Yoon Kye-sang fans show support for Road No. 1

Such displays of concerted fan support never cease to impress me: members of Yoon Kye-sang‘s fan club have worked together and raised money to supply the production of his new drama, Road No. 1, with a meal feeding 120 crew and cast members, which included the drama’s other stars So Ji-sub, Kim Han-eul, and Choi Min-soo.

The samgyetang lunch (a traditional chicken soup) was delivered to the drama’s outdoor set location in Yeoncheon, Kyeonggi-do, on May 15. In addition to the samgyetang, the fans provided dessert, coffee, energy drinks, and other snacks.

In response, Yoon Kye-sang recorded a video message that was uploaded to his fan cafe, wherein he said, “Whenever I’m feeling tired I think of everyone in ‘Beloved Kye-sang’ [fan club] and I spring to my feet. Thanks to the chocolate and hot packs you sent in the past, I was able to bear through the winter shoots. I’m grateful to you every time.”

In the Korean War-era drama, Yoon plays Tae-ho, an elite officer of the South Korean military who forms a love triangle with Jang-woo (So Ji-sub) and Soo-yeon (Kim Haneul). (Tae-ho is the third wheel — he falls for her and they become engaged, only to have Jang-woo return alive from the fighting.) Despite the fact that Jang-woo is Tae-ho’s rival in love, they also form a strong bond as they fight together in the war.

Road No. 1 will premiere on MBC on June 23.

awww thts very cute! here (India) on the stars b'day (if he is big enuff tht is) his fan club arranges a lot of activities....like blood donation camps, distribution of note books to kids etc etc....plus there is a slightly quirky one also usually milk is doused on idols of gods during prayer ceremony....these fan club ppl do tht to the cut outs of their stars on b'days and on the day of a film premiere....which i think is a complete waste of good food...but then u cannot reason with rabid fan boys lol

I can't wait to see him in Road No. 1.. I don't like him being the third wheel, but I like SJS too and I'm especially looking forward to seeing the strong bond that will form between them.

Someone once said in one of the forums (I don't think here at dramabeans exactly) that actors/actresses/idols/celebrities do not need to cater to their fans and do not need to please their fans or listen to anything the fans have to say because they (the celebs) are their own person. But moments like those mentioned here about how easily fans can band together is something to keep in mind: fans are a formidable bunch, they can make you or break you (as a celeb).

Anyways, cool beans yo.

@14: Whoever said that is not a fan. The artists/entertainers do not have to live their lives for their fans but they do have to 'cater' for them, as in make time for them, treat them nicely - like they would treat work colleagues/friends. After all, you are an entertainer to an audience (the fans) - if you do not consider them, then how do you know if you're succeeding in your job.

Fans do make or break an entertainer.

I love how the Korean fans go out of their way to show their 'adoration' for their fav artists.

To those of you who do not know who Yoon Kye Sang is, you SHOULD watch his drama "WHO ARE YOU". If you don't have time, you can read the recap in dramabeans. It is highly rated here and is still very popular in Taiwan (repeated 3x on tv ), Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and even in S America. Its rating was low in Korea probably due to intense competition during its air time. I was immediately enchanted with his acting and the out-of-the-ordinary storyline. I can assure you that you won't regret reading its recap or watching it on mysoju.com.

@ v
It looks like we both have the same taste in dramas and actors. i love Yoon Kye Sang in "Who are you?" and Park Shi Hoo in "PP" as much as you do! May I know which country you are from? I am from Singapore and kdramas, actors and singers have a huge following here.

Yoon Kye Sang is one example of one who started as an idol star...who successfully transitioned into an ACTOR!!!
Love ALL his dramas & movies & KUDOS too, to his avid fans!!!
my only wish is to see him as a lead actor once more & not as a third wheel, like his roles in "Triple" & "Road No.1"...where his talent is not fully exploited !!!
