I think Shin Se-kyung is a promising actress and possibly a JJH in the making (fingers crossed), it's great she's been given this kind of a role to stretch her acting range with.
Given how luminous and beautiful she is (as a bonus), she'll be perfect playing a mythical, deceptive character.

Good for her, hope the drama does well. I just can't accept the fact that she is just 19 years old, seriously the girl looks nearly in her 30's.

Lucky LSGi!!! She's gorgeous!!!!! Seung Gi should change his ideal girl type to SSK. I mean come on, look at her!!!! Whats not to like?

i'm a bit disappointed... i love both jeon ji hyun and sandara so if one of them had gotten the role, i'd have been really enthusiastic anticipating this drama... however, since this is the work of HONG sisters, i'll never miss this :) I hope shin se kyung plays the part well.... :)

Sandara Park was never considered for the role here. I remember an article saying that. And it's amazing how the series HIGH KICK can boost a certain actor's popularity. Jung Il Woo became famous after the first HK series, now it's SSK!

EW. Acting is mediocre and doesn't give off good vibe. I don't think as a viewer I can root for her character.

Most of female leads in Hong's sister were below 23 -(not sure abt Song Yu Ri)so JJH, Lee Min Jung, Dara, are considered 'old' in their textbook. Not sure abt SSK acting, but she's really popular nowdays.

ohhh...... i'm not a fan of SSK (dull to watch) so this is disappointing. i didn't even know jeon ji hyun had been considered, but i would have been much more excited if it had been her. i think sandara park looks the part as well. but eh, if this is their choice.

opps correction, HYS is one of the heroin who are more tha 23yrs when she starred in FC.. anyways, most of them are very young.

One thing, new actresses nowdays are so lucky, eventhough the rating of their dramas are around 10-17%, they still can be really popular, unlike the era of SHG, Cha Rim, Lee Da hae, YEH, etc-they must hit above 20% in order to be recognized.

Odd thing is that YGentertainment stated that Dara was considered for this role and then the company later said she wasn't. Something is fishy but nothing that should be made a big deal out of since they've apparently made their decision.

I'd rather be it Kim So Eun rather than Shin Se Kyung but I have nothing against Shin Se Kyung despite the fact I was hoping it was Dara instead. Oh well. The story is still interesting nonetheless and even though I'm not too impressed with Lee Seung Gi (wasn't a fan of SHINING INHERITANCE), I will give this a try!

I believe she'll fit the role just fine...altho the other choices were also appropriate (i thought dara was never considered but it was lee min jung from smile, you/BOF/WAY?). the main thing is that after YAB (and MG, and HGD, etc. etc.), there's no way i'm going to miss this!!! hope lee seung gi will do fine.

mmmm - have always been on the fence with shin se kyung... but i'm trusting the Hong Sisters and lee seung gi on this. besides - as long as they have good chemistry, anything's possible right?

Well, she has the looks, but will she still have that slightly bewildered and timid attitude she had in 'High Kick"? In my mind, a Gumiho would have a very quick,alert, dangerous air about her. I guess we'll see.

I agree w/ the above comment that finds SSK's acting to be "dull." Perhaps that's because of the roles she's played in the past, but it seems to be a stark contrast from the past Hong sisters' leading actresses. That being said, visually, SSK looks the part of a gumiho so I can definitely see why they would cast her.

I'm surprised most of the people here aren't that excited with SSK as the lead especially since everyone I know (plus Korea) seems to really like her. I personally think she's really gorgeous and talented (though I do agree with the comments saying she looks old for her age... she looks like she's around 25 IMO). I personally never really LOVED any drama in the past penned by the Hong sisters (they were just okay for me), but I'm looking forward to watching this now.

Well, Shin Se Kyung is really popular right now, and I guess it's for a good reason, and I liked Lee Seung Gi in Shining Inheritance and the Hong Sisters' writing is somewhat solid, so I'm trusting that this will be good. Now we just have to wait for August.

i love the hong sisters!! i've watched Sassy Girl, My Girl, HGD, and YAB.. i love all of them!! although i would like to see JGS as the lead, but i guess it'll be fine anyway.. hope there'll be another hong sisters drama that includes JGS..

I agree with you javabeans.. Jeon would have been perfect for the role. However I think they picked the best actress for the role. Shin Se Kyung is the current rising star with a lot of potential, and the Hong sisters drama usually is a vehicle for stardom. Plus, I could not agree more that this being a Hong sisters drama, I would watch it anyway if the actress turned out to be Lee Jia!!

Shin Se-Kung is 19?! WOW! All this time, I thought she was in her middle 20s...but still, I'm excited for this drama cuz it's the Hong's sisters drama. It doesn't really matter about who, but it's a matter about acting. Shin Se-Kung is actually quite popular, so we'll see what she have to offer.

oh! i just realised she plays the best friend of moon geun young's character in my little bride. and that, for some reason, makes me interested in this news. go hong sisters!

About her acting, from what I've seen of SSK so far:
I only saw her High Kick role in snippets and I don't think the role kind of allowed her to be anything but dull.
She was great as the young Chun Myung in QSD, she was meant to be an overbearing, self-righteous (wishywashy) royal, but in spite of it she was quite fiery and had a spark. It's that spark which makes me v. hopeful!

I adore JJH but just feel it's nice for n00b actress to be given a chance, JJH and Sandara Park (if she was considered) are already pretty successful in their respective fields.

About her age, I find she has a very cute cherub face, she definitely looks like a teenager to me..?

I'm glad they cast SSK instead of Dara. I love Dara but seriously she has the body of a 11 year old. How can she play a fox. She's more like a rabbit. Looking forward to this Drama.

i'm not quite sure, but i think it's not yet final... there are still news articles stating that no final decision has been made yet. The production team of this drama seriously needs to make up their minds soon.

Love her in QSD so I'll be rooting for her :p.
