Sugar’s Park Su-jin cast as Lee Seung-gi’s first love

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho has cast Park Su-jin, a member of the kpop group Sugar, as Lee Seung-gi’s first love in the upcoming SBS drama. You may recognize the 24-year old actress from smaller roles in Boys Before Flowers (as Kim Bum’s first love), Queen Seon-duk, and Loving You a Thousand Times.

Lee Seung-gi’s character falls in love with her at first sight and follows her around like a puppy his whole life, but she’s never thought of him as a man. That is, until she starts seeing him with his new girlfriend, the gumiho, which sparks new feelings for her.

It looks like this might be one of MANY love triangles in this drama, unless it’s going to be a quadrangle, with the other second female lead rounding out the group.

That’s a lot of love interests. But then maybe he’ll end up feeding their livers to his gumiho girlfriend. What? That’s what we call two birds, one stone.

Uhh, what? Now there are 3 actresses and Lee Seung-gi? Did they base the plot off of one of those harem anime series?

I'm not too excited about this, because Park Su-jin has this ability to be completely unconvincing as a secondary contender for the lead's heart. But the Hong Sisters never write secondary female characters well so that's kinda par for the course...? There will be many, many shapes and sizes of love geometry in play, but really, I'm only betting on one being viable. Hey, as long as it's the right one!

Oh no! I've never liked her acting; waste of screen time. I think GF's idea is great! :-D

so there's T-ara's hyo min and Su Jin as second lead...honestly...one to hate is more than enough...im not saying they would be hateable characters...yet...but looking at the hong sister track record when it comes to female second lead, they most likely would be....so lee seung ki's character gets 2 girls vying his attention when he's like a klutz....bt shin minah's gumiho doesnt even get one?...lol

Why do they keep casting singers with training wheels on? OMG there is like a tons of young actresses out there.

I get why Lee Seung Gi is cast. He's really popular and his acting is pretty decent.
Su Jin seems nice on variety shows. But so far she has not been able to convince us much as an actress. We'll just how this goes.

Please dont cast another singer as a 2nd lead!

Typical second lead. Never know what they have until it's gone. Then, they become desperate and despicable.

Sugar is now disbanded... but I miss them :0

To be honest, I could never really warm up to Park Su-Jin. I find her acting extremely bland... such a pity she was casted. Perhaps there's hope that her acting will improve ^^''

I was hoping for "shipping wars" for other dramas besides Coffee House. I thought with HyoMin in this drama, another one can happen.

Why do we need more girls? Don't they know that the main reason most kdramas are watched is for the man candy! >.<

Anyways, I'm more interested on how the story is going to develop and how they're going to incorporate a gumiho into present day. <3

This role totally sounds like Park Shi-eun's Chae-rin from "Delightful Girl Choon-hyang"!!!! XDDD I didn't really like Chae-rin much, so I doubt this one will be any different D: Hyo-min's character doesn't seem as sly, etc., thank God! Or not God, but you know.

What if Lee Seung-gi and Shin Min-ah don't end up together, though, and he ends up with Hyo-min??? That would be a bit different XD Because she's a gumiho and everything. I just find it a bit confusing that there are TWO second female-leads O_O

I have nothing against her but she can't act! I *hope* her character isn't important and is relegated to a super background-ish role. Oh, well, I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Wow that's a lot of singers-turned-actors all in one series......not sure how I feel about that.

@19... I'll ship HyoMin with LSG. Since in this drama, Mina's character is differently too old for him. 500 years older.

I agree with the comment about there being too many girls. I shamelessly admit I have double standards: I love that two guys fight over the same girl but I don't like a main guy hesitating between several girls.

I'm getting less and less interested in this drama. The Hong sisters have suprised me in the past but I don't plan to watch this unless I read some glowing reviews.

This can work for HyoMin... since if you think about it, there is a chance where Minah's character might have to sacrifice their love since she's a immortal being.

I'm guessing the casting people like her since she gets cast with lukewarm reviews on her acting? Her acting seems ok... not spectacular, just kind of... there. And like others have said, where are the guys in this show?? It can't ride on Lee Seung Gi's coattails, as cute as he can be.

i agree with javabeans- the secondary female lead roles in the Hong sisters dramas are weak. Their sole purpose is to be a part of a love triangle and their personalities are stuck on needy and annoying (and too clueless to realize it). Think back to Delightful Girl Chunhyang, My Girl, Fantasy Couple, Hong Gil Dong

The only secondary female lead in a Hong sisters drama whom I actually enjoyed watching was Uee from You're Beautiful, whose character was totally aware of her fakeness.

Anyways, I can't wait for this drama!!

Actually UEE's character in YB was quite the riot, she has a UEE kinda look about her, maybe she'll play that kind of a sly character? Heeh!

Oh god I hate these scenarios, typical inconsistent side female character who'll turn nasty in her attempts to get back the guys attention, even the writers must be bored with their own side plots.

Yeah! I agree! Although there are some singers and idols that act well, but it's unfair how these idols get a shortcut to good roles on tv dramas while people that went to acting school and works their asses to develop their acting talents don't get the same opportunity.

I have nothing against Park Su Jin, but her acting is cringeworthy. She had a small role on Boys Over Flowes and she was able to ruin it.

Ah! I am sure that Park Su Jin seem like she might have first time acting for this new drama "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho", of course. (curious glares) Oh yeaa.......

........Well, I will see what happens if it looks very well or not either, I think so.......

.......How unique. ^__^

i'm sorry, but her acting is very bland...she would be better doing sitcoms or another genre that does not portray a long range of emotions. she's pretty though!

Urgh she can't act. i hope she leaves this series. FOR GOOD.

she isn't that pretty either, for me she looks weird, thinks beauty lies in the eyes of beholder.

for me shin min ah is very pretty and like-able but the series is getting boring, as expected.
