yeah, you saw a lot of things during your lifetime, but the thing is that every human being, since the first form of life on earth, has also be the witness of a lot of things, during the same period of time...don't know how to say it (ok, here I give the overused "I'm sorry, I"m French")...
I think, because we're humans, because we have feelings like hate, anger, revenge, we're bound to do and live such things as wars, revolutions, attacks....
The good thing is that every period of time also experience new forms of love, affection, and so on, so stay positive !! Your granddaughter will experience good and bad things, like we all did ! ^^
TGIF!! It feels like it should have been Friday like 3 days ago. i really will capitalize on the awesome 3 day weekend here in the States. i definitely need it. have a few graduation parties to attend, a wedding and a couple funerals in the coming weeks, so i will enjoy my nice event-free weekend while i can! looking forward to the peace and quiet of a calming weekend :)

Whoo-hoo! First time I'm ever around for one of these! So, I started watching "My Lovely Samsoon" yesterday because I'd always heard so much about it. Wow! I did three episodes in one evening, and now I'm a mess at work because I'm too exhausted to function properly (but not too exhausted to party with my friends at dramabeans.com--hardee har har!). No spoilers, please, but I'm enjoying it and just wished I'd gotten on that bangwagon about five years earlier. :-)
Anyway, between "My Lovely Samsoon" and Coffee House, I think I'm set for now, but I'd like other kdrama recommendations; only ones that are finished so I don't have to wait for episodes. I've already watched Coffee Prince (loved it!), Dal Ja's Spring (loved it!), BOF (hot mess), and I've started on Soulmate (really liking it!). What other shows do you all recommend?

Congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter! You are so blessed. And while it is true that the world seems to be a much more dangerous place, it isn't really. Life has always been a horrible, marvelous mess, since the beginning of time. We just know too much about all the horrible stuff that happens in every corner of the globe today because of technology. We're all so interconnected. Before our time there was slavery, the crusades, plagues, entire population subsets being wiped out because of diseases that we don't even blink at, and so much other horrible stuff. In your time, we've seen a huge shifts in women's rights, world-wide amnesty programs, global communication, scientific progress, medicine, and we have the ability to connect to loved ones 24/7. What will your granddaughter see? Even more amazing things, probably even more not-so-amazing things. But this is the world we live in. There's good and bad, progress and regression, hate and, most importantly, love.
Tomorrow isn't promised anyone, but your little one is coming into a world where life is one heck of an adventure. And she has you and other people who love her and will guide her. She's off to an excellent start. Take care of her, love her, and live each day as it comes.

I have a grand daughter who is going to be a year in August.....full of life, bright eyes and always smiling. Her Hawaiian name means....light from heaven. And she is!
Your grand daughter has come into a life that will give her opportunities to make this a better place....just as you and I tried our best....she will do even better! Give your grandchildren all the love they deserve....keep guiding them and appreciate being a part of their lives!
I keep going back to OML and watching different episodes....you know I totally missed episode 13 before!!! don't know how that happened! That's where KH moves into that apartment with the 2 girls and the Chief stops by to help her....and MinWoo comes by with their belongings. OH.....did I notice the jealousy oozing from MW!!!!! I'm laughing just thinking about it!
I have to go back and start over on BG....I haven't gone back to CH or Giant....it's because I'm totally distracted by MCC.....what a fun drama!!!!

Am watching CH at the moment. It's hilarious, but for some reason I'm not emotionally drawn in. I think it's because there appears to be no deep conflict in the drama. Eun-Young's ex-fiance is a jerk, but his thick-headedness and his willingness to be the butt of every stunt they pull on him makes him a weak villian in my eyes. Does anyone else feel the same way? Or am I the only one??

from a previous Jung Yumi post: Wasn't QSS just fabulous?!? At the end when Tae Joo bumps into Eun Soo and says that he wanted to say thanks and to say that he was sorry for being so awkward as it was his first time loving someone, it just about killed me. It was so fantastic how he said it in such a quiet way. Loved Eric's acting in that series!

I look back at my grandparents lifetime and realize how lucky I am to live now even with all the evils of this world. My grandfather was one of 7 sons, he lost 5 brothers in WWI and WWII and his own life to TB caught while away at war. So on this Memorial Day weekend I will remember their sacrifice and be grateful for the good life their legacy afforded me.
On the drama front I'm looking for something to watch but nothing interests me. Just loving Coffee House but have to wait for more installments. For this evenings entertainment I may rerun Attic Cat as I'm suffering from serious Kim Rae Won withdrawal!

I am missing OML and PT, perhaps some form of hottie withdrawal. Coffee House is helping along with a health dose of Tsuki no Koibito, but it just isn't the same. Four hours of man candy and interesting plots can't be fixed with three. I need to add one more show. Don't know if I can hold out till My girlfriend if a Gumiho.
And @V since you seem to be the resident ELF. When are they going to perform "Boom Boom" again? That Inkigayo performance made me want to join a fan club! Minah is ok but I like Boom Boom and Shake It Up better.
Since it's almost June, I'm now scrambling to get all my May goals done. May felt really long...but at the same time, it seems like it flew by really quickly.
I haven't been in a kdrama watching mood lately...my parents have gotten addicted to kdramas and with a kdramas playing in the background of our small apt and seeping through our thin walls, i just don't feel it. However, this makes me really grateful for the dedicated recappers who recap the series that I want to watch but can't commit to watching.

Taking the day off to catch up with things at home and relax...finally getting around to watching the first episode of Coffee House (am super excited!).
Anybody watching recent Jdoramas? Any recs? I watched the first episode of Tsuki no Koibito and am feeling kind of ambivalent...
TnK (Tsuki no Koibito) is so awful even the stars are acting like they know what a hot mess it is (rumors abound that the PD is racing to reduce LCH's screentime and increasing Ryoko as soon as possible, rather than later, to salvage the ratings).
On the otherhand, the currently airing Yankee-kun to Megane-chan is so much win that I can't even begin to describe how fun, sweet and cool of a drama it is, with a heartfelt message hidden in a crunchy hard candy exterior.
I (along with momosan and mookie) highly recommend it. :-D
I reminds me of Nobuta wo Produce and Otomen, but a fresh own take on the high school drama.

@cupcake, Yes, it is Jay Park, and he used to be Park Jaebum of 2PM but now he is going solo, and he is returning to Korea in a few days, after an 8-month absence. It's sortof like Dolly Levi returning to Delmonicos, if you are familiar at all with "Hello, Dolly," LOL.
i just finished watching Nobuta! i found it very endearing! there is just something abt it tht makes you want to go back to high school and remember all the happy times during those tough years...i hardly recollect any of my school years its a big fat blur to me.....but yeah some of the memories do remain but have become very hazy as time goes by...:( needless to say i jus slept thru school...but i did find some good friends there and it was marginally tolerable only becos of them!

About dramas, I got to say I was pretty disappointed with the pace of Cinderella's sister, I really thought that would be a wonderful drama until the end...
I expect a lot from Coffee House ! Love the actors...
Couldn't resist the temptation and watched Ep 1 and 2. Not completely sold on the directing and writing BUT the acting is WINNING big time here. KNG is a given but KJW surprises me - he's charismatic in previous roles but his scenes in Ep 2 show the promise that he can face off KNG on equal footing. The two sisters especially OYS are pitch perfect. Even HGI is one notch up. My only issues are (1) the jumpy editing, (2) the rolling out of the background childhood story of KNG is done so unceremonially as if they just want to get it over and done with, and by doing so, it reduces the dramatic impact on the depth of that hurt, and (3) don't kill me for that: aren't there far too many scenes of KNG? Okay, KNG is the first and foremost reason I am (and you are too) attracted to this drama. He is absolutely commanding in all his scenes but I do not expect to see him like, 80% of the screen time. If they continue this way, this drama should just be called 101 Why We Fall for the Sexy Bastard!

I know how many OTers love So Ji-sub and Jang Hyuk for their emotional traumatic turns in various dramas but I do think Eric's Tae Joo in QSS should earn similar quernsey. His silent regrets (or that half laugh at himself) from mid-way through the drama move me in such a way that other tearjerkers can't. When is he coming back from military service?

I am having great fun with MCC too! Pretty much nothing to complain about now that 6 episodes are over. Tight plot with well pacing. LSK is doing a lovely job - and I am pleased that for once we have a witty, street wise and quick-minded female cop who outsmarts the old guards. Anticipating the upcoming triangle/rectangle....
eiko, I can't get OML out of my system and keep re-watching. In fact, loving it more with each re-watch. Good to know people in the same boat.

In my typical (make-my-friends-watch-dramas-against-their-will) fashion started my friend on PP. She now wants to make a trip to Seoul and apparently I am to aide her in stalking Park Shi Hoo.....(my fault apparently that I got her addicted to Seo Byun)... hahahahahaha....
Random question: the little girl (Su Jeong) in Star Golden Bell, has she acted in any dramas or movies?
TnK is the saddest 'hot' mess I've seen in doramaland.
there's loads of misfires but I think we should fault the writer most..THEN LCL the 'actress' (or all the peeps who thought she can handle a dorama, let alone a Kimutaku RE'NAI!!...so yeah by default KimuTaku as well).
The script is the most horrendous a trainwreck I've seen. Yes, writer spiced it up w/ kisses and marriage proposal 3 eps in, but when the characters feel nth real, and forced to do illogical things on top of it... it's not possible to evoke emotions in viewers (at least me)...unless of coz u can disengage your cognition to the point just watching KimuTaku/Shota/LCL doing things will fill u w/ an unexplainable bliss.
To add salt to injury, a newbie actress who can not play nuance, and clearly she's so out of the loop, the connection of her w/ her character is not unlike ours w/ our barbie. when the scene or director calls for her to say certain lines, move certain ways...she can do it as in we can twist our barbie's limbs, and we can also say some imaginary dialogues in some squeaky fluffy voice we thought all barbies should sound like (and clearly we have a RL one that seriously confirm that fact to MY horror) but then that does not flesh out a character, as in we'd never expect out barbie to be REAL, u know?
so if looking at LCL in any particular scene, she's not terrible in passing, but when we're dissecting her as a character, 1 min she's planning revenge on a certain royal ass, then next she's proposing marriage.... if it's done by a real person (ok I'll be less mean...) a serviceable actress, we should get a shade of coy, a hint of mental struggling? maybe a hesitation more than u r talking about weather, no? anything that just hint us to think, ok it's an act, she's using braincells, processing this as sth to do to feed him his own shxt.... no such luck here. We saw her giddily asking it, as if this is a natural thing to say (ok backtrack... she's fooled pretty woman style HOWEVER she's not a hooker to begin w/ but a righteous factory worker... and she's just pimped to be a touchy feely dinner date, spend the night w/ of coz a sleazy white ugly dude just the night before?!) mind if I excuse myself and just explode a part of my brain used to watch LCL act/say lines?!
you know, when a drama is so enjoyable....the music keeps playing in my head and I end up going back. with OML the lyrics fit in with what's happening and MinWoo seems to be singing about how he feels. I thought it was so neat when he did the first performance and KH gave him the bouquet and the look on his face made me laugh because that was the first time he could let loose and hug her! It was a really good hug!

I don't know how the heck I missed ep 13....but I did! I was following it on my laptop and I can only guess that I didn't keep track of the episodes. Anyway...it's airing on our local korean station on Mon/Tue so I'm in hog heaven.
If you want to follow something that is plain enjoyable and fun...check out Call of My Country or MY Country CAlls.....it is really fun....every episode is enjoyable.

It feels like it should have been Friday like 3 days ago. i really will capitalize on the awesome 3 day weekend here in the States. i definitely need it. have a few graduation parties to attend, a wedding and a couple funerals in the coming weeks, so i will enjoy my nice event-free weekend while i can! looking forward to the peace and quiet of a calming weekend :)

Whoo-hoo! First time I'm ever around for one of these! So, I started watching "My Lovely Samsoon" yesterday because I'd always heard so much about it. Wow! I did three episodes in one evening, and now I'm a mess at work because I'm too exhausted to function properly (but not too exhausted to party with my friends at dramabeans.com--hardee har har!). No spoilers, please, but I'm enjoying it and just wished I'd gotten on that bangwagon about five years earlier. :-)
Anyway, between "My Lovely Samsoon" and Coffee House, I think I'm set for now, but I'd like other kdrama recommendations; only ones that are finished so I don't have to wait for episodes. I've already watched Coffee Prince (loved it!), Dal Ja's Spring (loved it!), BOF (hot mess), and I've started on Soulmate (really liking it!). What other shows do you all recommend?

That's where KH moves into that apartment with the 2 girls and the Chief stops by to help her....and MinWoo comes by with their belongings. OH.....did I notice the jealousy oozing from MW!!!!! I'm laughing just thinking about it!
I have to go back and start over on BG....I haven't gone back to CH or Giant....it's because I'm totally distracted by MCC.....what a fun drama!!!!

Hey everyone! For once I'm commenting on OT- have I passed a dramabeans milestone? heheh
I'm excited and nervous because I'm going to stay for two nights at a homeless shelter serving the poor and learning more about poverty in general. Praying that all will go well and that I will learn a ton of things.

Am watching CH at the moment. It's hilarious, but for some reason I'm not emotionally drawn in. I think it's because there appears to be no deep conflict in the drama. Eun-Young's ex-fiance is a jerk, but his thick-headedness and his willingness to be the butt of every stunt they pull on him makes him a weak villian in my eyes. Does anyone else feel the same way? Or am I the only one??

from a previous Jung Yumi post: Wasn't QSS just fabulous?!? At the end when Tae Joo bumps into Eun Soo and says that he wanted to say thanks and to say that he was sorry for being so awkward as it was his first time loving someone, it just about killed me. It was so fantastic how he said it in such a quiet way. Loved Eric's acting in that series!

I look back at my grandparents lifetime and realize how lucky I am to live now even with all the evils of this world. My grandfather was one of 7 sons, he lost 5 brothers in WWI and WWII and his own life to TB caught while away at war. So on this Memorial Day weekend I will remember their sacrifice and be grateful for the good life their legacy afforded me.
On the drama front I'm looking for something to watch but nothing interests me. Just loving Coffee House but have to wait for more installments. For this evenings entertainment I may rerun Attic Cat as I'm suffering from serious Kim Rae Won withdrawal!

I am missing OML and PT, perhaps some form of hottie withdrawal. Coffee House is helping along with a health dose of Tsuki no Koibito, but it just isn't the same. Four hours of man candy and interesting plots can't be fixed with three. I need to add one more show. Don't know if I can hold out till My girlfriend if a Gumiho.
And @V since you seem to be the resident ELF. When are they going to perform "Boom Boom" again? That Inkigayo performance made me want to join a fan club! Minah is ok but I like Boom Boom and Shake It Up better.

Since it's almost June, I'm now scrambling to get all my May goals done. May felt really long...but at the same time, it seems like it flew by really quickly.
I haven't been in a kdrama watching mood lately...my parents have gotten addicted to kdramas and with a kdramas playing in the background of our small apt and seeping through our thin walls, i just don't feel it. However, this makes me really grateful for the dedicated recappers who recap the series that I want to watch but can't commit to watching.

TnK (Tsuki no Koibito) is so awful even the stars are acting like they know what a hot mess it is (rumors abound that the PD is racing to reduce LCH's screentime and increasing Ryoko as soon as possible, rather than later, to salvage the ratings).
On the otherhand, the currently airing Yankee-kun to Megane-chan is so much win that I can't even begin to describe how fun, sweet and cool of a drama it is, with a heartfelt message hidden in a crunchy hard candy exterior.
I (along with momosan and mookie) highly recommend it. :-D
I reminds me of Nobuta wo Produce and Otomen, but a fresh own take on the high school drama.

@cupcake, Yes, it is Jay Park, and he used to be Park Jaebum of 2PM but now he is going solo, and he is returning to Korea in a few days, after an 8-month absence. It's sortof like Dolly Levi returning to Delmonicos, if you are familiar at all with "Hello, Dolly," LOL.

Me watching Tsuki no Koibito (Moon lovers)....for KimuTaku, Matsuda and the actress who plays carpenter....
Somehow KimuTaku looks jaded but Matsuda looks hot as ever.....
Story is nothing like other KimuTaku doramas- Pride, Good luck, Chance.... but still sticking to it.

i just finished watching Nobuta! i found it very endearing! there is just something abt it tht makes you want to go back to high school and remember all the happy times during those tough years...i hardly recollect any of my school years its a big fat blur to me.....but yeah some of the memories do remain but have become very hazy as time goes by...:( needless to say i jus slept thru school...but i did find some good friends there and it was marginally tolerable only becos of them!

Couldn't resist the temptation and watched Ep 1 and 2. Not completely sold on the directing and writing BUT the acting is WINNING big time here. KNG is a given but KJW surprises me - he's charismatic in previous roles but his scenes in Ep 2 show the promise that he can face off KNG on equal footing. The two sisters especially OYS are pitch perfect. Even HGI is one notch up. My only issues are (1) the jumpy editing, (2) the rolling out of the background childhood story of KNG is done so unceremonially as if they just want to get it over and done with, and by doing so, it reduces the dramatic impact on the depth of that hurt, and (3) don't kill me for that: aren't there far too many scenes of KNG? Okay, KNG is the first and foremost reason I am (and you are too) attracted to this drama. He is absolutely commanding in all his scenes but I do not expect to see him like, 80% of the screen time. If they continue this way, this drama should just be called 101 Why We Fall for the Sexy Bastard!

I know how many OTers love So Ji-sub and Jang Hyuk for their emotional traumatic turns in various dramas but I do think Eric's Tae Joo in QSS should earn similar quernsey. His silent regrets (or that half laugh at himself) from mid-way through the drama move me in such a way that other tearjerkers can't. When is he coming back from military service?

I am having great fun with MCC too! Pretty much nothing to complain about now that 6 episodes are over. Tight plot with well pacing. LSK is doing a lovely job - and I am pleased that for once we have a witty, street wise and quick-minded female cop who outsmarts the old guards. Anticipating the upcoming triangle/rectangle....
eiko, I can't get OML out of my system and keep re-watching. In fact, loving it more with each re-watch. Good to know people in the same boat.

In my typical (make-my-friends-watch-dramas-against-their-will) fashion started my friend on PP. She now wants to make a trip to Seoul and apparently I am to aide her in stalking Park Shi Hoo.....(my fault apparently that I got her addicted to Seo Byun)... hahahahahaha....

TnK is the saddest 'hot' mess I've seen in doramaland.
there's loads of misfires but I think we should fault the writer most..THEN LCL the 'actress' (or all the peeps who thought she can handle a dorama, let alone a Kimutaku RE'NAI!!...so yeah by default KimuTaku as well).
The script is the most horrendous a trainwreck I've seen. Yes, writer spiced it up w/ kisses and marriage proposal 3 eps in, but when the characters feel nth real, and forced to do illogical things on top of it... it's not possible to evoke emotions in viewers (at least me)...unless of coz u can disengage your cognition to the point just watching KimuTaku/Shota/LCL doing things will fill u w/ an unexplainable bliss.
To add salt to injury, a newbie actress who can not play nuance, and clearly she's so out of the loop, the connection of her w/ her character is not unlike ours w/ our barbie. when the scene or director calls for her to say certain lines, move certain ways...she can do it as in we can twist our barbie's limbs, and we can also say some imaginary dialogues in some squeaky fluffy voice we thought all barbies should sound like (and clearly we have a RL one that seriously confirm that fact to MY horror) but then that does not flesh out a character, as in we'd never expect out barbie to be REAL, u know?
so if looking at LCL in any particular scene, she's not terrible in passing, but when we're dissecting her as a character, 1 min she's planning revenge on a certain royal ass, then next she's proposing marriage.... if it's done by a real person (ok I'll be less mean...) a serviceable actress, we should get a shade of coy, a hint of mental struggling? maybe a hesitation more than u r talking about weather, no? anything that just hint us to think, ok it's an act, she's using braincells, processing this as sth to do to feed him his own shxt.... no such luck here. We saw her giddily asking it, as if this is a natural thing to say (ok backtrack... she's fooled pretty woman style HOWEVER she's not a hooker to begin w/ but a righteous factory worker... and she's just pimped to be a touchy feely dinner date, spend the night w/ of coz a sleazy white ugly dude just the night before?!) mind if I excuse myself and just explode a part of my brain used to watch LCL act/say lines?!

you know, when a drama is so enjoyable....the music keeps playing in my head and I end up going back. with OML the lyrics fit in with what's happening and MinWoo seems to be singing about how he feels. I thought it was so neat when he did the first performance and KH gave him the bouquet and the look on his face made me laugh because that was the first time he could let loose and hug her! It was a really good hug!

I don't know how the heck I missed ep 13....but I did! I was following it on my laptop and I can only guess that I didn't keep track of the episodes. Anyway...it's airing on our local korean station on Mon/Tue so I'm in hog heaven.
If you want to follow something that is plain enjoyable and fun...check out Call of My Country or MY Country CAlls.....it is really fun....every episode is enjoyable.
