New teaser for Playful Kiss

The first teaser for Playful Kiss was very short, though evocative (and cute!). This new one is a bit longer and gives us more of an idea of the opposites-attract dynamic between the two leads, Kim Hyun-joong and Jung So-min. Although at this point it’s more of opposites-bicker-in-denial-of-attraction, at least on his (perfect, polished) end, since his haughty character Baek Seung-jo feels mostly exasperation at Oh Ha-ni’s annoying ways.
(I’m feeling better about Kim’s acting in this preview, though of course it’s too early to say. Please, please, please be decent! I really do want to like this drama.)
Below are translations of the clip. I’ve tried my best to hear accurately, though a few words were hard to make out. But you get the gist:
Ha-ni: “People tell me to stop dreaming. But I have faith. If I keep walking steadily, I’ll make it to the finish line in the end.”
Seung-jo: “Hey, Oh Ha-ni.”
“Hey! Oh Ha-ni!”
“HEY!”
Seung-jo: “Sorry to tell you…”
“Thoughtless girl.”
“She’s a good girl.”
Ha-ni: “But that doesn’t get me down. Because I can just make him mine.”

although i have faith in the lead actress. the lead actor though? not too sure. yea...yea..yea....he plays a cold-hearted, stone-faced guy. but if he really is an actor, even his coldness should come off the screen. in this one, nothing came off from him. psh.

I always think if I have a friend like Oh Hani's character in the real life, I'll be die for 2nd hand embarrassment... but on the other side, I really want to have that much guts to love a man no matter what like she does.. :D
I think Seungjo's character is somehow closest to KHJ in real life, so all he needs to be natural and bring out his 4D-ness.
I like what I saw in the trailers and BTS videos so far.

remind you that are some ppl on this Earth that just can't understand twculture (this is a matter of education&culture&IQ) ...as you like more twmovies&dramas there are ppl who love more kdramas&movies
to me twacting is a bit overacting... and even I don't know Korean it doesn't sound in my ears like broken plates 80 minutes per episode like a tw drama sounds... to me Mandarin is over my understanding .... I'm from Eastern Europe ... and my language could sound in your ears like awful noise ...
the TWversion was better doesn't do the trick for everybody... I can't say that is was better or worse than jversion or in the future kversion....just because I can't watch it....
Kotoko is supposed to be annoying in the first eps
Naoki in jversion had a worm smile all the time... but I couldn't fell any emotions from him despite his cute smile and despite that jversion is old drama nippon school ...when overacting was the best thing ever(watch again Pride and Brand or any 1995-2001 jdramas and you will understand what I'm talking about)
I hardly try to see "Down with love"... I think this is second tw drama (first was Fated to Love You)when I stop right in the middle just because my limited understanding.... and yes they have interesting plots and yes I love that they are not as virgins as Koreans are... ermm after me a lil sex scene is welcomed ... coz "the stork brings the baby" is the perfect fairytale for kids ... but not for me

But dear, i'm not saying i like tw dramas more...i'm from india and it doesn't matter to me whether it is a kdrama or tw or jdrama as i don't understand any of these and yes i too feel awkward whenever i hear taiwanese and i also dropped down with love in the middle because i'm frustrated and my first twdrama is fated to love....but all these things doesn't matter when i said that Joe Cheng really pulled off the character and i did'nt feel any connectivity of KHJ with the character...yes he should be stone faced,arrogant,cold but whatever i'm seeing is just a blank face...i'm not saying that everyone likes tw version but it's just my opinion that KHJ did'nt sink into the character...lastly reminding you i'm a big fan of KHJ as a singer and for his offscreen personality but not as an actor

the lead actress is doing justice for her role bcoz that's how her character is but i doubt whether KHJ can pull off the character or not(even after seeing the trailers also i'm not sure)

He just looks better and better and if he even improves a smidgen in acting...I am so so sold.I am doing the uploads for viikii and I will be watching each ep at least 3 times....he bettter be good....but I know he is.His manliness....or beauty (!) no wonder he is a CF wonder.
On the other hand (expecting to be slammed for this) I really didn't like ISWAK and if they give the same ending as S1..I would do some damage on my computer screen *-*
They so better not make him do the god-awful wedding.That was the absolute pits and I cringe thinking about it....ewww.

Did the ISWAK kiss in the rain in episode 19 work for you? It certainly worked for me. But I wonder if that was in the original manga and if this pair can even pull off their kind of chemistry. And not just the kiss but everything leading up to it.

You're doing the uploads for ViiKii? Cool, and thank you! I wanted to leave a suggestion at ViiKii but I can't log on for some reason. Will it be possible for the Playful Kiss team to completely hold back the videos from the general public until they're 100% English subbed? The Oh! My Lady team did this, and it was awesome. An entire episode would suddenly appear at about 7/8PM EST the day they'd aired in Korea, with all videos fully subbed.
It was great, because holding back the videos meant inconsiderate dingbats couldn't access them before they were ready, so there were no delays due to them pinging the channel repeatedly, watching the videos and leaving comments all over them, making things difficult for the subbing team. I'm noticing this problem with MGIAG and I can tell that the subbers are getting really irritated with people who go to the channel as soon as the videos are uploaded at about 3PM EST. Those people then proceed to stalk and ping the channel nonstop for the next ten hours (and I know about this because people on Soompi and Omona They Didn't talk about how they refresh the videos every 10-15 minutes for hours and hours), watching videos before they're complete, leaving comments that blatantly disrespect subbers' requests, and slowing things down for everyone.
I don't know if the Oh! My Lady team's strategy will help you and the MGIAG team, but I wanted to put it out there.
Finally, my thanks to all of you at ViiKii for what you do. Anyone who's translating is able to watch and understand the media in it's original language, so they don't need subs. I'm fully cognizant that it's a kindness you're all performing for us non-Korean speakers, and I'm very grateful.

MGIaG was a mess last week wasn't it?I felt like knocking some heads together.There are people today who have been put on the abusers list because they kept ignoring the rules for ep 5.I am waiting for the screaming to hit when they find out they have been banned till the drama ends. Yes I know some people on this forum will feel sorry for them but honestly all of us (volunteering on viikii) have lives ;it already takes hours to get the ep out without the delays caused by inpatient viewers.
PK is licensed already that means that it will only be available for general viewing a few days after.At least it's not totally not available like Baker King.
So yes all the subs will be 100% when it's released.I don't actually know how long the delay means as I can access all licensed dramas anyway.However.....based on how popular this drama is....the videos are not uploaded onto the channel until it's subbed.I feel like I am in some conspiracy to hide it from the viewers

That's a great strategy, ck1Oz. You ViiKii Vikings do what you need to do to keep your sanity. No one is going to die from waiting for some damned subs. In fact, I really do think that starting with episode 6, the ViiKii team should hold back all videos of MGiaG until the entire episode is 100% subbed, then just release all seven parts to the viewers at once. I really think it'll save you all a lot of agitation and will reduce pings on the channel. I know the Oh! My Lady team had excellent results with this, and OML wasn't even licensed. They just held the vids back for as long as they needed to get the whole episode to 100% and then boom! It was like Christmas every Monday and Tuesday evening.
Now that I know you're the PK uploader, I'll have to do my best not to stalk you all over this website, asking you what happened in that day's episode since it's licensed and I won't get to see right away. :D

Right...on the PK page on viikii on the lower left hand side a link for dramastyle site has been put in for viewers to view raw episodes.We have a super organized manager...she is amazing.

lol. People are complaining about bad acting yet BOF was a hit. Seems some don't mind it.
Joe was perfect in his role in ISWAK and I was so surprised to see how different his real personality was.
Hyun Joong, well, from the trailer, he looks okay. It's just a teen manga romance so I think it's fine. Not like he needs to display some deep emotions or whatever.

some ppl don't like Kim Hyun Joong's acting.... yet there are ppl who loved his char in BBF.. and his.... acting.... I'm not really a KHJ fan yet I liked him more than LMH in BBF... and is no denial LMH can really act.... and KHJ's looks don't work for me... like No Min Woo,Jang Geun Suk, Kim Nam Gil or Kim Jae wook or Kang Dong Won.... I squeal just when I see a new headline about them... yet I find flaws to KHJ's looks and singing... but I liked better his version of Rui against Oguri Shun's Rui(who again is no denial he can really act)
KHJ didn't won 2 popularity awards for nothing... if it were just for his SS501 membership then SuJu Choi Si Won's drama should have over 40% ratings... yet he had merely 10.3%
btw I saw the really long teaser... released today at press con... there are new things that i didn't knew about ... yay
I can't see next week more than 13% for PK(between 10% and 13%)... but I hope I'm wrong... because MGIAG is established at 14% 6th place on daily ratings and the first one is Baked King with 44%... and MBC now has like 4% in the same timeslot

I still cringe at KHJ acting when watching this preview. He does seem to make an improvement since BOF, but...i still cringe a tiny whinny bit.... perhaps it's his eyes.
I always find that the most lacking part of his acting is in his eyes. It doesn't have the emotion, most of the time it looks... lifeless.
I could be wrong and he just might "bitch slap" me later on, but until this airs, i'll keep my doubt a little bit. But anyways, still gonna watch this cause i'm just a sucker for light heart drama and i hope PK will follow more to ISWAK kind of story rather than the original japan vers, because I want the lead to have a real and longer lovey dovey moments~~ *crossing fingers*

The teaser look SO promising! I'm really getting my hopes up about this drama now...oh DEAR...that last screenshot just made me squeal!
(Fortunately, I'm not in the office. Unfortunately, I'm not in the office. So now I look vaguely deranged squealing to myself in public. On the other hand it's not like anyone actually KNOWS me...)

@55.1.2 Totally AGREE! That was a complete WTF moment for me as well! The guy was all sexy through-OUT the show and then she goes and makes him do THAT. Kill. Sexy. Dead. God I hope that don't make him do that... And about KHJ sucking... I don't really care if he does. Atleast we can blame it on the fact that he wasn't a actor originally unlike GHS and PSH who are both fully actresses and still managed to not bring any depth, understanding of character or even a proper walk to their portrayals. (But they could cry like there's no tomorrow.) I wonder why GHS doesn't get called out on butchering Makino as much as KHJ gets it for butchering Rui. On a side note: JSMs Kotoko seems to be more brainy and much less retarded then GHSs Makino. How messed up is that?

so looking forward to this drama...first time I find KHJ somewhat attractive and JSM is so cute...hope her character will not be as ditzy as the TW version and leaning more towards the anime which I loved....too soon to tell but predicting this drama will be a hit

I dunno abt u guys but i ve loads of free time...i dont care whether khj does bad or JSM does bad or the story is done bad...am gonna njoi it no matter what!

i really hope KHJ will be able to give the character justice, i really like the story and the taiwan's version as well... im seeing that the girl (sorry dont know her name) will be able to pull it off... not sure of KHJ... seeing his performance in BOF. anyways... cant wait for this series to premiere...

Glad I am not the only one disappointed with this trailer. Jung So Min's image fits the role and I got excited for once, but why does it feels like I'm seeing another typical K-drama heroine? As for Kim Hyun Joong, I don't think he improved at all. He seemed so unnatural. But I guess people don't care, they'll watch it anyway just for eye-candy and say it's the best drama ever, just look at BOF. Just thinking about it made me shiver.

I feel like KHJ is likely to please more people this time because there's a good chance he'll have more to do in this show than he did in Boys Over Flowers, as in, more active and less staring into space (one hopes). I didn't mind him in BOF though - how does anyone convey mystery and depth playing a traumatised character?

Other actors [Oguri Shun] did the part just fine. Actually, a lot of good actors are able to convey mystery and depth. That's why they're considered a good actor. The fact that KHJ obviously cannot.. is why he's considered a horribly lacking one.

ps I definitely would not say KHJ is a talented actor, but I do think his role in BOF was one of the more challenging ones. It's the 'traumatised' facet that seemed to make him act in an almost catatonic state.
