omo! Usually when episodes end on cliffhangers, the next episode drops the tension back down, but in this case they just upped the ante.)

Kae-hwa is stunned, but Min-woo adds, “I’m not saying this out of the blue. I’ve thought this over seriously for a long while. Think it over, then give me your answer. I can wait as long as you need.”

Min-woo is invited along for a celebratory drink with The Show Co. staff, and Jae-hee remarks that it feels like Min-woo’s a part of their office family now, seeing as he has come to all their gatherings. Min-woo smiles and, while looking at Kae-hwa, says pointedly, “I think so too. It feels like a family.”

He’s extra solicitous to her, offering little things like napkins and such, which Shi-joon finds amusing while Kae-hwa is exasperated. When the others urge her to drink more, Min-woo swoops in to play the “black knight,” i.e, drink for her.

Min-woo’s behavior is so noteworthy that Jae-hee asks teasingly if their fake scandal is actually real. Kae-hwa blurts, “No!” just as Min-woo answers, “Yes.” (Such a mixed reaction makes the others think there’s more to this relationship than they’re letting on, and they exchange knowing looks.) Kae-hwa rises to leave early because of the kids, and Min-woo hurriedly excuses himself too, accompanying her out.

Kae-hwa is impatient with his exaggerated attentiveness, and says that she’ll give her answer now: “I’m not going to marry again.” He asks her to think about it some more, but she replies that a lot of thought has already gone into making this decision (not to remarry).

A bit indignant, he says it’s cowardly to swear off marriage because her first one failed. Maybe she just met the wrong guy the first time — it’s always possible she’ll meet a good person the second time around.

Kae-hwa replies that she doesn’t want to entertain such an expectation, and besides, she has Min-ji. He counters that a daughter isn’t a husband — and once Min-ji grows up and gets married, will she be fine being alone? That makes her pause briefly, but she reasserts her stance.

Min-woo: “Are you that afraid?”
Kae-hwa: “Yes, I am! Do you know what marriage is?”
Min-woo: “‘What do you know when you have no life experience?’ Is that what you’re telling me?”
Kae-hwa: “You haven’t been hurt so you don’t know. You don’t know what that pain is of promising to love each other for the rest of your life and having that shattered. So please don’t talk to me about marriage again. I’m sorry to say it like this.”

She walks off, leaving him pondering her words.

Kae-hwa’s words make him look deeper into the cause of her resistance. Thus the next morning, he intercepts Byung-hak just as the latter is leaving his house (humming “Sorry Sorry” in a meta moment, lol).

Min-woo gets to the point, asking aggressively what the heck Byung-hak did to Kae-hwa to make her swear off marriage forever. Byung-hak returns that this is hardly his concern, but Min-woo says it matters “because it’s a hindrance to her marrying me.”

Byunk-hak’s reaction is pure confusion: “Why?” Why would he want a woman like Kae-hwa when he’s a star? Min-woo presses on with his question, which elicits a roundabout answer about how she’s a difficult and tiring woman to live with. Min-woo watches with narrowed eyes, reading between the lines — he cheated, huh?

Defensively, Byung-hak turns it around on Kae-hwa, saying she doesn’t know how to make herself pretty; it felt like he was living with a housekeeper. In fact, he never bought even her flowers — not because he forgot or anything, but simply because he never felt inspired to buy them for her. You know, since looks are the only reason for loving a woman and all. (I’m not even offended by this comment, because Byung-hak is such a silly idiot that the sentiment has no sting coming from him.)

Min-woo asks if he ever apologized for hurting her. Byung-hak laughs, saying it’s embarrassing to do that. Min-woo tells him firmly, “Apologize to her. Ask her officially for her forgiveness.” Byung-hak finds this an odd demand coming from Min-woo, who replies, “I’m asking as the man who loves her.”

Now that Min-woo has made up his mind to woo Kae-hwa, he gets busy trying to win her over. For instance, he waits outside her apartment to give the girls a ride to school, and reacts in concern to hear Kae-hwa hasn’t eaten breakfast. After dropping off the girls, he takes her to a fancy buffet, where he even serves her.

Kae-hwa worries over the pricy food, trying to convince him to watch his spending because he must have lost a lot of money in the cancelled endorsement deals. Min-woo answers matter-of-factly that they probably add up to about 3 billion won ($2.5 million), but is unfazed. He’s got money in the bank and is confident he can get more work; he’ll consider this a luxurious hiatus from work.

Unimpressed, Kae-hwa urges him to adopt a frugal attitude and says she’s better off than he is, since at least she has a regular salary.

At work, a huge arrangement of red roses is delivered, addressed to Kae-hwa from Min-woo. While the other employees all smile at her knowingly, Kae-hwa tries to explain it away in innocent terms: “Can’t this be a thank-you?” They don’t buy it for a second.

Min-woo sends her a text, which is totally over-the-top and ridiculous (“More beautiful than a flower… Kae-hwa”). Embarrassed and uncomfortable, Kae-hwa says she’ll clear the flowers out of the office and takes them to the stairwell, thinking Min-woo is being shameless. But they do bring a smile to her face, as it’s been ages since she’s received flowers from anyone (which is why Min-woo made the gesture in the first place, in reaction to Byung-hak’s remark).

Next, Min-woo takes a cake to Bok-nim in thanks for treating Ye-eun, then asks for a favor, as she is a friend to Kae-hwa. His statement that “I’m intending to marry Yoon Kae-hwa” so shocks her that Bok-nim drops her coffee and stares at him incredulously.

Bok-nim rushes to ask Kae-hwa about it, wanting to know when the wedding is. She dismisses Kae-hwa’s grumbling that he’s just a kid — 28 is plenty grown-up, and the seven-year age difference is nothing. How can she let a guy like him slip through her fingers?

Kae-hwa grumbles that Min-woo’s proposal asked her to be Ye-eun’s mother, not his wife. Bok-nim sees through Kae-hwa’s complaining and smiles: “You really do like Min-woo.” That’s why she’s disappointed over the wording of his proposal, right? Bok-nim waves aside her resistance, saying that if they like each other, what’s the big deal? In her eyes, Min-woo is serious about her.

Min-woo takes the family out to a nice restaurant. Kae-hwa is self-conscious about coming to a place like this where they’ll be watched, but Min-ji enjoys eating out for once, and Min-woo tells her that it doesn’t matter to him. He pats Ye-eun on the head, saying, “I’m going to raise her proudly, since she’s my daughter.” Which is probably the most effective thing he could have said to impress her, and she allows herself to look at him with moony eyes (but only when he’s not looking back at her).

When Kae-hwa takes Ye-eun to the bathroom, Min-woo tries to make conversation with Min-ji. He sees this as a chance to suss out her thoughts and asks if she’d like having a sister like Ye-eun. Min-ji is pretty sharp and asks point-blank, “Are you going to marry my mother?” Her bluntness takes him by surprise, but he confides that he wants to. Still, he has to first hear out Min-ji’s opinion and wait for her mother’s answer.

She asks, “If you end up marrying my mother and then a prettier lady comes along, are you going to divorce my mom?” Min-woo gapes incredulously, but Min-ji points out that he works with beautiful actresses all the time: “If you betray my mother, it’ll be so sad for her.”

He tells her solemnly, “That’ll never happen. I’ll promise that to you.” They pinky-swear on it.

The musical continues its run and after another of Min-woo’s performances, he calls Kae-hwa, who is working late — or at least, she lies that she is. He offers to pick her up from the office, but for whatever reasons (fear, insecurity, nerves), Kae-hwa rejects the offer.

Reporter Han overhears Min-woo muttering to himself after the call, and says knowingly that he must be stuck in an unrequited love. Min-woo is wary, but Reporter Han has some insights about the situation, and his comments pique Min-woo’s curiosity. Wanting to hear more thoughts on his situation, Min-woo goes along with the reporter’s suggestion to grab a drink.

Kae-hwa works late, keeping herself busy to avoid going home right away. Finding her still in the office, Shi-joon offers her a ride home, and they pause for a break to talk. Tentatively, Kae-hwa says she hopes that he and his wife can give things another try, as it seems they still care for each other. Although Shi-joon doesn’t respond, he’s not offended by her statement and in fact seems to consider her words.

He turns the topic to Min-woo, asking how things are between them. Kae-hwa can’t feign ignorance since Shi-joon knows too much, but first she asks how much he knows. He answers, “One person is sending flowers, but the other person doesn’t seem ready to receive them.”

She confirms that Min-woo seems to be serious about a relationship but she’s not sure; she doesn’t feel confident that she can be seen “as a woman” to anybody. Shi-joon tells her she can — enough that he felt something for her for a short while. This stuns her, as he had never given any hint of his interest, but Shi-joon assures her that there is no cause for alarm. He has dealt with his feelings, and things won’t get awkward between them.

Liquor loosens Min-woo’s reserve (and his tongue) enough that he starts to talk freely about his woes, wondering how Kae-hwa can reject his proposal. Grabbing his laptop, the reporter starts to take notes, asking questions about why she rejected him and how long he’s had feelings for her. And I love Min-woo’s answer:

Min-woo: “Since we went looking for Ye-eun. No — since she had to go to the sauna because of me. No — since she fought with Mr. Jung [Yoon-seok]. Or was it from the beginning?”

Reporter Han says he must like her quite a lot, and Min-woo answers, “Yes, an awful lot. She’s different from the women I dated in the past. She’s beautiful. That’s why I think, ‘This is my woman.'” With that, he falls asleep, his head coming to rest on the tabletop.

Huh — well, this is a new side to Min-woo, and the reporter finds him pretty pure-hearted after all. It’s nothing like the partying image he’d had earlier. He starts typing a story about Min-woo’s “heartfelt love story” and uses words like “rebirth as a real actor.”

Han’s article spawns a wave of press, which now portrays Min-woo in a much more down-to-earth, humanistic light. They even declare that he has now washed off the disgrace of his former image as a lousy actor.

Yoon-seok is dissatisfied — I guess this good press does him no good, since he has lost his hold on Min-woo — but everyone else’s opinion of Min-woo makes a drastic upswing. He presents himself modestly in interviews, and even producer Eom is impressed with him. In fact, Eom gives himself credit for having recognized Min-woo’s talents early on, but Byung-hak scoffs since he didn’t do anything about them. Eom counters that he’ll get Min-woo for his next production.

Eom isn’t the only one wanting to cast Min-woo, and Shi-joon conveys an offer to Min-woo from a Japanese producer colleague, who has sent a proposal for Min-woo to take a role in a Japanese drama. Min-woo is pleased with the news, but as soon as he sees that he’d have to live in Japan for a year, he declines. Shi-joon thinks it’s a great opportunity, but Min-woo answers that he has somebody to watch over here.

And that’s not all: Jae-hee hands Kae-hwa some documents to give to Min-woo, which are papers for a new advertising contract offer worth 1 billion won (nearly $1 million). Apparently advertisers love his new image as a dedicated young single father.

Kae-hwa takes the documents to Min-woo’s photo shoot, where he takes a break from posing for a makeup touchup. The makeup artist tells him that his “scandal partner” (Kae-hwa) is really below his level, and offers to introduce him to a younger model friend. She describes the girl as one of those innocent-looking beauties, to which Min-woo answers, “I like sexy women.”

Naturally this is hardly thrilling for Kae-hwa to hear, even though Min-woo is actually making that quip as a way to reject the date. (Rather than saying no outright, saying that he prefers sexy women is a way of declining her friend, who is the opposite.)

Feeling dispirited, Kae-hwa decides not to approach and starts to leave. She runs into Yura, who congratulates her on her relationship and assures her that she has decided to move on.

Kae-hwa hands the envelope to Yura and asks for her to give it to Min-woo, making up the excuse that she’s busy and has to leave. Yura does, and when Min-woo hears the reason, he hurries out and tries to call Kae-hwa. Alas she isn’t answering the phone, so he goes to the theater, where he is told she is still back at the office.

Shi-joon finds her on the roof ignoring Min-woo’s phone call, and offers her a beer. In her melancholy mood, Kae-hwa offers to tell Shi-joon a “really funny story” and confides that Min-woo proposed to her. Even funnier is the fact that her heart thrilled to hear it. It was exciting to be seen as a woman again — but today, that feeling was shattered.

I’d assumed she was hurt by the makeup stylist’s dismissive comments about her, but I’m actually relieved that those words weren’t the cause of her mood. In actuality, it was the sight of him in action, looking like a star, that made her feel like they were completely unsuited for each other: “He seemed like someone from another land.”

Shi-joon points out that Min-woo was a star from the start — it’s not like she didn’t know. Kae-hwa answers that at the beginning, he had nothing to do with her so that wasn’t an issue. But as they got to know each other, she saw him struggling and felt sorry for him, and nagged him when he said silly things — and those things felt comfortable and manageable. Now that he’s doing better… it’s like he’s back to being a lofty star and the chasm is growing between them.

Shi-joon tells her that Min-woo likes her very much — enough to give up a drama opportunity for her. “Min-woo has changed this much — shouldn’t you recognize his feelings?”

Min-woo arrives at the office to find it empty, then recalls the roof. He arrives outside just in time to see Kae-hwa wiping away some tears. So much about this situation upsets him, and he strides up to her, grabs her wrist (urg!), and takes her downstairs.

He feels hurt that she has been ignoring his calls and avoiding him, particularly when she knew he was waiting for her — and now she’s here crying in front of Shi-joon — and raises his voice to a yell. Kae-hwa tells him levelly that she has already given him her reply, but he ignored it. No matter how she thinks about it, they don’t suit.

He argues that if he cared about those things — age, status — he would never have liked her from the start. She returns that this is just proof that he’s young, and they should quit while they’re ahead. And he should go to Japan.

That gets his attention: “Is that why?” He explains that he didn’t tell her about the Japan offer because he never intended to go. She takes issue with his high-handedness in dragging her away, saying that she’s ashamed of him when he does that, and gets angry and starts fights out of misunderstandings.

Min-woo asks, “So are you saying you can’t marry me? Are you saying I won’t do because I’m immature and young?” Kae-hwa answers yes. She can’t marry someone who reacts in such unpredictable ways — it makes her feel uneasy. She storms off, leaving him to shout her name in frustration.

You know, I’m actually relieved that they had this fight. They’ve never fought for real, and this addresses issues that they’ve been skirting thus far. It’s also nice to see some real conflict — genuine emotional clashing and hurt feelings — rather than the glib, fluffy sort of conflict that has characterized most of this show.

That night, Byung-hak calls Kae-hwa, who finds him drunk and in a thoughtful mood. To her surprise, he tells her, “I’m sorry.” He acknowledges that he never apologized properly, so he’s doing it now. She did nothing wrong — he’s the bad guy — and they divorced because he wronged her. But he felt too embarrassed to apologize, so he couldn’t do it: “But after listening to Sung Min-woo, I felt I was really wrong, and that I had to apologize. So I came here.”

That surprises her — he met Min-woo? Byung-hak gives Min-woo some credit for the way he had insisted he apologize, admitting that the kid was pretty impressive with the way he said, “As the man who loves Yoon Kae-hwa, please apologize.”

He says it one more time: “Kae-hwa, I’m sorry. I was wrong. I pushed you aside and hurt your feelings — forgive me for everything. Forget that all, and make a new start. And if he upsets you, come and tell me right away, and I’ll give him a scolding.”

(Aww. An unexpectedly touching moment from Byung-hak. As with the last time he defended Kae-hwa, this gives us a glimpse into why they were married in the first place while also showing us why they didn’t work. It’s rare to see ex-spouses in a drama ending on amicable terms, and it’s a nice change.)

Min-woo comes home feeling frustrated, and looks over his drama proposal documents. This gives him an idea, and he starts typing away. And when we see what he’s drafting — gahhh, Min-woo is so cute. I about died reading the title of his document: “Proposal On Living For Yoon Kae-hwa.”

In the morning, he comes to her apartment and gives her the envelope. He looks at her with puppy dog eyes and tells her to give her response after reading it.

Kae-hwa reads Min-woo’s proposal, which is formatted like a business document. In keeping with the theme of the drama proposal packet, he has drawn up Kae-hwa’s resumé, only it’s more like a life resumé than a professional one, outlining her traits and skills such as “she has a loud voice,” “makes killer ddukbokki and kimbap,” and “she likes Kim Myung-min better than Sung Min-woo, but I want to forgive her anyway.” Also of note: she has become a mother to Ye-eun, “and now is the woman in my heart.”

Under the “future plans” column, he has scheduled marriage in a month, a vacation cruise to celebrate their one-year anniversary, and so forth. Byung-hak’s apology had started to melt her resolve, and now she has to smile a teeny bit at Min-woo’s document.

Jung-ah has been offered a job in Daejeon, which is located in central Korea and about a two-hour drive from Seoul. She asks Shi-joon for his approval, suggesting that they need some space between them. As she leaves, she tells him that she realizes she hasn’t been the best wife to him either (I presume she means before the adultery, since otherwise that statement would be met with a resounding DUH).

But the door isn’t closed on them forever — with Shi-joon now opening up more to Jung-ah and realizing his part in driving his wife away, it looks like they’re leaving room for a reconciliation later, after they’ve both healed. Shi-joon even says he’ll go down to visit her on the weekend.

Min-woo performs another show, after which he checks his phone and tries to contain his disappointment that Kae-hwa hasn’t called. To his (happy) surprise, Kae-hwa finds him sitting in the empty theater, here with a much more conciliatory attitude than the last time they saw each other.

As we know, important conversations must always relocate to prettier environs (can you imagine that car ride over to the waterside? Most awkward silence ever).

Kae-hwa apologizes for her harsh words, telling Min-woo that she didn’t mean it when she pushed him away. She asks for his understanding and also thanks him for thinking of her life and her future (i.e., in his proposal) in such a serious way.

Min-woo has been looking pensive and tense throughout her speech, like he’s bracing himself, sensing that she’s ready to deliver her final decision. So it takes a moment for her next words to really sink in, as she tells him:”So I’m thinking of being courageous now. Thanks to you, I think I can do that now.”

She adds that she’d always thought she would just focus on being a solid support for Min-ji’s benefit, “But if things get hard, it’s okay if lean on someone now.” Min-woo smiles and steps forward to hug her gently, thanking her for her answer. Kae-hwa thanks him back for letting her be courageous again.

Min-woo then thanks her for watching over him and Ye-eun all this while. He promises that from now on, he’ll protect her.

And then they get the swirly-camera kiss — which is a nice way to bookend the drama, considering that this is very similar to how we started. Only, now it actually means something.

The end!

COMMENTS

I picked up Oh My Lady because (1) when it started I had the time, as none of the current Wednesday-Thursday shows had premiered yet and I had no other recap commitments, (2) I had just finished its timeslot predecessor Wish Upon a Star, which was a happy surprise, and therefore anticipated a similar tone for this one, and (3) I wanted to keep up the watching and recapping momentum. There’s also (4) the matter of loving Chae Rim (and wanting her to pick a more enjoyable project than her last, Good Job, Good Job) and (5) the fact that I had pegged Choi Siwon as an idol-star-turned-actor to watch out for after Story of Hyang Dan back in ’07. (See? There IS some thought that goes into these decisions, however random the choices may ultimately seem!)

About halfway through the drama, however, I found my interest flagging, but not enough to drop the show. Even the less interesting episodes were easy to watch, and it wasn’t a challenging show in either theme or plot, so keeping up wasn’t too much of a hardship. I did, however, start thinking that if the actual plot development got any SLOWER, I would seriously consider dropping it.

Ultimately I’m glad I stuck with the show, and the last four episodes in particular gave me a sense of satisfaction about the drama as a whole. It turned into a different drama than the one it originally seemed — which pointed at the hijinks of a star falling for his ajumma maid/manager — and focused much more on Min-woo’s development as a father than as a romantic partner. I don’t think the romance came out of nowhere, but it wasn’t a priority, and that was actually refreshing.

I won’t call Choi Siwon a brilliant actor — he’s pretty decent, but he’s still got a long way to go if he’s going to keep pursuing an acting career, and I think he should — so rather than pure acting skills, it’s his personal charm that carries the character. I mean, just look at that smile, right?

It doesn’t hurt that he’s perfectly cast — image isn’t everything, but it’s a pretty significant part of how we approach a character. And when you cast a star to play a star, you’ve always got that benefit of the audience’s meta awareness of the actor’s real-life fame. (Also see: Choi Ji-woo in A Star’s Lover, Rain in Full House, Jang Geun-seok in You’re Beautiful, Kim Ah-joong in Accidental Couple.)

It was a leetle disappointing to have so little screentime for the two girls in the last episode, but we’ve seen enough of the Cute in previous episodes that I was content to let this finale be Min-woo and Kae-hwa’s exclusively. (Well, there were a few Shi-joon and Jung-ah moments, but I choose to skip right over them in my mind. Yawn. I’m satisfied, story-wise, with where they ended, but don’t need to dwell any longer on them.)

And then there’s Chae Rim. To be honest, I don’t think this is the best vehicle for her, even though the drama really benefits from having her in it. Therefore I’m glad for the drama’s sake, but she’s an actress whose talents weren’t fully used here — particularly since her character was less developed than Min-woo’s, and hardly changed at all. She made the most of it, tapping into a vulnerable side of Kae-hwa that gave the character a hint of depth. But I hope to see her tackling something more challenging in the future, and something out of the ajumma mold, as she’s done two in a row.

All in all, Oh My Lady was a sweet, cute series that could be a fun way to spend a breezy weekend with some unchallenging but personable characters, and that will leave you smiling at the end.

Hi to all my OML hoodies -

@Amy - Hey, my brother used to live off of Aliamanu St. Wow, Virginia Beach is a ways away from Hawaii but glad you make it back here on occasion. That'd be fun to get together - we of the same OML/KDAS mind!

Thanks for the links, Belle. Yeah, not shaky like some, thank goodness. Those make me seasick...

Here's a link I found funny while amongst the SS3 fancam stuff. Reminds me of when I was a kid and would sometimes watch Hit Parade on the Japanese channel (same kind of music).

Hello OML Angels :)

I am back from my limited internet vacation. It was horrible to be w/o access :)

Hope everyone is doing well.

@Mel: Thanks! Always good to spread more love for Siwonnie, since he's such an adorable person ^^

They filmed parts of Athena during the SMTOWN concert, but I think it was just Boa and Jung Woo Seong. The Siwonest on Soompi have posted a lot of pix from the SMTOWN and SS3 concerts in Siwon's fan thread if you want to take a look :)

OML Angels...ooops forget one of the reasons I posted is finding this video of Wax's Oppa sung by SNSD's Taeyon, it's got English and Romanized subs, the lyrics are quite telling of the future KH and MW relationship.... quite a reminder of how cheerful Chae Rim emphasized the lyrics when she sung it to gloomy SiWon... (I don't think anyone posted this yet but if they did just enjoy again....) Ohh yeah, SUJU sibling KangIn is in the video too... recorded at a radio station:

Greetings all!

Seems like it's been a little slow lately, everybody busy with the day-to-day grind of life. Glad that the diehards are pretty much still here and commenting (fighting!), and a warm welcome to the new additions to the family!

@Ace - Where ya been, sis? When is SS3 Manila? (Guess I could find out some other way, but I'd rather bug you about it.)

@wulan - Thanks for the info. I did a search on Yesasia and didn't find the Chinese subbed OML, but I must have done something wrong. Either case, yeah, I'll just wait (impatiently) like most of us.

Forgot to mention when I went to the Korean store that when I asked the store lady if she had an idea when it'd be coming out, she said around mid September. So, soon...

@Lacus - I'm on Soompi now and visit on occasion. Is that you I see commenting? I'm there as...you have one guess...omlady!

And yeah, Mel, gorgeous pics of the Siwon man. Reminds me of those teasing him on Strong Heart about every look or pose of him being as if he's doing a magazine spread. He's got a knack for modeling, what can I (he) say?

@Mel - Thanks for the "Oppa" link. You're right about the words being "telling" of their relationship.

And speaking of music, it being a love of mine, I tried to pay attention to the songs played in the background on OML to see if they had some connection or significance to the story or the goings on in the story at the time. For the most part, as far as I could tell from the lyrics I know of the songs, they are not deeply significant, but parallels could be made, though some by a stretch.

They did have somewhat of an impact on me, for sure. As an example, when Min Woo is driving in his car and grooving to "Halo" by Beyonce, it made me remember how much I like that song, and so I've been playing it and singing it since (several times a week, at least).

Also, when they played IZ's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at the restaurant at the show's celebration afterparty when Min Woo is especially attentive to Kae Hwa's needs, I had to give a "woot woot" and token because-I'm-Min Woo hand pump for the Hawaiian bruddah singing it.

And since we're (okay, I'm) on the subject of music, a while back I was listening to one of my Sammy Kershaw CDs and one song in particular caught my attention because it made me think of Min Woo and Kae Hwa. It's country (but not the twangy kind), and I thought I might include the words here:

Fit to be Tied Down

This ain't hoops, this ain't hopscotch, this ain't dodgeball in the sand lot.
This ain't cards - it's our hearts we're dealing with now.
No more games for me, girl, I'm fit to be tied down.

I've lost in love, got some bruises, but the heart that don't give up never really loses.
Since I met you, it don't make sense to keep on playing around.
Anyone can see I'm fit to be tied down.

Tie me down, wrap me up in forever. I've found something sweet in surrender.
And now, take me off of this merry-go-round.

Going 'round in circles has got me nowhere, but a love like yours is really so rare, and I'm amazed at the treasure I've finally found.
I'm on bended knee 'cause I'm fit to be tied down.

---Have a great day, OML angels!

@kappy, hello...what a really fitting--really perfect song for MW to KH, he did sorta beg her to be with him, wanted to be with his little family... and for Oppa--well, KH didn't beg but luckily she did fall for him in the end.... thanks...

Hello OML hood!

In case you haven't read it, Siwon & Donghae will be in the Taiwanese version of Skip Beat called Magnificent Challenge. I have mixed feelings about this. Love Siwon, but I'm afraid that they will dub the voices....ergh. Siwon would definitely fit the character of Tsuruga Ren though. Ren's character from the manga: Tall, handsome, cool, and a model/actor with insane good looks. (Sounds like our Siwonnie in real life. XD)
http://sup3rjunior.wordpress.com/2010/08/26/siwon-donghae-confirmed-for-taiwan-idol-drama/

@Mel: Yep, and preparing to leave for California next week :). It's always good to share lovely pix of the adorable Siwonnie :) You can reach me at mariantvt@gmail dot com (spaces and wording for dot so that it won't be hotlinked ^^)

@Wulan: Thanks for the info! They need to sell it with English subs, though T__T

@kappy: Yep, that's me. The other half and I took note of the songs playing in the background during the OML scenes. They really fit the situation.

During the scene where Min Woo is telling the Shi Joon that he couldn't leave Korea for Japan because he had to take care of someone, the background song was "She"

@610 kappy: the latest news about SS3 schedule is this:

http://mykiru.blogspot.com/2010/08/super-junior-show-3-concert-schedule.html

Don't know if those are confirmed dates.

Saw an original OML DVD in yesasia but it's the Taiwan version so it doesn't have English subtitles. =(

Still lurking and reading JB & GF's new posts but between my watching MGIAG, Hotaru no Hikari, Mr. Brain, & Criminal Minds, plus reading books and playing w/ my new toy (iPod) {been downloading lots of mp3s & mp4s}, I don't even have time to post in FB, Twitter, or answer a message from a potential penpal. ;)

Salutations to all in the OML hood/haven -

@Lacus - Yup, I did read that about Siwon and Donghae being in "Magnificent Challenge". Was it early next year they'll start filming? If so, I am hoping these two really crack down on the Mandarin so they won't have to be dubbed. I want to hear their (esp. Siwon's) voice(es). I mean, they have a wonderful head start being that they're in Super Junior M. And don't they list Mandarin as one of Siwon's languages (enough that he speaks it pretty well)? English is one of his listed languages also, and he's pretty decent in that. I think the name of the drama is appropriate in that hopefully he takes it as a challenge like the bull he can be and conquer!

Wow, you and your other half took notes of the background songs? You're better than me! I remember "She" playing in the background. Good observation. When you have time, lay them on us. This inquiring mind wants to know. Some of mine are as follows:

Justin Bieber's "Baby" when Yu Ra is driving. I don't know if she was Min Woo's first love, but she was/is a major contender.

ABBA's "Winner Takes It All" at after-musical pupu buffet. Between Min Woo and irritating ex, the winner gets Kae Hwa?

Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" in final epi when Min Woo is modeling. Kae Hwa is thinking that this might be a bad romance?

@Mel - Yeah, I thought that about the song, too. He's not a youngster anymore. He has matured and is ready to take on a wife and daughter 100%!

@Ace - Good to hear from you. Wow, you are busy. Didn't really SS3 Manila was that far into the future. But then, I'm glad, because with all the traveling those guys are doing (esp. our Siwon), they must get some mean jet lag. As others, I am always wishing for their good health.

I want to want MGIAG also. The way JB seems to see it, that show can do no wrong. Intrigues me enough to check it out.

Well, take care, and talk with you later!

Hey Kappy, wishing and hoping that the ending of MGIAG would be like OML so I would enjoy it more. So far, it's delivering. Lee Seung Ki is not CSW but I'm loving the female lead Shin Minah. The most adorable and lovable among the Hong sisters' female leads. The only Hong sisters drama I haven't watched yet is Hong Gil Dong.

@Ace - Hey, only watched a few minutes of MGIAG and I'm liking it already. I've seen about half of Hong Gil Dong, then had trouble watching it (on mysoju) so quit. Watched it for Jang Geun Suk. The female lead had her lovable moments, but mostly, she bugged me. Not an overwhelming mostly, but enough for me to drop it when I hit a snag. I don't know much about gumihos (okay, I know practically nothing about them), but I agree with you - Shin Minah is adorable as such. Oh, how will it end? Happily, I hope, however happily romantic, comedic gumiho dramas can end, that is.

And (to whoever watched it) did Coffee House deliver? It started out well, from what I've read but seemed to fizzle at the end? I'm curious. No essays required. I feel bad enough I'm taking up precious OML space.

Okay...back to OML. I was watching the last epi. when Kae Hwa ran into Yu Ra after observing Min Woo in top star mode (loved him in that black suit!), and Yu Ra, as part of her congrats to KH for dating MW, said it was enough for her to have been his first love. I just bring that up because I'd forgotten she was (or thought herself to be) his first love. (First love vs. one-of-his loves.) Thus, the significance of the Justin Bieber song "Baby". You all probably caught that and I'm being slow!

@kappy - haven't watched yet the last episode of Coffee House (but read JB's recap), and though I didn't feel a connection like I did with OML, I really liked Ham Eun-jung who played Kang Ji Hwan's secretary. Park Si Yeon improved a lot too (I liked her clothes!). It's worth a try. Not as frustrating as Personal Taste (if you could just change your ending, Show). ;)

Still deciding if I'm going to watch I Am Legend (since JB or GF's not recapping this, it doesn't exactly induce me to watch it, you know - no offense to kaedejun).

I've downloaded SuJu's first album, their single "U", their collaboration with DBSK (Show Me Your Love), some of their live tracks (during fanmeetings), and solo tracks from kdrama soundtracks.

Still waiting for my order of God Bless Siwon towels from Sakurakhyuk who went to watch SS3 in Soeul. =)

@wulan - So you've rewatched OML already? Tell us your favorite parts. Inquiring minds want to know. We've discussed ours but never tire of hearing and talking about that subject.

I don't think I've brought this up before, but one of my favorite parts was at the end of epi 5 when Min Woo enters his condo and walks in on the manager preparing to "teach Kae Hwa a lesson" after Kae Hwa defends Min Woo.

The seriousness with which Min Woo tells his manager to let go of Kae Hwa was so indicative of what he had come to feel for this woman. After Min Woo's second demand to release her ("I said, let go"), I was all melty and could not wait until the next episode. Chivalry is not dead, how romantic, etc., etc., I thought. Of course, many more favorite scenes were to follow.

To all - Today (yesterday, Aug. 30) there was a press conference for Athena. Siwon looked strapping as usual. I'll look for links and try to include here. If someone else can get it faster, that'd be great.

Take care, OML hoodie/haveneers!

OMLHood Angels HI!!–Ace, Amy, Belle, Doraemon, enjoydrama, Kappy, Lacus, Lumi, luvthisdrama, Menci, Wendy, Wulan, Vhlad, am still lurking, yes... it's slow but I see Kappy and Ace are keeping everything alive... this will go on...

Well SMTown is on this Sat, Lacus and I will meet up and eyeball Sibrows with his chocoabs with the rest of the SUJU siblings that includes Henry and Zhoumi--yey, Lacus I looking forward to your pics and videos with that awesome camera!!!...

Today in Siwon's Soompi fan site--Wendy gave her permission to share her translation (@Baidu.Choisiwon) on Siwon's interview via a Japanese article on OML, SUJU life:

Siwon's interview with the Japanese magazine, I translated from the Chinese version translated from Japanese by Baidu.choisiwon. However I only did the questions which I personally thought were interesting :
Q :Kissing scenes in Oh My Lady was hot topic ..
SW : Opening scene in Episode 1, I had to kiss (actress' name) and I was nervous because I had met her first time. But being a man, I could not show my anxiety.(laughed) Luckily there were fans present and I proved that I had no 'other' intentions towards her. Then that scene of kissing Chaerim noona in front of the refrigerator. Because I got to know her quite well, so I was not nervous..keke..it was work..(laughed)
Q : Have you thought of starting a family ?
SW: Have not considered when (at what age) should I marry. Nothing to do with age. When I have the confidence to be a good father, good husband, good son-in law, good son..then I would marry.
Q : In drama, you bared upper body?
SW: In the script..'chocolate abs' was listed. So I had to exercise. Once filming started, there was no time to do it. Therefore the scenes of my 'abs' were shot beforehand, in early stage. Where I stripped off my shirt in 5th episode, I sacrificed sleep to exercise. In 2 weeks I lost 8 to 9 kilos. But losing weight too fast, I also gained back immediately.
Q : Shooting drama and SJ activities, very busy ?
SW: Straight filming for 48 days without a day of rest. Towards the end of drama, I was also working on the album, dance practise, album recording, MV and cover shoot of album. Slept for only one hour and then had to rehearse dancing. Two nights of MV making without sleep (laughed). At the same time, I had to prepare for the stage performances in the drama. And I contracted throat inflammation, but no time to go to hospital. After the drama ended, only then did I undergo surgery.
Q : Does Siwon the idol and 'Min woo' differ a lot?
SW: If my having a lover (girlfriend) is exposed by the media, I think I will reveal. Because I have the confidence to say "No need to hide my love". I do not have to hide it because my fans understand me.
Q : Because you are not concerned about fans' reactions ?
SW: I am not sure about fans of SJ, my own fans will understand me. Because they are all honest people. (laughed) In SJ, only my fans and Shindong's fans..at airport or during activities, even our hyung managers do not block us. The fans do not surge (rush) towards us. It's like some obstacle..they will keep a distance.
Q :Your impressions of Japanese fans ?
SW: Personally I pay a lot of attention to Japanese culture. Because I grew up reading manga and watching dramas. Japanese fans tend to hide their emotions, will not express unconditionally. In the beginning, I thought, "Not interested in me?" However, those stuff that even SJ members do not know about, the fans can remember long forgotten issues. Amazing. They like me for being so courteous. Touching on this topic, I heard there are not many Christians in Japan. Given a chance, I'd like to organise a Christian activity in Japan. During SJ's Japanese concert, hyung manager even took me to a church.
My apology for not translating the whole interview
add:
Q : Your feelings on working with Chaerim?
SW: Chaerim noona is really the greatest actress. Always compensating for my incompetence. Truly fortunate.
Q : How did you get along with child actress Ryubin (name)who played Ye-un ?
SW: Even just sitting still, she's so adorable. And I like children (laughed) This time round in filming, what I gained the most was to understand the feelings of parents. As such, I wished to do something for Ye-un. On Children's Day..that day I gave Ryu-bin a school bag and sunglasses as gifts.
Q : Ideal girl ?
SW : I like a girl whose pretty looks are 'clear'. With ability to see probable crystal clear visions of other people, to see ahead and be understanding. To know how to compromise and also be good to parents. To make my parents happy is my biggest joy in life. Because there are my parents..then there is me. My father is my good role model.
Q : What was atmosphere during filming :
SW : I was thinking, "Will I be able to work with this kind of crew and director again ? Laughing at start and laughing at end of work. I was the youngest, acted 'aegyo' (cute) and made the atmosphere lively. Although the anxious tight schedules made us all tired, I made a funny face, cracked a joke to make everyone happy. In actual fact, I am not this type of person (laughed)
Q : As an actor, what roles would you like to challenge ?
SW: Not a policeman, prosecutor or a student..these are stereotyped roles. Would like those traumatic roles and such works.
Q : Any Siwon's opinions or ideas in the acting?
SW : In the drama..that scene, after deciding to abandon Ye-un, Min Woo returned to his room and was heavily troubled. I asked myself, "How to express (convey) Min Woo's inner turmoil so that viewers could understand him ? I thought of using Ye-un's doll to help out. However, Min Woo's personality was such that he could not possibly place Ye-un's doll, clothes and school bag in his room. And then there was this taped recording of Ye-un's performance in the kindagarten. Used this to convey Min Woo's troubled mind.
Q : First lead role..lots of attention, any pressure ?
SW: Pressure..huge pressure. It was extreme important period of time for SJ..and I was only one to return to drama acting, big pressure for me. Luckily netizens, viewers and the press media came to watch..it was fortunate.
Translated into Chinese from Japanese by hanahuahwa @Baidu.choisiwon

Athena news :)

Will ‘Athena’ Exceeds Popularity of ‘IRIS’?

Posted Image

The spy-action drama “IRIS Season 2 - Athena: Goddess of War,” in which actor Jung Woo sung and actress Soo Ae will appear as the male and female protagonists, will be broadcast from this coming winter in December on SBS. The drama is a spin-off of the original “IRIS” drama and it is based on the original story of the KBS drama “IRIS,“ which had aired last year on KBS. “Athena: Goddess of War” is very similar to the original “IRIS” as the production company Taewon Entertainment, which had produced “IRIS,” will also produce this drama, and it has been equipped with an all-star cast and large-scale action and melodramatic storyline. But the backdrop of the drama has been expanded from the Korean peninsula and Asian countries into the whole world, and the relationships among cast members have become more complicated.

“Athena: Goddess of War” will depict espionage activities of members of the National anti-Terror Service (NTS), the same organization in “IRIS,” fighting against the secret organization named “Athena” concerning the new energy source “TWR.” The drama has become a hot topic as actors who used to appear in movies, such as Jung Woo Sung, Cha Seung Won, and Soo Ae, have been cast as the main protagonists, and it already has begun filming from last June in six different countries including Italy and Japan.

In the preview, which was released in the showcase event held at the Garden stage in Lotte World on August 30, the scenes depicting an explosion and gunfight, which reminded viewers of action movies, filmed in Italy were unveiled to the viewers.

Actor Jung Woo Sung will make a comeback to the small screen after a fifteen-year break since his dramas “1.5” and “Asphalt Man” in 1995. He will play the elite special agent named Lee Jung Woo who will confront the huge shadowy conspiracy. Jung Woo has been transferred from the National Intelligence Service to the NTS, which is the special organization preventing any crisis with international undertakings, as he had been recognized for his excellent strategic performance during his work. At NTS, he meets his former colleague Yoon Hye In (Soo Ae), whom he once loved, and becomes confused after finding out that Hye In had been involved in a secret organization within NTS. In the showcase, Jung Woo Sung said, “In this drama, I have to present both a love story and an action performance. While I had been searching for my next work, I had been informed that this drama was under planning, so I willingly decided to appear in this drama because I thought that it would be a good opportunity to participate in producing a good drama.”

Actor Cha Seung Won will play the heartless character Sohn Hyuk, the head of the branch office of the United States Department of Homeland Security in East Asia, and he also leads the secret organization “Athena,” and confronts Jung Woo Sung in the drama. Cha Seung Won said, “The role that I play is a so-called villain who forms an alignment with a third force to hatch a wicked plot. But as the story of the drama develops, the character will be changed dramatically. This drama is a spy action drama like “IRIS,” but it will contain more various scenes to enjoy watching and it will present a more complicated storyline with various characters. It is not just a simple spy action drama, but a more interesting and exciting spy action drama.”

Actress Soo Ae has shown her pure and graceful beauty so far, will this time transform into a cold-blooded spy. The character whom she will play is a double agent, Yoon Hye In, who belongs to the National anti-Terror Service (NTS) as a profiler and also takes a role within a secret organization as a special agent. She is a character who locks a secret away in her mind. Soo Ae said, “I really enjoyed watching ‘IRIS.’ I had confidence in performing action scenes, and I received the casting request at an appropriate time.”

Actress Lee Ji Ah will play a special agent, Han Jae Hee, who is a colleague of Yoon Hye In. She hides her feelings of love towards Jung Woo, and has to have an inevitable confrontation with Yoon Hye In. Lee explained about the character, whom she will play, by saying, “She is a very rational and thorough person when performing her work, but at the same time, she is very honest in expressing her love.” She added, “I worry, as I heard that my action looked too bloody and spiteful, but actually I had taken much care about performing action scenes not to receive an evaluation saying female actor’s action scenes look too weak.”

Actor Kim Min Jong, who will play a former North Korean intelligence agent coming from a rich labor party named Kim Ki Soo, said, “Kim Ki Soo is a very freewheeling character with manly charms and charisma. There was no indication about a North Korean dialect on the script, but I tried to express the language of a North Korean defector while acting.”

Choi Si Won, a member of the idol group Super Junior, will play a rookie NTS agent named Kim Joon Ho. Choi said, “At first, I was very nervous due to pressure, but as other senior actors are taking care of me as if I am their real nephew, I am filming the drama with no more pressure. Other members of Super Junior are very envious of me about acting together with great senior actors.” He was smiling while making his comments.

In addition, singer BoA and actress Lee Bo Young will appear in “Athena: Goddess of War” as guest stars.

A spokesperson for Taewon Entertainment said, “The story is based on the war on energy, which is not an absurd story, but can happen in the real world. We will attract viewers’ eyes with a solid story line reflecting world policy and a grand scale.”

Kim Min-jong says Choi Si-won has much potential as actor
Singer and actor Kim Min-jong has evaluated Super Junior member Choi Si-won as having much potential as possibility as an actor.

Kim made the remark during a showcase on Monday for upcoming TV series "Athena," the spin-off to last year's hit show "IRIS," in which the two appear alongside a star-studded cast also including Jung Woo-sung, Cha Seung-won, Soo Ae, E Ji-ah and Kim Seung-woo.

"He's doing so well that he's an actor whose future I look forward to more than his present," complimented Kim. "He reminds me of my own past, when I see him doing well at sports and music, as well as having a good determination for acting."

Choi explained, "I think I'll be able to act with my mind at ease and not be nervous because I had been pressured about having to act but everyone has been treating me as if I'm their sibling or nephew....... The members of Super Junior are jealous of me getting to work with them." Choi explained.

"Athena," set to go on air starting November, will be about terrorist acts and threats against the Korean Peninsula and the whole world.

The drama will be shot in various locations throughout the world such as Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and Switzerland.

@Lacus - Thanks a lot for your post! For a sec there I thought the actor Kae Hwa admired and wanted to meet through Min Woo was the one in IRIS who said all those nice things about Siwon and his acting. That would have been trippy if it were!

Anyway, my best to you and Mel and all other very lucky fans going to SMTown. You all be safe and have a blast! I want to know how prepared you all are. Oh, I guess no water gun for SMTown, but cameras with high-powered lenses and top-of-the-line video cameras for our viewing pleasure. We want to see pores! Well, maybe not. :)

@Lacus : thanks for the post. Can't wait to see Siwon act in Athena. I found out that he will play Sho Fuwa in the Taiwanese version of Skip Beat.

All Angels in the OMLHood, no words can really describe the how exhilarating it was to be at SMTown last night!!! Our SuJu boys--Siwon, did not disappoint!!! But now, well, I'm just going to repeat what I wrote in Soompi:

SMTown what an experience, takes one on a huge natural high....and now so deflating that it all had to end, it feels like I broke up with a boyfriend (quick giggle) but really I'm so down, it all ended--but there's always you tube and soompi... It was a continuous peak, one number after another, of course the SuJu bias can't be questioned... Lacus and I met up, we could not find the blue light stick... no official SuJu merchandise at the venue, sad... but we almost missed the beginning 'cuz the doors were opened late, we ran of course... many, many SM entertainers, first for Super Junior was Super Girl, how wonderful that Zhoumi and Henry performed together with the rest of the SuJu siblings... Lacus preferred the Chinese version. I loved seeing all of them together, with a heavy heart that Hang Geng, Kang In and Ki Bum couldn't be there. There were no awkwardness, Zhoumi and Henry were welcomed and the place just roared from all who sang along with SuJu's performances. Of course Siwon was awesome. Don't Don (my fave of their dance performances), included members of Trax, Max of DBSK, it was just great, just great. The Sorry Sorry and You remixes were awesome, I hope there will be a video for sale. The dance performance with a compilation of members from SJ, Shinee, SNSD, wonderful, I didn't blink--those kids can dance. There was so much eye candy, and just being in awe of finally seeing them all... just can't describe the feeling. It's gonna take me a while to get over feeling "gloomy" that it all had to end. From the audience response, I feel there's a big chance SMTown will return, of course Lacus and I prefer SS3, but we'll take our Siwon and his siblings any way we can!!! No fireworks, no water gun, the focus was really on each performance--am so glad.. It was all so mesmerizing!!! My little video camera almost got taken away by the security men and us kicked out--no videos, they preferred the simple digital cameras... so I'm eagerly awaiting Lacus's video and pic uploads.

Lacus, I can't wait 'til you upload your videos and pics!!!! These SuJu are just awesome performers, always in constant motion... The whole show was breathtaking, really fun. It was great meeting Lacus and her hubby. I was with my Kimchee cousins, got my kids to come--almost had to drag them there with their friends since we had extra tickets. But in the end, like us the kids really enjoyed themselves. So Angels and everyone, hope you get your chance to see our Siwon and his siblings... it was so much fun, more than a blast... We didn't get home 'til after 2 am, we ate dinner after the show and drove home 1 hour north of L A. It was really worth more than the price. So, I'll be stalking you tube and the rest of the net to find those HQ videos with great sounds... And there is nothing that can take away actually seeing these young men in person.. here's a sample of what we saw, Lacus, I'll be waiting for your uploads...

Hi all in the OML hood!

@wulan - Love those scenes, also. We call that angry glare the "stink eye" in Hawaii. The stink eye he gave the ex when he was demanded from him an apology to KH was a mean one, and he looked as if he was going to throw blows any second.

Jealous Min Woo looks are priceless.

Oh, and hooray that we'll see him again in another show. I know what you mean about not seeming to get enough.

@Mel - My goodness, Mel, what a great time you had! And Lacus, too, and everyone else there. So it was really that much better to see them/him in person? Wow. I can only imagine. Thanks for the fancam link. I've seen a few, too - one where the girl doing the "filming" is yelling so loud it nearly blew out my eardrums. And whenever they showed Siwon on the big screen, she lovingly (and longingly) said, "Beautiful!"
I can understand her/their excitement.

I saw your comment on Soompi earlier. There sure are some great pics there. Anyway, so glad you guys had a great time!

Hello all OMLHood Angels–Ace, Amy, Belle, Doraemon, enjoydrama, Kappy, Lumi, luvthisdrama, Menci, Wulan, Vhlad, SIGH!!! It's been soooo quiet here, did all the OML Angels feel like Lacus and I... I still feel sooo glum that the SMTown concert is over. And yes SIWON and his SUJU siblings, 'can't reiterate how they were so fantastic!!! There are so many videos of the concert and of course SUJU and SIWON, here are some... Lacus will probably share her videos soon. Here are a few YT accounts full of the concert videos, enjoy 'em:

Whew! That was a long haul between comments for a while there. Got me worried. But never fear - the OML angels are here!

@Mel - Thanks for the videos, also. Watching these fancams almost gets me as excited as if I were there.

Henry's English is excellent. Do you know if he was raised in the US? And Siwon's is pretty darn good, too. What did he say first, and then corrected to "perform"? Just curious...

@Wulan - You may have to wait 'til next year, but some people don't get a Suju concert in their area (like me), so I'm green with envy of you!

@luvthisdrama - Just noticed that it was you who said you can't get enough of him. But I guess the fact is that that's true for pretty much everyone here, huh? I'm not so familiar with Skipbeat, so I'm gonna have to do my homework.

I was wondering...how Suju felt about performing in the US. It seems they for the most part take their show around parts of Asia. I know what Henry said about it being a dream come true for him. Some feel that the US is the place to make it - that if they make it big in the US, they've "arrived". Kinda like "start spreading the news...I want to be a part of it (insert US here twice).

Anyway, talk to you soon, my friends...

Hello OML Angels, I'm taking liberty and sharing a friend's you tube account--super clear videos and audios of our CSW and his siblings.... Get everyone more envious!!!! Thanks to our lacus and her hubby for such great parts... Hope that those who didn't make it will be able to make it next year (no doubt--we the audience enjoyed it) and hopefully all the performers saw how much the audience totally enjoyed the concert... My kimchee family are hoping for an SS3 in the US soon... so no traveling into asia--tickets would be sooooo much cheaper... @kappy, they have "arrived!!!" Henry is from Canada--talented with his violin-- he auditioned for SM and as you see he did well!!! Henry and Zhoumi were totally welcomed here while in some parts of Asia they get booed (terrible!!) So kappy if they (SuJu) come will you too??? @Wulan, hope they head to your parts... The concert was so totally more than worth the price!!!! Though I saw the concert, it's still gets me that it was so much fun and we-my family really enjoyed ourselves...!!!

Have fun!! Enjoy the weekend, it's Friday already, another weekend coming up!!! There are so many more videos of the concert and just watching and listening to all the fangirls and even fanguys just screaming, makes me laugh...some screaming non stop... but I can understand they had such a great time like moi...

Another week creeping up soon it'll be X'mas... hello all OML Angels, I hope all are well...and in good fortune, I took a glance at OML episode 11 and saw the part where MW is trying to be good baby daddy to YE. It's just him and YE and he booty scoots himself over to daddy's girl... it's so cute that he's trying to make it up up with his little girl and she really plays him while KH is late getting home from the office in episode.. They are both so cute!!!

As for Siwon and his SUJU siblings, this really ha become a Super Junior fansite hasn't it... Here are more about SUJU, enjoy yourselves:

Hello all in the OML hood/haven -

I am enjoying those links, Mel and Lacus - thank you.

I've seen a few videos that led me to believe that although Siwon can speak English, he's kind of shy to because he's not ultra fluent. It's too bad some people can be so thoughtless and laugh at attempts to speak English, because it can make people conscious about it and reluctant to try to speak it again. (I'm talking about my observations in some of these videos, not about any of us!) English is a bear to learn if it's not your native tongue. Heck, some of us native speakers are still having trouble with it! So I give those learning it - or any language that's not the native tongue of that person - a lot of credit.

On a different note, I was shopping this morning at the grocery store, and in the Oriental food section something caught my eye. It was a bottle of some kind of sauce - seemingly soy sauce based - entitled "Wonnie". I immediately thought of Siwonnie (of course, what else?) and then I noticed it was Korean sauces, Hot Spicy and Bulgogi. Made me smile.

On still a different note (well, not totally different 'cause you know it's mostly about him or the show), I'm curious to hear how you would rate the last, culminating kiss of the show - on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being flailing miserably, unremarkable, and could have done without it, 10 being fireworks, the symphony and confetti for days.

I'll start - my rating is 8-ish. a) Rewarding that it finally happened and we had a happy ending, b) loved the hands around her face showing tenderness yet certainty about the kiss, c) not the stiff, simple pressing of lips of two people caught by surprise with eyes open kind (oh so grateful it wasn't one of those, though that wouldn't have fit at this point anyway), d) firm, somewhat engulfing kiss without slurping (that really wouldn't have fit at this point), e) interactive in that Kae Hwa reciprocated with her arms on his, f) lingering.

Not a 10 because I think it could have stood more emotion and also more reciprocation on her part. I'm torn because I know too much lovey-dovey wouldn't have fit either. I'm just a romantic at heart, I guess.

hi all, it's been slow in OMLhood.

@kappy : You're generous. I would rate the kiss as 7 max being not passionate and emotional enough. And in my opinion, they are a bit stiff.

@wulan - You're right. I guess that's what I meant by
"-ish". Truthfully, I initially jotted down 7 but felt disloyal somehow - haha. It could have been more passionate and emotional, I agree.

I have to say I agree with it being a 7. Not emotional enough. The kiss by the fridge had more oomph.

Glad you guys enjoyed the fancams. It was an amazing concert. The only thing that would make it better is if I can go to SS3. Siwon was all sorts of adorable. His presence is undeniable. Don't know if anyone noticed, but in the cams, Siwon is playing on the side of the stage. Since the concert was recorded in 3D, Leeteuk walks over to Siwon and makes him go to the center of the stage. Siwon, instead of seeking attention, always tries to make sure that the other members and artists get center stage. When Zhoumi was standing behind other people in the ending, Siwon motions for him to come over and stand in front with the group. When all the artists walk back to the main stage, Siwon noticed that BoA could not be seen behind the other artists, so he pulls her to the front. (My husband was very impressed by his behavior. The little acts of kindness shows what a big heart Siwonnie has.)

I've read fan accounts and watched fancams of SMTown LA from people who weren't fans of Super Junior and the consensus was that Siwon is 1) gorgeous 2) REALLY nice (most of the fan accounts said he was one of the nicest artists they've met) 3) a gentleman.

Even people who were not Super Junior fans before the concert commented that after seeing SuJu perform live, they are now SuJu fans.

Unrelated to the concert, but I saw these amazingly HQ Siwon pics from Oh! My Lady on tumblr. Thought I'd share them here.

Thanks for he account Lacus. Many times I have wondered how could someone be so incredible.

The last pic with Ye-eun is just adorable! I've yet to watch a drama that I love so much as OML. Maybe it's a Siwon and Chae Rim (watched it for her in the first place) thing.

... Lacus, I agree with you, Siwon pulled the quite--hidden few that were in the back and brought them to the front. I'm so glad... we don't know how close these guys are but from some of their accounts the siblings are close to their SMTown mates. I remember Heechul saying that Zoumi took care watched over him when he (HC) was hurt.. If you watch SS2 in Siwon quieted the crowd in one of their China venue in order for Zoumi and Henry to be heard when they spoke... 'can't wait 'til the next concert...

@Mel - Thanks for the inside info on Siwon and his behavior at the concert. It was nice to learn, and of course, I'm not surprised. I have to say that it's not only easy to be his fan, it's rewarding. He never seems to disappoint.

On Soompi, an account of an interview with him said that in response to the interviewer's request for him to finish the phrase or sentence beginning with "Women - ", he replied, "should be protected." Oh wow. That's not the first thing the would come to my mind (probably, if I were a guy), but apparently, it was the first to come to his. Or at least, it was what he chose to say.

Thanks for those very clear, adorable pictures of Siwon. That second pic - oh dear, I wanna frame it and put it on my wall. He IS looking straight at me, after all...

@Lacus : thanks for the account on Siwon and the pictures. He is really a gentlemen, isn't he? It just shows in his atitudes during variety shows.
Hoping I could get the SS3 concert ticket in Singapore in January (cross my finger since the fans in Asia are very rabid, afraid I could not get the ticket on time).

Sorry, Lacus - I didn't look well and just noticed it was you who sent that account on Siwon and pictures. Thanks for those!

@wulan - I had to giggle at your adjective for the Asia fans. I'm sure it shows their dedication, and it could be the ELFs or certain ELFs that I'm talking about here, but I don't think there's a good excuse for behavior like booing the newer SJ-M members. I'm glad Henry and Zhoumi (sp?) were welcomed here on American soil at SMTown.

@wulan & kappy: Yw! :)

I was going to try to go to SS3 Singapore, but it looks like I won't be able to make it due to family issues T____T. My grandmother is ill, so it would not be a good idea to leave the country at this point.

More Siwon stories ^^. While in LA, a fan's car hit the back of the van/SUV that Siwon was in (in front of the Sheraton hotel). Siwon got out of the car and went to the fan to ask if she is okay/comfort her before walking into the hotel. (There's several fancams of the incident on YT.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCVBW_rU0LE

Mel and I decided not to stalk the poor boy to the airport, etc while he was in LA. At my age, it would be a bit odd XD.

An intrepid fan managed to catch a picture of Siwonnie filming in Japan this week:
